pmacFTO Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 (edited) Anyone know the place in Livingston? It's in Deans - just remember vaguely speaking to the guys who run it and afaik they were both Scooby owners. Has anyone been to it and is it any good for a small group? Some of the FTO guys are having a Scottish meet and were going to go to Cambuslang's Karting place but I mentioned the one in Livingston after someone said we'd need guards for the cars in Cambuslang lol. Any info would be great! Edited February 1, 2008 by pmacFTO
sti pretender Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Don't know the one in Livingston but Xtreme Karting in Larbet is good was there in November and is in an industrial estate about 1 mile outside Larbet so cars would be safe, also might be more central. http://www.xtremekarting.co.uk/
sKunk Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 The Livingston karting place is OK, not great though. If you are willing to travel a little further then I would recommend Raceland, which has indoor and outdoor tracks: http://www.raceland.co.uk/
pmacFTO Posted February 1, 2008 Author Posted February 1, 2008 Thanks for the info guys - Raceland would be preferred but is quite a trek for the people coming from Aberdeen and Dundee etc. The Livingston one did look quite small when I was in one day.
speech Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Yeah, I've been to the one in Livingston - went to Edinburgh for my Stag and best man organised everything through "Chilisauce", apparantly "Karting in Edinburgh" actually means Livingston!!??? We went with about 16 guys and it was fine for that, we were split into 2 groups of 8 for the races as any more would have been a struggle on the course as it is a bit on the small side, but was good none the less. Have only been karting twice, first time was outdoor up north of here at Boyndie which was a hoot so this was first time indoor and wasn't too shabby. Not that many places to overtake so leads to some interesting moves in the corners!!!
terzo neil Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 boyndie karting circuit is a hoot espically when not in a go kart will post up later
dan_jess Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 another shout for Raceland, its well worth the trek. Been there a couple of times and going again for a stag do in June
Big Gordon Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Raceland looks awesome, used to live about a mile from Scotcart in Cambuslang.
ormiboy Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Raceland is very good, but the livi place is also fine. it was cheap and defo worth the money when i was there about six month ago. But if you can get the folk to drive a bit further then raceland is a whole new ball game. Willie
neill54 Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 the livingston one is fine if there is only about 5 or 6 of you only takes 18 sec a lap when your really going for it neil
cullenmin Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Raceland outdoor track is fantastic, well worth a visit
dan_jess Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 18 seconds a lap! Last time at Raceland the best time in our group was a 1min 3 secs and that was quick, guess you definetly get your moneys worth there then haha!
scouk Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Excuse the thread hi-jack.. Never been karting myself but would love to get into it... Anyone got a decent list of Scottish tracks? The one at boyndie is only about 30 mins from me... Think there's still one up at Golspie IIRC.. (both outdoor tracks)

(both outdoor tracks) Boyndie is a private track which you have to be a member of to get on AFAIK A fantastic day out would be an SIDC event at Raceland in Edinburgh, I'd be well up for that! (possible Elgin/Highland day out in the summer)

(possible Elgin/Highland day out in the summer) Aye that raceland track looks pretty decent! Been down to the track at thruxton once to watch my brother race in an event.. Really need to get into this, and spend some money on something else other than the scoob for a change Getting to the end of my self-mod list now There's just sod all in this part of scotland for motorsport.. scouk Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 videoclip from inside my trackcarhttp://s60.photobucket.com/albums/h29/Terz...nt=golspie1.flv That looks like a s**t load of fun!! Nice driving skill BTW! Bigger track that I expected!
pmacFTO Posted February 10, 2008 Author Posted February 10, 2008 ok, just back from Raceland and it's awesome - very professional setup, everything is well maintained and the helmets and overalls look good and don't stink like other places!! Outdoor karting was great fun = we paid £25 for 10 mins on, 10mins break then another 10 mins - 1st time karting for me and I just got a feel for the handling but was aching already after the first session!! lol 2nd session was much better and we were all keen to go back on but decided against it and went in to get food and watch the stag do guys on the indoor track. Well up for a day (or night) there if anyone fancies it - a bigger group with a competitive aspect to it all would make it even more fun! There was also a WR1 there which I think is the owner's.

Would LOVE it! I already said it on your WIY thread, so I am not going to repeat myself and be even more boring than I already am.
