Smiler AS Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 (edited) Firstly, New brakes required! OMG! What a different machine. Secondly, Im glad I never went for the VF34 turbo ugrade, yet! I Would have parked my car in god knows how many boots of cars in fornt of me, especially coming off roundabouts! lol! Anyway, 2.5 WRX now with approx 273bhp, and 345lbs/ft of torque at only 3200 revs with a std. TD04, makes the daily drive a hoot as 3200 revs is where im often at! Thats just under a 100lbs/ft more than std. Yippee!!!! Std. figures are 233bhp and around 249lbs/ft of torque. Thats a big jump! Did get it mapped using 97RON as car is daily user and cant reallly justify running V Power all of the time (prob would have added around 10bhp). Will get graph scanned and put up the morn. Plus, better fuel economy!!!, Andy was saying my throttle sensor thingy was basically off or on 100%, with that adjusted I can now cruise quite happily, prob save myself about a £10 spot a week. Thats the mapping sessionpaid off in a year then!! Also, an excuse to put up a fresh pic too.... Edited March 10, 2008 by Smiler AS

cullenmin Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Good results there, I know the feeling after I had MY00 turbo mapped to that kind of bhp, its like having a new car again Got to slate you for mapping it on 97 Ron though Rich
andrew_forrest Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 It is a really smart looking wagon, amazing the difference a few subtle mods can make to the looks
Smiler AS Posted March 9, 2008 Author Posted March 9, 2008 (edited) Cheers for comments guys, just to get a chargespeed front splitter sorted out and that's me done with the outside. Thereafter, brakes then gauges..... And maybe a short throw kit too.....I'm sure the list will go on if I try hard enough too! LOL! Edited March 9, 2008 by Smiler AS
fai17 Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 yes you'll need big anchors m8. Andy is AKA God...you do wonder why.
thewelsho Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 (edited) Nice one mate. I have the VF34 in my car (MY06 WRX Saloon), so you are in for a very big treat when you do finally go down this route. Like you, I wanted mapped for standard fuel but Andy looked at me like I was stupid and I caved in! Enjoy your "new" car and bravo to the fuel saving part too! Oh and yeah, bigger anchors will be required! Edited March 10, 2008 by TheWelsho
scooby222 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 cars looking goood smiler, your sport was nice but this is great! nice figures, must be a dream to drive- you go for full decat and induction kit or just a new filter? and what chargespeeed splitter you going for and where from? you can pm me if you want as im planning one too so we could maybe get a discount/group buy?
scouk Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 (edited) New brakes required! OMG! What a different machine. That's what' I've discovered with mine.. Find myself having to brake MUCH earlier these days. Nice results! Just like having a new more sporty/drivable car It's amazing how this can be done and still save fuel! But we shouldn't grumble... Certainly shot off like a cannon when I met you the other day Wish I could have torque figures like that P.s. That wagon really does look good in the flesh! The rear tinted windows really add to it's appeal! Edited March 10, 2008 by ScoUK
micra_wrc Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 ....Did get it mapped using 97RON as car is daily user and cant reallly justify running V Power all of the time ... good stuff good on ya for getting it mapped to 97RON, it was something I had thought about doing
bogie Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Nice results. What exhaust etc you running? I've currently got my wagon with PPP, but might go down the Andy F route to enhance it a bit
Smiler AS Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 Graph Added below 345lbs/ft of torque! Thats just under a 100lbs/ft more than std. Yippee!!!! (graph... to do, wont work at work!!! ) Chargespeed splitter will be one of them in the pics at bottom of this page... Chargspeed Spliiter Exhaust thats fitted is H&S bellmouth full decat downpipe (2 part to allow for easy fitment of cat), fitted by AWD Perth, Scoobyworld 2 1/2" centre section and custom made 2 1/2" back box, air filter is green cotton panel filter but have also installed a Moto GP air intake elbow (does away with the silencer and creates a more direct air feed), can hear the turbo spooling up louder too, plus prodrive Y hose. Loads of other handling goodies too.
G.Mac Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 welcome to the slipery slope of Scooby modding, I bet we hear that your back to Andy withing a year or so!!! Graeme

I have Prodrive springs but nothing else in the handling dept, but I need to get it to HyperTech to get set up properly.
euan_r Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 nice torque yeah your best mapping to lowest fuel you will use. hmm.. you havent hanged about we the mods
Smiler AS Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 hmm.. you havent hanged about we the mods Yeh, prodrive springs and whiteline anti roll bars have changed the cars handling to match the power too!
bogie Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Yeh, prodrive springs and whiteline anti roll bars have changed the cars handling to match the power too! What is the diameter of the whitelines vs standard and do you change all the bushed too?
Smiler AS Posted March 11, 2008 Author Posted March 11, 2008 What is the diameter of the whitelines vs standard and do you change all the bushed too? The std's one were laughably thin!! Front was only around 17mm and rear about 15mm, definetly front slightly thicker than front as std. which ended up in loads of understeer. To be honest I was gutted when I first got the car with regards to std. handling for a hawkeye WRX, I took it back thinking something was wrong. So the Whiteline setup was one of my very first mods, and definetly reccommend it. I have put 22mm fixed ARB on the front and an adjustable 24mm ARB on the back, so the soft setting on the back ARB gives perfect balance (cant seem to loose it try as I much on the roundabouts) but I can fix it up a notch for a bit of oversteeer fun when required. Definetly do the droplinks (which incorporates their own bushes) too, again I used the whiteline steel "S" shape ones, you can get the hardcore "C" shape one but were more costly and maybe more suited to track use. Andy from AWD Perth had a quick run in the car and seem quite impressed with handling, he thought the ARB's and the droplinks were doing more "handling" work than the springs too.
bogie Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Cheers, I'll start looking into this and boring my wife about it!
