mikeyb13 Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Anyone know if this thing is for real? Promised myself I would never buy a brand new car again but Drooling at the mouth. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpr...reza_coupe.html Can I go to the front of the queue now please Mr Scoobyseller? Put me down for Black one please
Boydie. Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 (edited) The STI version will be lovely, hopefully the car won't weigh as much as the moon, like the 350z Edited June 13, 2008 by Boydie.
RS Grant Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Bit of a funky photoshop there... has a vauxhall plate on it, possibly part of the bumper from the VXR8 been chopped around to fit? I think the 180bhp, RWD 'entry-level' model will be a blast... just hope they stick a Limited Slip Diff in it and dont make it too heavy. Chances are that it'll have an open diff and weigh around 1600kg though, manufacturers seem to think bigger is better these days and dont appear fussed with driver enjoyment at all. Cheers, Grant
scouk Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 yep... Talk of the Toyota/Subaru Coupel has been flapping aroudn for a while now.. but only recently have indications of what it's goign to be and how it's goign to look come out.. that image above looks awesome! But it is just a photoshop.. However ther area some spyshots here of what coudl be the real thing: http://news.windingroad.com/body-stylesmar...baru-rwd-coupe/ I've had comments that it's got the simialr shape to a P2 but maybe jumped up a bit! Looks like Subaru Legacy headlights but with Toyota branded rear seats and Recarro fronts.. Impossible to say how it looks under all that white stuff but it needs to have a lower roof line..!
RS Grant Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 "This car that is built together by Toyota and (Toyota-owned) Subaru will probably be called Toyota in Japan, and Subaru in the rest of the world. Model names are still unknown, but it has leaked out that the engine will be a 2.0 litre boxer engine with about 220 horsepower. Through a six-speed gearbox it will then send the power to the rear wheels. Together with low weight that will probably make the new coupe a “drift” happy toy. Not only the drifting will make you smile, the price will start under $20.000, and that will also make you happy" Does that mean that members buying a UK Model will be good to stay but people buying a JDM Import of this will have to leave and join a Toyota Forum?? WRX power level, 6-spd (maybe from STi??) and RWD will be a decent combination... Cheers, Grant
G.Mac Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 If they had made the new impreza look like that I would have traided my sti in a flash

Gawd Al, that thing is awful!! liking the look of the coupe though
pmacFTO Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 (edited) That car was on the front cover of Auto Express and is indeed a Vauxhall - the scary thing is you can chop an existing car from another manufacturer and it doesn't look much different from another one....cars just look so generic these days! Auto Express are always doing photochops to make their front covers more interesting Edited June 16, 2008 by pmacFTO
st3ph3n Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 The existance of the Toyota/Subaru coupe development is not in any doubt. But to agree with pmac - Auto Express is the sun or daily sport of the car press. How they can get away with some of their stories is beyond me.
pmacFTO Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 I was just gonna say that I am surprised their adverts are not pulled when they do things like that but the manufacturers prob like the publicity anyway even if it's not true!
