micra_wrc Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 (edited) I'm doing a run through the Highlands on Sunday 4 May - see thread in Events here Had thought about doing it in April but forgot I'm busy in the first 2 weekends and therefore will be skint in the last 2 weekends lol May is a busy month: - Mon 5th May is a bank holiday - Sun 11 May is the Scottish Motorshow at Knockhill - Sat 17 May is the SIDC track day/Time Attack - Sun 25 May is the Jim Clark Rally as well as a 1/4 mile in Crail - Mon 26 May is another bank holiday Have decided on the 4th as most folk will have been paid and its a fairly quiet day event-wise. It is however a public bank holiday so guess we'll have to cross our fingers that the caravans decide not to go up north that day check your diaries, get mods fitted and car back on road, start saving petrol money, check football fixtures to see if your team is playing, check that its not the wives birthday/family anniversary and come out for a nice drive through the Highlands cheers Imy Edited April 25, 2008 by micra_wrc
micra_wrc Posted February 23, 2008 Author Posted February 23, 2008 oh and hope the Elgin and Aberdeen boys can make it. can look at an alternative meeting point for you guys to save you traipsing all the way down to Perth to head back up the road again
scouk Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 oh and hope the Elgin and Aberdeen boys can make it.can look at an alternative meeting point for you guys to save you traipsing all the way down to Perth to head back up the road again He hee.... Was going to ask you about that... Heading down for the start is a wee bit much, but I'd be more than happy to meet you guys at the middle point up here! Sure we can get a few more to come along if that was the case
micra_wrc Posted April 15, 2008 Author Posted April 15, 2008 main thread in Events updated to start the list. any pre-run chat in here. i'd better get my tyres and brake disks checked over, havent really looked at the car since Knockhill
cullenmin Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Imy - How many miles is the run from Perth to Perth? Al - How many miles is our route? Do you have one sorted out for us? (don't tell me it though ) Rich
scouk Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 (edited) Imy - How many miles is the run from Perth to Perth?Al - How many miles is our route? Do you have one sorted out for us? (don't tell me it though ) Rich Just finsihed tweaking the map on autoroute/mappoint will need Imy to confirm a wee part of here route. Approx just under 200 miles.. Worth noting that up until the point where we break up both groups woudl have done more or less the same mileage.. Which makes the meet point perfect as we shoudl justa bout leave at the same time and hopefulyl arrive at more or less the same time! That's the plan anyway! But we have slightly less distance to get back to Elgin than they do to get to perth.. Not much in it though... Edited April 15, 2008 by ScoUK
thefastone Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 I thought that last year, starting from Perth was OK, but splitting off from the lecht was about right for us... Oooh, and I'm going to make this too!!! Woo!
scouk Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 (edited) I thought that last year, starting from Perth was OK, but splitting off from the lecht was about right for us... yeah, from Aberdeen it's virtually 50/50 but Perth is possibly a better place to start from.. The Northern start point is really for: a ) an alternative for those who want a slightly shorter run, or maybe just wan't an alternative route.. b ) for us lazy northerners who can't be bothered/afford the run down to perth as a start point but want to be involved! (i.e. me!) I'm hoping the north start point will encourage more folk from the north to come along rather than take people away from the Perth start point of previous years! I'd want this to become a huge SIDC event from all over Scotland! Edited April 15, 2008 by ScoUK
micra_wrc Posted April 16, 2008 Author Posted April 16, 2008 Imy - How many miles is the run from Perth to Perth? Al's estimate of approx 200 miles is about right, from Perth to Perth
scouk Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Boing! Surely there's more interest in this event than this!! Last year had a great turnout!!!
gus the bus Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Boing! Surely there's more interest in this event than this!! Last year had a great turnout!!! Wrong date for me again working

micra_wrc Posted April 25, 2008 Author Posted April 25, 2008 how does everyone feel about this pending fuel shortage?? dont really want to take you on a 200 mile run if there will be a shortage of fuel during the next 2 weeks
empty_heed Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 how does everyone feel about this pending fuel shortage??dont really want to take you on a 200 mile run if there will be a shortage of fuel during the next 2 weeks it might be bit more practical to postpone
scouk Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 I'll let you know after the weekend,.. Got a few miles planned Front what I can tell it's mostly diesel supplies that are causing the problems.. And realistically for those on V-Power that'll probably be the last to go after diesel and normal unleaded. V-Power is possibly the last fuel to run out.. I hope... Will be heading past shell in keith tonight for a topup so I'll see if any restrictions are in place yet.. Need to get my 2nd batch of ferraris collected
RS Grant Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Definitely going to take a few bottles of octane booster with me in case 'normal' 95RON is all that is available... Cheers, Grant
scouk Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Well just back from Keith fuelling up.. 1/2 the station delivering unleaded, NO Diesel at all! and all pumps supplying V-Power! Demand is definately for diesel first.. and as the wifie behind the counter said its all business vehicles that are coming in and filling up before the weekend so they are not stuck come monday morning!
cullenmin Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 I hope this run goes ahead as I have been looking forward to it. I know what your saying about the V-Power to be the last to run out, but as soon as unleaded becomes a bit sca***, you know what the regular driver will be puting into their rafts! Diesel will be first to run out so when that goes, only then I'll start worrying...until then.......What fuel shortage?? Rich
westtra Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 been down to crief(i love the road from the a9 to crief now) and back this weekend and no problem getting fuel from elgin, crief & aviemore. not much ques either.
scouk Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Stay tuned to the "Events" thread for an update on what's happening! http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtop...30669&st=60
