Alan-G Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 Interesting start to 2008 this morning. Went from Perth to Hamilton to visit the outlaws (+ to get pashed) and went to lift a tenner from the Sainsburys bank machine. Car park is TOTALLY empty - Jen me missus says I think there open WTF (not 1 car) At the bank teller I notices a really tacky leopard skin handbag on top of a bin/fag bucket. This is a naturally Human curiosity gold mine. So as a good citizen and a wink from me missus - I bring it back to the scoob. We quickly looked in the bag for address/contact details and found........... A mobile, a purse with £45 notes some highlighter pens - some tasty credit cards - a letter addressed top the owner it would seem - and some Dentifix ! So this is no dolly bird me thinks. So - did the right thing and me and Jen (+wee hollie, all 2½ years of her) went to the hamilton cop shop to hand in the find. So there am I , givin' me details to the rozzer when 2 old biddies come in the door One of them clad in matching cheap tacky Leopard skin jacket as the handbag, And I take one look at the copper and says "ts got to be hers" And it was She broke down with relief whilst her sister comforted her. Was really quite nice - + she gave me a £20 for a drink - but I told her we'd buy a nice present for the wee one instead. Honesty pays. and what a great start to 2008. 2008 may have been very different for that biddie wi' the obvious plastic fangs. Best to you all. Alan + Jen + wee Hollie.
frank c Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 Well done Alan, good to here about a bit of honesty..especially these days.I would have done the same myself. Must have been a huge relief for her to get her things back. Don't think I would have excepted the £20 though..

micra_wrc Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 good for you Alan. Great coincidence the owner turned up and you were able to reunite her with her bag. ps - your thread title had me worried there, thought I was going to read about another scooby theft

martin_allen Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Good work. I think you have to hand it in when it obviously belongs to someone/has details. Kids would have striped the good stuff and left the bag and gum glue! 5t.
Enne_aitch Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Same as you mate.... Ditto Nice Start to the New year. Nick
thefastone Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Nice one Alan... Gennerally, if theres stuff like bank cards or a mobile phone, or something to identify the person, I would try to get it back to them, either by the cop shop or getting in touch with them if I could... If it were just cash dropped on the floor however... any amount... no identifier (ie: I never saw them drop it)... and I'm afraid that would be lining my beer glass at a bar near you...
gus the bus Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 aye ,yer no a bad lad! aye despite what they say top work again mate
