paul n Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 << Lol dude, thats timing for you, and I was only joking. >> Yeh spooky dude << They do look good, bet you will be shocked to find out how long your car really takes to warm up, I was. >> << Needless to say water temp means nowt >> Your right about water temp, realised the oil would take longer but still a little suprised What have you set your warnings to? Boost 1.4, only had 2 short runs, peaks at 1.2 Oil Press 1.5, idles at 2 when warm, but will drop just below if backing into garage & revs drop below normal tickover Oil temp 120 at the moment, need to lower, maybe to 100? Does the above sound right? << Plan worked then dude. >> Sure did but don't tell Debbie lol << So now you're ready for my next box of tricks when you come over >> Been told to stay away from your motor next time Dude LOL but may have a look just for research purposes Cheers Paul

Does the above sound right? >> Dude, I have my boost set to 1.2 as that is the peak for the standard car, that way I can tell when it overboosts as it does hit 1.3bar due to my mods. This is just a safety as I aint got a remap, if i had i would have it 0.1bar past peak. Oil Press I have mine at 2.5 bar car idles at 3. Oil Temp got mine at 115. I would set yours at 0.1 past 1.2bar so you can tell when it overboosts, or set it at 1.2bar so you can tell when you hit peak and how long you hold it, your choice. Oil Press 0.5 bar below warm idle so yours it set right, but your idle sounds a little low, what oil are you using? Oil grade determines the pressure in your system, I use Castrol RS 10W60 which gives me 3bar warm idle, this is also better for your engine. It's not a big problem but maybe on your next service put some Castrol RS or Motul 300v in. Oil Temp 110 - 120 depending on how hard you drive the car, plus how often do you want it beeping at you.
paul n Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 Morning Dudes, Thanks for the info Dave Dude << what oil are you using? >> Running Castrol Magnetec, dealers serviced so, should be OK, may be worth supplying my own oil at next service? Cheers Paul

Cret Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 Yeah, I got a tatty old ZZR600 that needs tidying up and putting through its test. Will make a nice little project and with a bit of luck (ie funds permitting for buying parts for it) should be running by summer.....
andy_bray Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 Jim dude, the ZZR was the bike to have in its day ....
Cret Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 Yeah all the stuff I've found says it's a brill bike but not great suspension. Needs a fair amount of work doing but I'll enjoy it and will know the bike inside out when it's done.

Cret Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Well I'd love to say yes but it will depend how quick I can get the bits I need and when I can get it through its test. Just got it back to the mrs house though so at least I can start pulling it apart now to get it all done up....
CustomScoobyIOM Posted March 1, 2005 Author Posted March 1, 2005 Dudes! Nice choice Jim, im looking at the moment for a bike. Got a choice between a 04 Yamaha R6, 1999 Kawasaki ZX-9R or a 2000 Suzuki Hayabusa Zx-9R is a favorite!
