Police To Hit The Cruises/meets ?

Recommended Posts

just been over to ffoc and actualy not sure if it's mentioned here or not but essex police are on a purge with various club meets ect.....

this is a statment from them....

New measures are being introduced which will strongly impact those who enjoy ‘cruising’ in their leisure time, particularly in Basildon, Thurrock and Canvey Island. Essex police are introducing dispersal orders which will restrict the freedom of cruisers, including both drivers and spectators, often forcing them to leave the area if their behaviour is deemed as anti-social.

Uniformed officers who suspect people of intimidating or harassing others in specific locations notorious for such behaviour will be able to force people to leave immediately and not return within 24 hours; with anyone contravening the order, liable for arrest

Road Policing Inspector * * * * Thomas said: “These powers under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003 are being used to disperse groups in the short-term, but we are looking at more, longer-lasting solutions to combat these nuisance drivers.”

A section of the A127 in Basildon and several roads in the town, including Cranes Farm Road, Eastmayne and Uppermayne will be subjected to the 20-week orders. In addition, the Mayflower and Heron retail parks are places where cruisers are advised to avoid.

In Pitsea, various roads surrounding Tesco on Hazlemere will also be covered under the dispersal order. In Thurrock, the A126 that runs alongside Lakeside Shopping Centre, along with various other roads, including Oliver Road and Weston Avenue, are also included in the order.

On Canvey Island, a section of the A130 and roads surrounding Morrisons will also be ‘no-go’ areas for motorists who plan to cause a nuisance.

The orders come into place this weekend (Saturday, June 2 and are valid until Saturday, November 15. Cruisers are strongly urged to consider this and avoid the areas whenever possible

just thought it would help you boys with your meets...especialy the posers cruise!!!!!!!

We have known for years that Plod reads the Car forums, as a few on here are in the know

We had one meet in Ross some time back, One Sport owner, who;s a good sport, always chirps in as "the underdog" on a tread with comical post.

He said there was no speed cameras on the M50 between Worcester and Ross so he could burn all us "Turbo" cars off.

any way day of the meet a bunch ofScoobs were pulled by an unmarked Car and checked prior to entry of M50 .

They were then escorted up the Motorway to Ross "So they could arrive safely at there destination" :icon_butt:

Mate said one stage following the unmarked it went over 75mph and though it was a trap ;) LOL

Sorry back on topic

Being on the other end on the stick, my last house had a gravel Carpark at the rear :icon_butt: luckly I never killed any boyracers but I tried ;)

At the end of the day all the orders mean is that you may be asked to go away... if you then do as your told you will be fine.

These things are usually started after large numbers of complaints from local residents who are sick to death with being kept awake by people with loud cars making too much noise. I think most people on here would loose their patience if they had a car park near where they live with a constant flow of loud cars, playing loud music driving eractically. I know where I live I often want to go outside and punch one of the little twats who wheel spin up and down our village in a 30 limit on a nightly basis.

You also have to remember all car enthusiasts are tared with the same brush, most mature and sesible meets like our club has cause no problems but unfortunately thats not how joe public sees us. Local residents assume we are all boy racers.

The legislation and focus is on that type of behaviour....The adults behaving responsibly will be unaffected..
