JohnSt Posted December 13, 2008 Author Posted December 13, 2008 STi Brembos removed, these bad boys installed in there place
st3ph3n Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 They look particularly massive John. Never had you down for doing much braking though
colin_ross Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Don't be fooled Stephen, those are 13 inch wheels.
JohnSt Posted December 13, 2008 Author Posted December 13, 2008 They look particularly massive John.Never had you down for doing much braking though What makes you think they'll be used ? The Disks are 2.8kg lighter than the STi Brembos that came off
AlanG Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Don't recognise the discs John, what make are they?
arch Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Those wheels are nice John could do with a clean though
JohnSt Posted December 14, 2008 Author Posted December 14, 2008 Those wheels are nice John could do with a clean though I'm sure the new owner will take care of that Alan, Performance Friction. ---john---
JohnSt Posted December 20, 2008 Author Posted December 20, 2008 Been doing a lot of thinking recently and decided the way forward for the car is to replace the MAF based Apexi with something a little more capable. Don't get me wrong the Apexi has been great. Really like the convenience of the Commander as you can diagnose issues and tweek the thing really easily without running around plugging laptops in. Last year I had Simtek firmly in my mind, and still like it, this one ticks all the boxes though. Nice to be spoiled by choice This is what we have chosen. Very impresive wee box. Does everything I could need and backed by some very clever Peeps. I doesn't take a 'Rocket' scientist to figure out who'll be doing the tweeking for me Specs here: http://www.solaris-ecs.com/

RA Dunk Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Last year I had Simtek firmly in my mind, you ALMOST had one as well
JohnSt Posted December 21, 2008 Author Posted December 21, 2008 I might still ask for my 'Loaner' back

I doesn't take a 'Rocket' scientist to figure out who'll be doing the tweeking for me Same as what I have..................... You go S6 GP or PNP? Did you go for the full Knock Control option too? Mines been sitting in the box in the bedroom with the MY99-00 loom adaptor since November (Pat never had the S6 PnP ready in time to install into Godzuki for Andy to map before I went to Oz for the Winter so I got supplied the S6 GP with full harness adaptor, 3-Bar MAP sensor and full Knock Control option instead) Have to agree though, Spec-wise its brilliant Great job from Charlie and Pat with the ECU..................... and Mark too for supplying it Russell

(or is it the other option that applies ) S6GP, I'll build a bespoke loom for the car so not really an issue (hopefully) The knock control appears to be the big benefit over other products out there. The Help and Advice from Pat and Charlie have been second to none. It would be a brave man that questioned Pats' technical knowledge. Just need to sort out everthing else that should be under the bonnet and time is marching on......... ---john---
frank c Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 The knock control appears to be the big benefit over other products out there. ---john--- Any idea if knock control is due for the SimTek John ? I'm lead to believe it's a warning system rather than knock control atm...
JohnSt Posted December 21, 2008 Author Posted December 21, 2008 Hi Frank, I wouldn't know to be honest !! What's that often quoted term ?............... Oh, Yes............ Speak to your Mapper
frank c Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 lol.. will do. Just thought i'd ask as you've obviously done your homework on the subject and it's the only concern I have with this ecu
RA Dunk Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Any idea if knock control is due for the SimTek John ? I'm lead to believe it's a warning system rather than knock control atm... yup i can confirm, its set up like the apexi ecu though, just a flashing CEL light when picking up knock

Russell
JohnSt Posted December 22, 2008 Author Posted December 22, 2008 Cheers Russ, hopefully I won't cock it up and have to take you up on that ---john---
JohnSt Posted January 11, 2009 Author Posted January 11, 2009 (edited) Well, you can't keep a Good Man and his 'Pad Saw' down I always say ! Craigs' been busy in the garage The rear of the car has looked something along these lines since build Having thought about it the clam shape of the rear bumper is nothing but a big parachute So Craig was at it today with his trusty Saw and the result looks like this. Still a job in progress, but well on it's way. I'm sure most will recognise where the idea came from Edited January 11, 2009 by JohnSt
