st3ph3n Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Trying to help my mate out as he's looking to hire a car or a van for towing the race car up north for a weekend. Anyone know anywhere that can do such a thing? cheers!
martin_allen Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Robinson's Hire Drive in falkirk have always been cheap. Not sure where your mate is based though as it might be a bit far to come and collect it. That said, it's round the corner from mine so could leave the scoob there! 5t.
st3ph3n Posted April 29, 2008 Author Posted April 29, 2008 I'll tell him to give them a call. Don't see anything on their website about allowing things to be towed. Some hirers don't allow that.
martin_allen Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Ah! well never been a bad price although i can't remember if the vans had a towbar fitted or not. Hope it helps chap. 5t.
st3ph3n Posted April 29, 2008 Author Posted April 29, 2008 That it is Neil. He has a trailer but no tow car yet
JohnSt Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Terzo Neil said: i take it its for the fintry weekend FINTRAY !! Don't want him sitting in the Campsies wondering where everyone is !!
JohnSt Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Stephen, what kind of road cars does he have ? ---john---
st3ph3n Posted April 30, 2008 Author Posted April 30, 2008 John, can we send Neil to Fintry and everyone else to Fintray? Anyway, he's got either his Citroen C4 or his wife's Civic Type R. So neither of them are really suitable for towing.

st3ph3n Posted April 30, 2008 Author Posted April 30, 2008 John, he got a covered trailer and I think the combined weight of that and the westie would take the towed weight up to about 1000kg. So might put it outside the limits for towing? It's the old 2 litre petrol engine in the C4 he has so it's only the 130bhp version, not the newer 180.

No listed on current site but looks fine to me, assuming railer is braked http://www.citroen.co.uk/new-cars/citroen-...specifications/
st3ph3n Posted April 30, 2008 Author Posted April 30, 2008 It's the Coupé he has - http://www.citroen.co.uk/new-cars/citroen-...specifications/ - so the max braked towing weight on the newer 2.0 is 1100. Need to see what it is on the older engine with less guts. The trailer certainly is braked (some might say broken!) though.
martin_allen Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 It does largely go on weight not power though. Might be up and down the gears a bit but in theory he should be ok legally... 5t.
