scoobyseller555 Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Had a visit yesterday, and cannot believe what a stunning bit of engineering this is.Must be the quietest diesel i have ever heard.Reading 55.1mpg and with a top speed of 129mph and 0-62 in 8.7 it isnt slow, ppp and what a car. AMAZING Gav
terzo neil Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 but its powered by the fuel of satan and i work with big diesel engines pushing out over 1800 bhp
scoobyseller555 Posted February 1, 2008 Author Posted February 1, 2008 Start at £19995,it maybe the fuel of satan, but in september an impreza that can do 55mpg and be tweaked for performance, its got my vote. Gav
cullenmin Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 It could be the way forward but its just WRONG
RA Dunk Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 would be a perfect daily driver and leave the real scoob for weekends though
JohnSt Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Start at £19995,it maybe the fuel of satan, but in september an impreza that can do 55mpg and be tweaked for performance, its got my vote.Gav How will it do towing my 'other' Impeza ?
RA Dunk Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 How will it do towing my 'other' Impeza ? would imagine with it being a torquey diesel burner it would do quite well
scoobyseller555 Posted February 2, 2008 Author Posted February 2, 2008 How will it do towing my 'other' Impeza ? John, with such a large wave of torque i reckon it would be fab,its the fuel economy i was enjoying though, and its the quietest diesel engine i have ever heard. Gav
G.Mac Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 wonder what sort of burble it would have if you gave it a full decat Graeme
andrew_forrest Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 wonder what sort of burble it would have if you gave it a full decat Graeme I did read one roadtest that said it does have slightly unequal length headers and there is indeed a hint of burble on the diesel. Its a bit ironic however that Subaru build an engine that 'should' knock and its apparently whisper quiet, meanwhile on the petrol version.....
billyboy Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Not convinced.Just wait till those plastic timing chain tensioners -uck up and your engine goes bang!!
Alan-G Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 (edited) John, with such a large wave of torque i reckon it would be fab,its the fuel economy i was enjoying though, and its the quietest diesel engine i have ever heard.Gav ?- Gav Is it the 3 litre deisel non turbo your on about ? When you mention PPP has it been improved by prodrive or balk standard for that price ? Have to admit in white, the new WRX is - well - actually a'right looks wise. I suppose its just the getting to the new market look that doesn't really impress me. However , at Ian Grieves today, me and Fab-1 saw the new legacy outback Hawkeye estate. That car rocks. I can now understand why Gus the Bus chose a leggy for his next project. Honestly though, we've got the old bus fron Gus and what a WRX in sheeps clothing. It's an extreme laugh at the lights when your typical 'back to front hat brigade' Nova driver pulls up wi' all his mates' wanting a pint and a fight just off the green light. Fab-1 melted an 'older' 535 BMW the day. (safely I must add). Happy motoring folks ! Edited February 2, 2008 by Alan-G
scoobyseller555 Posted February 5, 2008 Author Posted February 5, 2008 this is the 2.0 turbocharged engine with 150ps as standard, long term upgrade in the future probably 200ps..........sounds good to me. Gav
