Would definitely stick a meter over the terminals to check the

new battery firstly. Could be an immobiliser issue with the

dead battery an all. A wee phone call to a dealership

might steer ya in the right direction ??

Hope ya get it sorted Iain.

First of all, do you have (and are you handy with) a multimeter for checking voltages?

Eh, soryy mate, No and No im afraid.

Did however phone Iain Grieves and the guy suggested possible blown fuse, one of the biggies ie 50A or 80A. Have checked the 50's an theyre ok but cant remove or see properly the 80A to check it.

Aye, do you have a test light? I don't know what the 80A fuse looks like or where it's located, but maybe use a test light or something to check if there's voltage on both sides of it?

I sent you a message on MSN, I can walk you through some tests if you have the equipment.

theres the fusible link in the main fusebox as well if you didnt notice it. funny how theres absolutely nothing, other than fuses/wiring only other alternative i could suggest could be ignition key.

Thanks for the help chaps, much appreciated. Euan im not sure what the fusable link looks like tbh( useless at these things). Battery is okay as tried it on my van and it worked nae bother.

My ignition key wont be the problem i dont htink as it has been de-chipped to allow for the gsm alarm to be fitted( have already checked with manufacturer an they say the alarm/immob wont be affected by a flat battery, and wont affect the electrics of the car either).

there is a wire link (small black wire) inside the engine bay fusebox at the very front, worth a check.

when i said key i meant electrical connections at back, long shot anyway.
