cullenmin Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Hey folks, I was up at knockhill this morning for the SEAT Trackstar driving experience 1 - 1 tuition. Sky was a bit dull and the track was damp but i thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was loads of fun and i would recommend anyone that hasnt been on track before to go for something like this. The reason i booked it was because I have my first SIDC trackday on the 28th of this month. I wanted a little training on the track before I set out with the rest of you guys. Learning the lines, braking points, track etiquette etc was all the things I was looking to learn and this morning up at knockers has done just that. Many Thanks to my instructor "Max" who is a very good looking young woman, your a star... I even got about 20 laps round the circuit because I was doing so well with the lines, smoothness and braking. Pretty good going considering your only supposed to get about 10 laps Anyway I'm a very happy chappy today and can't wait for the trackday on the 28th. Anyone else been up and done any of the driving experiences? Rich
st3ph3n Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 I've done the rallying one. Loved it at the time but on reflection it was far too short and not nearly as good as a trackday. The circuit one with the tuition sounds like it would be much better.

sti pretender Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Did the same back if March before my first trackday, only difference I used may own car. Well worth it.
braveheart Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 I have done it also last July the wife bought me the same package, really enjoyed myself and would do it again as a refresher...its well worth the money especially a novice like myself...
thewelsho Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 I wanted a little training on the track before I set out with the rest of you guys. Did the same back if March before my first trackday... You're such girls
micra_wrc Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 did you get the track for yourself? the traffic on our track day unnerves me, it would be so much different if I had the track all by myself, I'd feel more confident pushing it a bit knowing that if i do spin i dont need to dodge oncoming traffic lol
cullenmin Posted June 17, 2008 Author Posted June 17, 2008 did you get the track for yourself? There was only 3 other cars out there... another SEAT, a jag E type and an audi R8. Passed the jag & the SEAT a number of times, and passed the R8 once. I know where your coming from Imy, there will be quite a few more cars on track during a trackday
cullenmin Posted June 17, 2008 Author Posted June 17, 2008 You're such girls Wont be that when the classic type R's gang up on you at the hairpin Although I'm sure STI Pretender has broke his just now
seafar99 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 I've done the rallying one. Loved it at the time but on reflection it was far too short and not nearly as good as a trackday. I've done the rally one also stephen ,and i also thought it was pretty poor value for money(something like 4 runs up and down) so to get my money's worth on the last run i melted the sierra 4 x 4 into a nice tyre wall, felt much better after that!
RA Dunk Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 so to get my money's worth on the last run i melted the sierra 4 x 4 into a nice tyre wall, felt much better after that! i can see where you got the satisfaction from that TBH

LMFAO at that
Double Zero Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Done the Seat one last year including the single seater one which had a Honda Blackbird engine with a sequential box which was great fun and i came in third out of 26 other car's on track Stevie

Did they not ask you to tidy it up afterwards given your abilities? I got the rally thing for my 21st off my mates (6 years ago!). I had a 1.8 Vectra Club SE at the time which could only have had less front end grip if I'd replaced the tyres with blocks of ice, which given their 7000 mile range was an option I did investigate. So getting my first taste in a non FWD car that wasn't an underpowered merc owned by my dad was quite enjoyable. It's only when you buy a Subaru and take it out on your favourite road that you get the real thrill of speed though. Then the value for money thing - I'd certainly have been pissed if I'd paid for it myself. It was 4 runs up and 3 runs down, with a final run down with the instructor in the seat. That alone was possibly worth the money in my case as he was easily the nutteriest of the bunch that day that I had. Quality liberal use of the handbrake.

Frank_STI Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Would really like to do this, especially in my own car as I'v never been on knockhill and getting very interested in these track nights . I had a driving experience "Ferrari Day" for my 21st but it was down in york, and rainned so much that they only let us drive the cars in straight lines really! The first time I actually drove a subaru was down there, some sort of prodrive rally kitted one, was the best fun car to drive there (Ferrari, GT3, Elise), knew I would own one after drive it
