the squiggle Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Glasgow to Banbury burning 45 litres, 24 litres at London rd Shell to start her off with a full tank and another 22 litres at Charnock Richard on the M6. Filled back up in Banbury with tesco 99 and it then took 23 litres. My fag packet calculations work out at about 33 mpg, which is not too shabby for a 2 Litre turbo charged short geared rocket. Banbury to Glasgow 12 Litres of fuel consumed, this is a trick maybe one day i will reveal but at the moment it is between me and my conscience Granted it turn out to be a 27 hour day from driving it at circa 60 mph and the weather all the way down the M6 was dire of the highest order. Nice one Mr Subaru
st3ph3n Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 12 litres consumed, or 12 litres purchased Grant? I must say - London road shell is off my list due to 2 bad batches I've had in there at 2 completely different times.
mctwistuk Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 that is some moghty fine figures you got there Grant. Its amazing how just doing a few simpkle things increases the mpg.
white RA Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 are you running it on LPG! .. i'm quite pleased to see your figure's as ive got a few mile's ahead of me in my RA in a few week's, our yearly trip down south in saying that my RA's engine has been altered slightly .. how many mile's all in did you do?
superstar_tradesman Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 I think I know your trick bud. But don't worry I wont give it away

That thing we were talking about can be done without the signiture. So let me know if you're interested and I can get a sample e-mailed to you bro.

AlanG Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 (edited) Glasgow to Banbury burning 45 litres. My fag packet calculations work out at about 33 mpg, which is not too shabby for a 2 Litre turbo charged short geared rocket. Banbury to Glasgow 12 Litres of fuel consumed. Granted it turn out to be a 27 hour day from driving it at circa 60 mph Approximately 330mile journey for 45 litres to give 33mpg. 12 litres to get back up. With no other means of chemical combustion within the cylinders that would mean 330 miles consuming only 12 litres of petrol and nothing else would add up to 330/12*4.545= 125 mpg. iain_ogston Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 I generally work out I need a litre just under every three miles in my modified RA.
