patsy Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Driving to work on Friday and pulled into my mates works carpark to drop him off. Turned to head back out to my work 5 mins along the road. But when I pulled out I went to give her a little vrooommm, but there was nothing! She never boosted at all. Before that she was working fine. I've looked at the hoses and can't notice anything obviously wrong. The CEL aint on either. I can't hear the turbo spooling up now. Just looking for some advice to what might be wrong. I can rev her right up in neutral, but when driving I can't get much. My girlfriends Ka would leave me standing. Thanks
patsy Posted July 20, 2008 Author Posted July 20, 2008 The surclip on the actuator arm will have poped off the turbo.remove the heatshield round the turbo you will see what i mean i would check this first proberbly find this is where your problem lies Gordy Got a sports cat dp, no turbo sheild, so can see this no probs. The arm is fine! Nippy likes.
patsy Posted July 20, 2008 Author Posted July 20, 2008 No movement in the arm. When I accelerate, nothing much happens. Really flat. Even if I go full throttle she won't really pick up any, just slowly builds up speed. Any sort of uphill stretch and I'm goosed, having to come down the gearbox.
terzo neil Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 do you have a boost gauge itted if so whats is it doing ?
patsy Posted July 20, 2008 Author Posted July 20, 2008 No can do. Not got the spare pennys for gauges just now. Some day though.
scoobysailor Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Similar thing happened to my BRO's 05 WRX Reading his thread may give you some things to check- http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtop...p;#entry1118049 Hope this helps.

patsy Posted July 20, 2008 Author Posted July 20, 2008 Not sure how to do that. My car's an 02 blob. Do I disconnect the battery for a little bit or what?
P1Andy Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 It wont be the actuator as you would still hear the turbo spooling. More than likely that the turbo has seized. Try taking the inlet hose off and spining the compressor wheel by hand.
jodie typeRA Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 have you got a VTA Dump valve? could it be stuck on vent (you know jamed open),, take it youve check all the pipes about the boost solanoid and the dump valve
patsy Posted July 20, 2008 Author Posted July 20, 2008 I'll try looking to see if the turbos seized. I'm running the standard dv. Getting a friend of a friend to look at her on Wednesday night. (subaru mechanic). Secretly hoping the turbo needs changed, the girlfriend doesn't need to know its a bigger one going in place. Does she? Cheers
thewelsho Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 ...the girlfriend doesn't need to know its a bigger one going in place. Does she? Cheers nope! Just to hide the hole in the bank account to cover your tracks!
