ANDYJDMSTI Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 (edited) Well i awoke yesterday morning at dark oclock ready for my 4 hour drive from Tokyo to Sendai and Sugo Raceway. I was invited by the driver Genki Nishamura of the ZELS Mitsubishi race team as his guest to watch the race...........with no hesitation i agreed!! It was the second to last race in their series (last one being on the 13th at Motegi), there were 4 classes of cars racing (ST1, ST2, ST3, ST4). ST1 were the big boys - BMW Z4, GT3's and a couple of Nismo 350's. ST2 were STI's, EVO's, 350's, RX7 ST3 were EVO's, 350's, BMW's, NSX, RX7 ST4 were mainly FF hondas In all there were about 30 cars racing, 2 drivers per car so there is a mandatory stop to change drivers. Here are a couple of videos of what Sugo is all about - So on we go, i arrived at Sugo at about 0930 - Also saw these in the carpark - My arrival in the pits i was greeted to this - i know i have seen this guy with the blonde hair before but cannot think where (squiggle should know)- more to follow.......... ANDYJDMSTI Posted October 29, 2007 Author Posted October 29, 2007 The guys then took their cars out for the formation lap on the grid, then it was time for me to wander round the grid - Here is a closer look at the 2 scoobies running - and some of the rest - Genki and his car (very unique as it is an EVO Estate) - more to follow.........
ANDYJDMSTI Posted October 29, 2007 Author Posted October 29, 2007 The race itself was great, these guys do not hang about, the fastest (BMW Z4) was averaging about 1:28 a lap with genki in his EVO doing about 1:32. The track itself is pretty twisty and technical - Quick pitstop - At the end of the race i was on the pitwall to see the cars finish - Then the guys went and got their prizes, the team was running an EVO 9 and the Estate and they came 1st and 2nd in class and 7th and 8th overall. Overall it has got to be the best day i have had at any track, the cars were fantastic, the hospitality second to none and the women..........well you can see for yourself!!! Just a shame i am not here for afew days more as i was invited to the ZELS corporate day where they mess about in go-karts and have track fun with the new EVO X.............oh well, am sure there will be a next time! THE END!!

ANDYJDMSTI Posted October 29, 2007 Author Posted October 29, 2007 That NSX gives me the boioioiooioioioing. Also, the 350z - is that oil coolers mounted at the rear? Just hearing the NSX was making me dribble, sounded just like the ARTA NSX. Yeah i think it is oil and transmission coolers on the 350.
