ed-209 Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 (edited) Saw this car up at gav's today. what a car. Just thinking who has driven and did the engine work on it. New owner has posted round in the General area. Here's the link http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=118098 I for one would have bought this car no questions asked. what about you guys. scouk Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 I for one would have bought this car no questions asked. what about you guys. Me too! Read that post a couple of days ago and never picked up on it properly! that's the origonal Prototype which was actually built at Prodrive! the rest of the RB320's were effectively mass produced elsewhere! That is a truly unique car and should NEVER be modded IMHO! It's been up for sale for a few months and really good to see it up here in scotland! although it's also the car which has been driven like mad around tracks for testing and used in photoshoots all over the place..
scoobyseller555 Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 I don't see what the big deal is. Mmm well dont think your car has been driven by Solberg One special car with special history, also the brochure car aswell, minted and Scott is a lucky barsteward. Gav

Gav I certainly am mate and a huge thanks due to yourself for sourcing the car in the first place! The car was minted yesterday even before it has been prepped i can't wait to see it machine polished and looking like new. I will probably be in again today mate, i suppose i had better show the wife where her shoe and handbag slush fund went too! Will try and make a Scottish meet guys and will keep an eye out for dates. Thanks ScoUK, I am having the dilema on the mods side. Nothing daft planned but if i do it will be able to be put back to standard easily. Only visible mod i may be tempted with on the outside of the car is AP's front and back for track use. With the standard Brembos getting an overhaul so they are like new and then put in a box. Regards Scotty B
scouk Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Here's a couple of photos my brother took at the Subaru/Prodrive day at Castle Combe back in March.. Where I first heard about it being for sale..
scouk Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 (edited) I don't see what the big deal is. Prototypes are rarely sold to the public.. They are generally either stuck away in the back of a factory gathering dust or thrashed by journalists/test drivers untill they die! Also the prototypes are more or less hand built (put together) and the build quality will generally be of a higher standard as a result It'll also be the car they played aroudn with different settings/components until they were happy with the end result.. All in all a pretty special car! IMHO Edited June 29, 2008 by ScoUK
bobbyc Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 welcome mate It looks fair braw always liked the RB320 & yours has a bit of history as well
nkwrx Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Hi mate, pretty special bit of Scooby history you got there cheers Kevan
thefastone Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 wow... That is a pretty special car right enough... Would the engine have been blueprinted though??? I'd have liked to think that it would have been... I also think that this is a car that I personally wouldn't mod... like... ever...
ScottyRB320 Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 (edited) wow... That is a pretty special car right enough... Would the engine have been blueprinted though??? I'd have liked to think that it would have been... I also think that this is a car that I personally wouldn't mod... like... ever... Hi "The Fastone" I have spoken to Prodrive at length about the car, the engine was stripped down and fully rebuilt by them at 10,000 miles as part of the development process and runs as if it were new having only done 1000 miles since. The mods decision is a difficult one, as i am going to use the car as it was intended i am looking at a set of AP's for it however the original Brembo's will be completely ovehauled and kept in a box so that i can put it back to standard with the correct disks and pads. Any other mods i agree will detract from the history of the car and will probably not be a route i want to go down. I have just noticed your location, i work in Aberdeen even though i live in Stirling, so there is every chance you may see me around the "Auld Granite City" Gees a wave if you do. nanaki Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 thats one special car there mate. enjoy it but please look after it. (just what do you tell your insurance company thought when the car literally can't be replaced?)
wilky Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 I love these cars with history!! It wasnt that long ago that Greers had Lappys Leggy estate, and I wish that I had bought that instead of the one I used to own!! Dave Richards Leggy estate is still kicking around as well. Enjoy the car and a little bit of history!! Makes it all worth while. Callum W
thefastone Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Oh yeah man, If I don't wave about town, its probably because I'm in a world of my own... I'm often on auto pilot... If your about normally though the week, we have the SIDC meet on the First Monday of the month, and Aberdeen Scoobies meets every other week... There's one tonight (Wednesday) if your interested... Cheers, Dale.
