scouk Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 After TheWelsho suggesting eyelids for the bugeye impreza a few weeks back I decided to photoshop some together. I never really liked the look of eye lids to be honest but after putting images together I think it's starting to grow on me. But the general feedback I've had so far is a big fat NO! Just curous as to what you guys thought.... (it's maybe a little OTT) Before: After: Before: After: flame suit at the ready
seafar99 Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 and would the 'eyelids' not be covering over your directional indicators?
Double Zero Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 As a fellow Bugeye owner, i'd say no. I have Morrette's on my Bugeye and i think they look much better than the standard one's even with those Eyelid's. Stevie _________ 01 WRX
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Go for Morrettes or STi lights. The eyelashes look way too aftermarket IMHO Cheers Cal
gus the bus Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 ....................or if you cant afford the Sti or morettes you could always start by detango-ing it by fitting Chrome bulbs
thewelsho Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Eyelids - NO Morrettes - YES Jen I'd say yes. I see a silver Bugeye once in a while going through Castlemilk on its way to EK. It has been de-spoliered with the little lip spoiler in its place, it also has the eyelids and a nice exhaust note. The car overall looks very unique and one of the best looking Bugeyes I have ever seen. On that basis, I'd say yes.
scouk Posted November 2, 2007 Author Posted November 2, 2007 I guess that answers that question then My concern was that they would look too after market. The front splitter is bad enough TBH.. never mind.. If the standard bonnet came down that far it'd probably be quite smart.. but it doesn't. As for covering the indicators.. (cant find appropriate image off hand) but they woudl cover most of the indicator allowing 3/4 of an inch for the indicator to project through.. But even with that I wonder if the local police/MOT station would accept them.. I kinda got used to the bugeye stling after the initial shock in 2001 and I never really planned changing the headlights. Keep thinking about it every so often.. Would like to see it with a set of STi lights just to see how it would look. Morrettes were a good alternative but nearly every 2nd impreza has them now.. Common as muck! The angel eye's are quite smart but I'm not sure they would suit the car..
scouk Posted November 2, 2007 Author Posted November 2, 2007 ....................or if you cant afford the Sti or morettes you could always start by detango-ing it by fitting Chrome bulbs I thought about that earlier in the year and bought appropriate bulbs. But then discovered that the bulb isn't orange, there's an orange globe around the bulb that makes the tango! And didn't feel up to pulling the headlight apart..
marky.t.s Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 fire a set of these babies on Al.......chavtastic mate
scouk Posted November 2, 2007 Author Posted November 2, 2007 (edited) errr... no.... I'd rather stick with the standard... Of course could always go totally overboard and replace the wings/bumper/grill/bonnet and then fit a set of blobeye lights! If I coudl make it a hawkeye I'd be tempted although totally out of line in my books.. it's a bugeye and that's how it should stay! Making it look like somethign else is just "chavtastic" Car is sitting on the edge of that line already.. (which isn't good) Recently took the SUBARU lettering off the rear window to try tone it down a bit.. Edited November 2, 2007 by ScoUK

(sake can't belive the swear filter wont let me say that!)yourself. Still like the idea of the "lids" though! Edited November 2, 2007 by TheWelsho
colzo Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 NO mate, think they would spoil your car. I like the smoked STI ones.
WHITEUK Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Go for morretes, i think bug eye with morretes looks the best impreza by far except hawk eye J
scouk Posted November 2, 2007 Author Posted November 2, 2007 (sake can't belive the swear filter wont let me say that!)yourself. Still like the idea of the "lids" though! LOL! Yeah I think if more people in the UK had them they would be more accepted. Seems to bring the line of the bonnet down so it makes it close to a horizontal line across the front (similar to the line on a classic) My concern with the c.tastic impressions is that the front already has a handful of changes and the eye-lids may be a step too far. Also I kinda like the idea of keeping the car looking as though it's not got a aftermarket body kit on it, but rather looking more "official" If you know what I mean. Hence the UK300 wing on the back. Front splitter is the only thing that's abnormal but it's similar design to what's on a blobeye so I think I get away with that. Maybe not so much hard o.n. but more just a picky so and so.. NO mate, think they would spoil your car. I like the smoked STI ones. I've always liked the STi lights for some reason. Not sure why.. Just something about them even with the bugeye lens over them. They would be my 1st choice over morettes. To me morettes kinda look like the front of the car has been bashed (either that or have a set of missile silos), but they are agressive! Had an Sti follow me in the dark the other night and the light that comes off them is evil!! Tried to photoshop STi's onto it earlier but couldn't get it right. But to get the idea here's a photo of a red mica JDM with the appropriate lights
colzo Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 (edited) Know what you mean by keeping it looking official, thats the way I think when I`m modding. STI headlamps, period. Edited November 3, 2007 by COLZO
scouk Posted November 3, 2007 Author Posted November 3, 2007 (edited) Hmmm ok... found a reasonably suitable doner STi image (would prefer higher res one though..) STi: (a.k.a. The Borg!) Scroll down a couple posts for a better STi image WRX: I'm starting to feel the standard WRX lights look best now.. Maybe it's just different... More thought required methinks.. Edited November 3, 2007 by ScoUK
vicki Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 I'm starting to feel the standard WRX lights look best now.. No eyelids, no morrettes, both horrid.
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 If I were you I would go for some 18's next. The mods to the body kit have made the car look lower and more aggressove but in the process this has made the wheels look puny and miniscule by comparison. Just my thoughts. It's each to their own. You clearly enjoy what you are doing and that's the aim of the game ! Happy Days

Maybe next year for the summer Edited to add yet another STi image, this one had better light levels and is more realistic: Edited November 3, 2007 by ScoUK
thefastone Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 (edited) I dont know Al, I think that the Sti lights would siut your car very nicely, ecpecially after seeing your photoshop efforts, if Morettes are not your bag, then i would say that these are the way forward... Oh and I agree with Cal-ski the wjeels need to go.... I reckon that some nice *dark* perhaps anthricite - Gunmetaly PFF7s woud be awsome on your car mate! and I think that it woudl sharpen up the image of your car no end without the Chav look that you want to avoid... In fact someone has a very nice colour on their car that might suit, in another thread.... (He's just painted his Calipers....) Edited November 4, 2007 by thefastone
