No probs Jim, and congrats to you both, sorry for the belated post.

Lol did I ring mid proposal? >>

Ha ha - not quite matey. face-icon-small-smile.gif

<< Jim can?t believe how much hassle your having with the leggy mate; anything I can do to help lets us know.

And you had her running so well after fitting the TD05 and fixing the boost leek. >>

Yes it was running well until I started swapping ECUs around etc ready for when I get my voschip. It has shown up error code 45 with 3 different ECUs now but that wasn't showing on my old 8 bit one. I believe the newer 16 bit ones may be more sensitive to picking things up which would explain why it wasn't picked up before. The code means faulty pressure exchange solenoid or map sensor but I've tried Andi's solenoid, and tried a different map sensor I had and the code is still there. Am a bit stumped now. face-icon-small-sad.gif

But my new leather interior is getting delivered this avvy and I'll be fitting that (probably in the rain this afternoon!). face-icon-small-smile.gif

Right ok, I?ve been doing some testing this evening to try and get to the root of this. I swapped out a couple of parts beforehand which included removing the VTA BOV and replacing it with the original one, and replacing the vacuum hose from the manifold to the pressure exchange solenoid and from that to the map sensor.

Swapping these bits made no difference.

So next I attached wires to various sensor wires at the ecu plugs so I could easily monitor the voltages or various sensors.

After doing this I tested the MAP sensor and the pressure exchange solenoid to see what the voltage readings were compared with the specs shown on the ECU diagrams I have (for an early WRX).

The Map sensor tested:

Ignition ? 2.71v

Idle ? 1.47v

(Ignition spec: 2.4-2.7v)

(Idle spec: 1.4 ?1.6v)

Pressure exchange solenoid tested:

Ignition ? 11.66v

Idle ? 13.58v

(Ignition spec: 10-13v)

(Idle spec: 13-14v)

Now seeing as the voltages being returned at the ECU are within the correct ranges for both the map sensor and the pressure exchange solenoid, I?m now really at a loss to understand why the ECU is giving error 45 which indicates a fault with one of these two. Doesn?t make sense to me.

All suggestions as to why it?s erroring when the sensors seem ok will be gratefully received as this is starting to really make me mad.

Good morning all ...face-icon-small-wink.gif

Jim dude is there a company in the uk that is near Liverpool or Haysham that can sort the Leggy out ???

I know it will cost money , but it will save you going crazy M8......

Andi - don't think that's the answer to be honest but cheers for the suggestion.

If they have a select monitor it'll probably only tell them what I already know that the sensors are giving the correct signals.

It's something else that I think needs to be found via a lot of head scratching etc. face-icon-small-sad.gif

Have had enough of it now though.

Anyway - can't afford extra trips across now I've got a wedding to pay for. face-icon-small-blush.gif

Won't be ready for TT Jimmy sadly. face-icon-small-sad.gif

New engine is in and running but I'm waiting on a rear master cylinder before I can put it all back together. Might need a new gear linkage too as there's quite a bit of play in my one.

Can't wait though!

Sorry to hear that Jim dude , I wish that I could help you out M8 .

Talking of help , Could you give me a hand sometime with my leggy Jim face-icon-small-wink.gif

It is just to find out what parts to stop that knocking in the front !!!

<< Yes mate no problem! Just give me a shout at some point over the weekend. face-icon-small-smile.gif >>

Thanx bud, Iam off to London again next week, so I can get my parts for the leggy while Iam there...

Wish I even knew what parts I needed for mine!!

However with a bit of luck I might have an idea fairly soon.....

What was up with it dude?

Yay - just got a new brake pipe made to replace the burst one on the rangie and it only cost a fiver. They weren't going to do it until Tuesday and I want the rangie to take the boat out on monday but after a bit of "oh no, I really need it doing" they made it - only took 2 minutes! Only worry is if it's long enough to reach as it was the last piece of pipe they had.....

Bad news is that my exhaust got ripped off going down my mum's pothole filled lane from the downpipe back. face-icon-small-disgusted.gif

Good news though was that it was blowing a little anyway so whilst it was off I dragged out the old noah's arc welder and sorted out the gaps where it was blowing. Sounds much smoother now. face-icon-small-smile.gif

<< Evening dudes, how did the TT go?

Paul >>

Its only practise week Paul. Serious influx of bikes around now until next weekend and then a 10 minute journey turns into a 45 minute journey face-icon-small-sad.gif

Got my pushbike at the ready for to and from work though face-icon-small-wink.gif

Morning dudes!

No Andi - haven't spotted that one but the other day I saw what looked very much like a black twin turbo RS going past.

Nice grey R32 GTR going round at the moment too!
