the squiggle Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 (edited) OFFICIAL WEBSITE FOR THIS EVENT http://www.mcrae-gathering.co.uk/ McRae Gathering 30th and 31st of August 2008 In the past few months since the sad passing of Colin McRae, feverish work has taken place behind the scenes to create a tribute from the Subaru community with the view of celebrating the life of a true legend. Now that official permission has been obtained from the parties concerned, McRae Estate, Jimmy and Margaret McRae and Prodrive, and approval for our plan been obtained from the relevent authorities, this is the time to release the details of what is planned. An event taking place on the weekend of Aug 30th and 31st comprising of a convoy of Impreza's from Lanark, Colin's home town and Prodrive in Banbury. An overnight stop comprised of either camping for the hardcore or Travelodge/B & B's for the not so hardcore and a mass Subaru meeting on the Sunday at Prodrive in Banbury. The maximum speed of the convoy will be 10mph less than the given speed limit for the road and NO excessive speed will be tolerated by ANYONE. Everyone taking part in the convoy will have one of these stickers on there car to designate that they are indeed part of the convoy. Details of cost and how to obtain the official stickers will be made available in the next week or two This event will be posted on every Subaru BBS/Club/Forum across the land SIDC Scoobynet 22b.com P1 Owners Club RB5 Owners Club Irish Subaru Drivers Club AberdeenScoobies AyrshireScoobies SussexScoobies ImprezaSport.net LADS MidlandScoobies Scoobycity Southernscoobies Southwestscoobies.org.uk WYIOC SurreyScoobs DevonScoobs Essexscoobs Sheffieldscooby SMACS TypeRA.co.uk WR1 Owners Club CumbrianScoobs Please inform me if i have missed any clubs from the list and i will join up to the ones i missed and help get everyone involved Any questions please do not hesitate in the slightest and foward your enquiry to McRaeGathering@hotmail.com Edited July 8, 2008 by Andy

micra_wrc Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 had a wee thought about this and got some [daft] questions: - are we going to try and raise money for the Charitable Foundation or is this more of a mass gathering and party to celebrate Colin? - how are we going to manage the attendee lists that will appear in each website?
the squiggle Posted January 11, 2008 Author Posted January 11, 2008 had a wee thought about this and got some [daft] questions:- are we going to try and raise money for the Charitable Foundation or is this more of a mass gathering and party to celebrate Colin? - how are we going to manage the attendee lists that will appear in each website? Both very pertinent points 1. Yes we will raise as much money as possible through one or two ideas. Whatever profit from the stickers will be the starting point for the fund raising, Marty (Scoobaroo) has a cracking idea of a Sprint challenge at Ingliston against the Scottish MLR members, Autotecart have given support at this early stage in the form of some excellent Limited Edition McRae artwork and a quality piece of clothing to commemorate this great event similer to the RBRelay polo shirts 2. I have a list made up and when people get a sticker sent out to them i will add there real name to a central list. This should let regions make up there own list and allow me to keep track of the expected total Hope this alleviates any concerns

I'll set it up so it asks name, Website/Club, which days attending etc etc

Time booked into the diary for this one already Can I also make a wee suggestion of a charity Auction/Raffle if we are indeed fundraising too? I'm sure I can get some bits and pieces from Paul and others will be able to contribute items too. Count me in! (in whatever Subaru I may have by then Edited January 11, 2008 by Gus the Bus

the squiggle Posted January 11, 2008 Author Posted January 11, 2008 Grant, Do you want me to add it to subaruforester.org (there is a European section) I'm aware of a good few members who will take part. Gus Update, I've posted a clicky link in the Forum That would be grand my good man, the more the merrier as long as they drive a Subaru then they will be made most welcome................... So far i have signed up for 32 different forums, for the last 9 hrs my world has been like the Matrix I sure picked a fine time to quit smoking
WRX Haz Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Hope you dont mind.. I have added this to my website as there are quite a few subaru owners on it? (I have put it for the attention of subaru owners only) Jamis has already added us to the interest and I think its a great idea.
StrikE Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 I will be at this more than anything, might want to add mcrae series owners club to http://www.phpbb88.com/smoc/index.php?sid=...amp;mforum=smoc
andy Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Okay, Grant knows his Scoobies and there's no doubting his love and loyalty to the Maestro, but he is a total technophobe when it comes to websites so, despite saying I'm never taking on another website project again after SIDC, it's once more into the breach, dear friends. I'll grab the bull by the horns and sort the geek side out. The OFFICIAL website for this event will be www.mcrae-gathering.co.uk For now there is only a holding page, but this website will contain all news, registration details and info as and when it becomes available. This will give individual clubs and people a central source they can then pass out to their members, will ensure a central site for registration and will ensure we make this an event to remember as is only befitting. The website is registered and paid for by me personally and is hosted using my web resources. It is not affiliated to any Club or organisation. I'm really hoping any bad feeling that has existed between factions of the Subaru community can be put aside for what is sure to be a once in a lifetime celebration.
