Will be stopping off at Happendon tomorrow to see if that statement holds any truth. Even if the engine is fubar i reckon there will be still enough salvagable bits to make the lifting of the block into the back of the van worthwhile.

Stick some tennis balls in the combustion chamber and stick it on Ebay as a competition block, one nutter of an owner

so what dictates a race car?

Great point, if your on the strip your racing the guy next to you in your very own wee race car, so there all race cars. and likes of John going to events like Kames etc he goes to race in his race car, WRC cars are road legal but still race cars

They should all be in the same class, if any stock internals and forged internals or even displacement. just my tuppins. :D

im sure all cars on the 1/4 mile thread are road legal?

I'll have a go whatever but i'm sure grant is referring to the forum challenge of 2 years ago

when jc scoob horsed all and sundry. :D

Wot a day :P

I remember that day, had a ball.

It was us two in the final and there was less that a car length in it. Think there was meant to be an MLR/SIDC grudge match but they must have been washing their hair that day.

Colin it was good racing you, only a bah'hair in it, exiting stuff B)

MLR - there bottle crashed , pooooofters. lol :P

I cant race this time round as cant afford to blow up unmaped P1, for now. But will deffo come to watch. :P

note to self - note going daft with mods

Sun 8th June

Sun 6th July

Sun 3rd August

Sun 17th August

Sun 14th September

Sun 12th October

Sun 9th November

Sun 23rd November

They are the remaining 'normal' thrash days at Crail for this year... obviously some are waaaay away, I'd guess that popular choices will be the July/August dates so that the weather is still good for this and people arent waiting too long for this to kick off. B)

Would be nice to invite the MLR along again, end of the day, if they dont show then it'll be Scoobs everywhere.. but if they do show, then we'll get some decent competition on the day rather than 1.1 Saxos and Corsas.

Cheers,

Grant

That sound's a great day out count me in if it's in July...only home for a month.

Regards

Chris.

I'll second that too.....should be a great day out.

How can you win against a fully stripped out race car on any track...

No matter how much weight i take off the car it will be nowhere like a strip out monster of JohnSt but i'll give it a go anyways LOL.

HI ALL I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A POINT

My intention was to try and sort out a day like last one , where everyone went up and met up and all had a really good time at the event/day.

It appears that some people wish to take all this a bit to serious (RACE CAR, ROAD LEAGAL ???????????)

It's my own choice should i wish to remove my Interior out any of my car's, which are all road legal mota's the hardest part in building a fast car is keeping it legal.

As for trailering cars to and from event would any of you be willing to PAY for the collection and return of ma car from crail to perth should the worst happen ??? NO well thats my point

I Think some people are confusing about why i started this thread, has something to do with my Andy's -N car

I just want to see if i can get closer to the other 11. sec runs in the scottish scooby qutr miles thread

in my own car's be it one or the other that are both road legal and will be trailered to and from Crail.

I hope this clears a few things up ok lol

Not wanting to go off on one but this is a perfect illustration of my point. It sounds very much like you have a road legal race car rather than a road legal road car. If it's a road car why not drive it there and back? Sure you might brake something, just like the rest of us. We'll have to PAY to get it home too. That's my point.

I don't think I'm taking things too seriously either. I'll turn up and have some fun but won't be moaning if I get beaten by any road or race cars. I couldn't care less who or what I'm running against as I'm only racing the clock.

Should be a good day out.

Having a trailor for events and not using it is like having a dog and barking yourself.

If a car has an mot it is road legal. Where track cars dont have to be road legal, I imagine thats why all the big events like scooby shoot out ect require all cars to have an mot just so that there is a common ground to work from, the rest is history!!!

Grant at AWD makes the dailey round trip to and from work of 40 odd miles in either one of his scoobys, Andy N also comutes to and fro work in his.

Good point. So why have one at all for a road car? Out of interest what does he tow it with, his road road car?

If Grant, or anyone for that matter, has to trailer a car to any event it has ceased to be a true road car. The raod is the bit between your house and the event after all.

I fully appreciate the work, time and money that goes into creating a fine piece of machinery like the ones at AWD but lets call a spade a spade and be done with it.

I hope to be taking part when this comes off, & I will be taking the car down from Aberdeen on a trailor. The reason being that I will be going flat out trying to beat my old time, and there is no way that I am paying around £200 to get it taken home if I break it. It is taxed, tested & insured.

I think it is rediculos to expect John St, Grant or anyone else to to drive their cars when thay have a trailor at home.

If you can and do drive it on the road then that is a road car, is it not?, the idea of taking a trailor with you to events is purley down to being prepared for the worst and being able to save yourself a few hundred quite to get your car home, makes perfect sense to me.

I can see this thread getting silly!!!!

I agree, if I was going to be taking my car to an event to thrash it as hard as I could I'd want to take a trailor and be prepared for the worst. As has been previously said if the car is MOT taxed and insured then it is a road car. If it is trailored then they have just decided not to drive on the road that particular day.

Exactely Podraig, just go and race. Who cares! If you get pumped by a weapon which is purpose built then you half expect it, when you race against another car prepared same as your own thats the thrill.

Every man knows where his competition lies, the big boys can do some testing etc, normal dudes (If in fact any of you are normal ;-) ) Know where your fun lies,.

Your against the clock and you can draw your line in the sand there.
