4Hero Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 I think the poll should decide and not a few peoples votes, it's only fare no?
billyboy Posted October 11, 2007 Author Posted October 11, 2007 Well it dont really matter anyway as i dowt i will renew my MEMBERSHIP for a site that will take a vote from 8/9 folk on this matter!!!! and by looks of it there is a few more who think the same way Well this has finished me for good this time.Im due to renew in a couple of weeks but it aint happening. My apologies to the members who have been reading this thread and wondering what the hell is going on ive had my rant and thats the end of it. james666 Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 sorry to hear that Billy but in our defence, who were the ones that liaised with Yorkhill, made up and distributed donation forms, collected the money, made 3 shopping trips and organised temp storage last year?I dont want to get into a slanging match with you, we've both made our arguments for and against doing Yorkhill. Santa Cruise is personal to all of us and I put so much effort into organising things and being proactive every year. I dont want to get into a bunfight. Lets just set a deadline to agree what we are going to do, and get things moving before we end up doing a shopping trip the night before the Santa Cruise... like we did last year IMY are you saying you don't want the hassle of doing shopping trips?? because i'm sure there are other members and their famillies on here that would gladly do it all. I would have no trouble helping out for this When i joined this forum last year i bursted my #### and got some thing like £600 which i thought was not bad considering because it was for a good cause SICK kids! which i thought thats what SANTA CRUISE was all about......

the squiggle Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Aye nae bother Grant. You seem to be making all the calls regarding santa cruise, runs etc.Get a membership.Oh and dont start with the "you dont go to meetings etc" no fun in driving the same roads again and again is there? This is the last you will hear from me im not renewing this year as the Glasgow area is once again going down the cluggie.Billy Only being an active forum user, or does this place discriminate between member and forum user because sometimes the forum users do more for the greater good than the full bells and whistles members do, i feel that sometimes being proactive gets things done instead of sitting back and just thinking of maybe doing something. Regarding the runs, a lot of thinking, planning and financial cots go into setting up the runs and this year the Gla area had 6 different runs on different roads so your accusation of "no fun in driving the same roads again and again is there?" goes right up the swany. This is the first month we have had a sit down inside kind of meet and the topic at the top of agenda was this years Santa Cruise. It was advertised in the Events section under Glasgow meet Oct and inside the thread the contents stated that the topic on the agenda was Santa Cruise. Regarding my membership, now that hodit and doddit have left our forum i have been meaning to renew my membership and since i only found out last Thurs that i could renew online, so maybe i will renew i dont care what you and grant think jus because he thinks the sun shines out of mcreas ring.why was the donation sheets made up when no one had asked the members opinion? Thats is a bit harsh The decision was taken over FIVE different events in the last month, The Glasgow meet, the Service of Rememberence at Lanark, the emergency meet at Lanark, Imy's October run and the McRae Stages at Perth. Ample oppertunity for anyone interested in Santa Cruise to have put their thoughts across and the outcome was a democratic decision and not out of ****ing order. At these 5, yes 5, different events the overwhelming opinion was that Jerviswood was the way to go this year and hence the reason the donation sheets were made up and distributed. So you are completely wrong when you assume that " no one had asked the members opinion? ", my psychic abilities left me when i was 2 years old and never returned. For this i apologise but as for not asking anyones opinion, that is just krap and you owe me an apology. If you dont appear at meets or events how are we meant to know what you opinion is regarding matters that seem frightfully important to you. If you cant attend these events there is a thing called the Interweb that lets you leave crucial messages on a thing called a BBS, a program that holds the info for others to view and reply if they feel they have an opinion on similer matters. It is not just Imy and me that thinks the sun shines out of McRae's ring, as you so solemnly put it, but 136 owners that attended the convoy from Happendon to Lanark also thinks the sun shines out of his hole, as you so disrespectfully put it, and he had the ability to turn water into buckie. Maybe Colin meant a wee bit more to me than some of the people on here. Maybe thats down to Colin being a customer of mine whom i met on a couple of occasions or maybe it is down to sitting with a numb ar$e on a freezing cold stage and soaked to the skin just to catch a glimpse of Colin going past in Max Attack, sadly a sight i will never see again now that he is no longer with us. So when that bloody helicopter hit the ground a wee bit inside me died also, people say hey life goes on but sadly for the 4 occupants of that helicopter life does not go on To give you idea of how much Colin meant to me, couple of days after his cremation the Peter Kaye-a-like in my work told me that he had a joke for me. He only got to " I played Colin McRae Rally on the " and i interupted him to state that if this a joke was about Colin then the fat Peter Kaye-a-like would be going to hospital very quickly. He never finished his joke as the look in my eyes stated i was serious and i was willing to throw my job, cause i probably would have got sacked on the spot, away on a point of principal. Braveheart, C.H.A.S and Make-a-wish are the 3 beneficiaries of the Jerviswood Trust, 3 childrens charities that we have a chance to make a difference to this Christmas. Just my opinion but hey i attended all five events, six if include the Abz charity night for which some of you should be ashamed as i offered to run everyone up to Abz in a minibus but only 2 others from the central belt traveled. Yours disgruntingly Grant

james666 Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 (edited) Gotta ask who you calling hodit and doddit??????? and i dont remember anything getting said at the run on sunday about this santa cruise or the memorail things and who made you the R.O for glasgow region???? Edited October 11, 2007 by james666
frank c Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 (edited) I think this is getting a wee bit ott folks. No need at all really. I'm sure most people would like to make more meets/runs but due to work, cost and location ...it's not always possible. Some people are lucky as there are more people in their area or they are closer to other regions to attend things. Sad it's come to this. Edited October 11, 2007 by Frank C
the squiggle Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Your Apology All time low Billy, thought you were maybe a bit more mature than that
micra_wrc Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 ah, Gumball's famous "revolving door" may be back in use
4Hero Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 what happened to Gumball anyway Imy? Still got the focus thingy?
the squiggle Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 what happened to Gumball anyway Imy? Still got the focus thingy? Gay 5 series now i believe of the Turbo Diesel kind
frank c Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Lets hope so Imy. It's times like these we should be sticking together not having a go at each other..
paulc555 Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 has anyone saw fit to ask the other regions what they would like to do? just wondered as I am organising the rolling road event at Hypertech for Santa Cruise..... has the decision been made already then about where the funds are going..... ?????????? I normally keep a low profile on forum "heated conversations".... however this ones confused me! Paul
4Hero Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Paul, I'm not one for getting involved, but there's a poll
st3ph3n Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 I read this topic and a little part of me dies. Do we give Yorkhill toys for the wards like last year, or do we give some terminally ill children a little slice of happiness? Either way we're going to do a lot of good. I don't really care where the money ends up if I'm going to be brutally honest. I just wish that we could all get along and remember why the **** we're doing this in the first place. Please, think of the children but don't act like them.

thefastone Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 You know reading this, I'm a little surprised, dont get me wrong, I figured that this would be a hotter topic for some than for others, but the reactions... Yeah... I think that some of them a BIT more heated than I expected... I dont really think myself that this is the place to be getting into a slagging match, as at the end of the day, we all want the same thing, for the money to get to the kids, whatever way it can... and to be fair, I dont know, at the meets, when it was brought up, I was kinda for it, and kinda against it... but for different reasons... As far as I am aware, the Aberdeen Santa Cruise is still going ahead as planned to the sick kids at Forresterhill hospital... Yes, I think that its a great idea to give to Jerviswood and I would love to put some money there... but... there is a few things that niggle me about that... not big things mind... and I'll say them here, although, I'm not trying to be offensive, or take sides, or tread on anyones toes by doing this... I'm not getting involved beyond this... Firstly, Jerviswood is a great cause... and yes I do back it, but my thoughts are that, what with the events of a few weeks ago, and the familys asking for the donations and also the collection points on the day of the service, I think that they have probably taken in a huge sum in the past few weeks... an I'm in no doubt that they will continue to take in a great amount for a while yet... with this in mind I wonder, how much help the Sick kids gets through the year... Secondly, as someone pointed out, we are having a big event next year, I think August has been mentioned? going to Prodrive, and doing all that, and I would really like to see us do some really good work in the run up to that to make sure that we have a fantastic donation to Jerviswood then... otherwise, I just feel that they are getting a big amount off us twice in under a year, and our other charity, who there are many here who clearly feel very strongly about, is getting nothing from us... I think that perhaps just to balance it out more than anything else... But I think that both charitys are gaining from our support by keeping things the same... another train of thought comes from a comment, on a kinda unrelated topic, On Aberdeen Scoobies earlier on today, with the bad image that we have been taking from the younger guys that are buying imprezas cheap and then terrorizing the world with them, to give to the community, thats another reason to stay with the local charitys, I think that it would help the club no end in raising the profile of the club by giving directly to the community... Now I am sure that the nominated charitys do good work.... but you dont always know where the money goes, and the general public have no idea where it comes from, or where it goes to... I know, I'll be honest here, right now that I dont know where the money in big charitys goes.... Well I dont know, I think basicly, I in a way mirror the views of G.Mac, I'm just being honest about it all, I have to say that I do admire the work that goes into organising these events and all the work that goes on in the background to make it all possible, I really dont want to see that go to waste, at the end of the day, no matter where it goes, I will support the decision of the poll, as regardless someone is going to see the benefit! thanks for listening... Dale.
scoobymadburd Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Being a girl who first supported Grampa Billy when the Santa Cruise began i am in full support for Yorkhill this year again, unfortunately due to circumstances i could not take part in last years Santa cruise due to personal Health reasons. 2 years in a row i was allowed into the ward with SIDC and i got to meet the kids and what an experience it is. Kids are ill in hospital and when they get a present whether it be big or small they light up and i think it makes their experience in the hospital a little more enjoyable. I spent many a Xmas in Yorkhill as a kid and seeing Santa would certainly brighten up my time in hospital over Xmas!!! Claire hoddit and doddit are back the revolving door is lovely
andy Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Just curious.. Who's hoddit and doddit ? Can we let this drop please. I really don't see any point in stirring things up again...
ally-b Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 (edited) I've read the thread and deliberatly not posted on it but I've had PMs , phonecalls and text regarding it . I don't mind who we raise money for as long as we do what the majority want - so it is up to you guys to sort it out. As RO I am , by definition , an organiser . Not leader , referee , 'great-dictator' or anything else . I don't/won't make decisions - thats your job. My job is to try to make them work. No 'decisions' were made before that night only 'suggestions' The few who turned up at the last meet decided what the Glasgow area would do and when I asked several times if anyone objected or had other ideas - no one spoke up . I had asked for the donation sheets to be made up for the meet night because it would get the 'ball rolling' and the feedback I'd had at the events leading up to the meet suggested that Jerviswood was the way we were going to go . If the decision had gone any other way the sheets would have been filed under 'bin' and new ones made up in no time at all . I've no problem with the 'poll' on the forum deciding what we do , it makes sense to go with the majority. I'd been seriously considering my position regarding Santa Cruise this year due to my lack of spare time as I am very busy at work for the next month or so (working 7x12hr shifts.). I put a hell of a lot of time into it last year and I simply don't have that time free this year . So whatever is decided we will need volunteers to do the various jobs which have to be done . I'm also worried that time is running out , so lets get this mess sorted quickly and decide who's doing what , before its too late ! Al. Edited October 12, 2007 by ally-b
frank c Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 (edited) No stirring here Andy. It was just a question to understand who they were talking about. Very impolite i thought too. Edited October 12, 2007 by Frank C
