clutdav Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 (edited) Well just like Gus I have started to play with the Mrs' Forester 2.5 XTEN. It was only a matter of time before it was modified in some way. Anyway this is how she arrived........... First mods................. 1. Front Lip Spoiler, 2. Black STi Grill, 3. Rear High Level Spoiler, I think that these really start to make the Forester look quite mean. I have a VF35 turbo and uppipe sitting in the garage waiting for her (she'll get done when i sort out the issues with my STi9 setup). A set of tints, mudflaps, 18's, lowering springs & an exhaust system should find their way onto her in the coming months. I just can't help myself. Should be one hell of a sleeper when the performance parts are on................ What do you guys think then?? Dave Edited September 10, 2007 by clutdav
AlanG Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 I think you're still showing a number plate in one of those pictures..
clutdav Posted September 10, 2007 Author Posted September 10, 2007 I think you're still showing a number plate in one of those pictures.. Thanks for that....................... . What a plonker Dave
gus the bus Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 (edited) I think you're still showing a number plate in one of those pictures.. glad to see I'm not alone Dave Regarding the suspension set-up if your running self levelling rear suspension you cannot lower it without the need to replace the rear struts for standard ones. Hence why I'm going for the full D2 coilover kit Also Dave is the front lip the subaru supplied one? I was in two minds but now that I see it on well, I think i'll just get one (along with the rear skirts) Edited September 10, 2007 by Gus the Bus

Do you have any info on this D2 coilover kit you mention, that you would be willing to share?? Dave

But you can get them thru Ebay for a very good price imported from New Zealand. Bloody daft when they are manufactured in the UK
fai17 Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Dave.....i like your performance mod of using your stuff from your STI 9...... Top notch.

clutdav Posted September 10, 2007 Author Posted September 10, 2007 Dave.....i like your performance mod of using your stuff from your STI 9......Top notch. Well I think it makes sense in the long run. The turbo, etc are just sitting there and I don't think I can be bothered with the hassle of trying to sell them on. Ta mate Also Dave is the front lip the subaru supplied one? I was in two minds but now that I see it on well, I think i'll just get one (along with the rear skirts) Yes bud the front lip is the genuine Subaru part that is in the options list - it does make the front end a lot more aggressive. It looked rather mean in the rear view mirror when the Mrs was following me the other day. Dave PS: thanks for the positive comments so far

Dave PS: thanks for the positive comments so far Dave have a look on www.subaruforester.org plenty of tips on there. Also, I'm gonna get colour coded rear spoiler and colour coded flaps direct from the states Subaru USA are FAR cheaper than UK supplies and provide a much wider range
gus the bus Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 (edited) Hopefully this will http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/D2-Adjustable-Suspen...VQQcmdZViewItem have we blocked ebay links nowadays? try this Dave for info but if you put Subaru Forester Suspension in EBAY you will get the link or copy and paste. http://www.nolimitmotorsport.com/d2-racing/ Edited September 10, 2007 by Gus the Bus
clutdav Posted September 10, 2007 Author Posted September 10, 2007 Gus, I take it if you fit the coilover suspension you lose the self leveling facility? That is rather cheap even delivered from NZ. I wonder how much the import duty/tax will be though?? Dave PS: Thanks for the info mate.
gus the bus Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 (edited) I take it if you fit the coilover suspension you lose the self leveling facility? No probs mate. Yes, the coilovers remove the self levelling facility as it is incorporated into the Strut. But if you have no intention of towing on carrying large loads in the forester then its nothing lost tbh Even with import duty (based on the price paid) it would be considerably cheaper than the UK £775 price. thewelsho Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 What do you guys think then?? Performance mods for a Chelsea tractor? Something doesn't seem right about that. but as the SIDC cry goes, "each to his own". If I were in your position, I'd blow it all on the Impreza. Good luck with it though, enjoy. John

nanaki Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 well when the Forrester starts overtaking a few people on the track that will wipe the smiles from a few faces. i reckon both projects are going to be interesting.
micra_wrc Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 mmm, that interior looks lush, much better than my RA's interior in terms of comfort...

I have blown loads of money on the STi9 so it is the foz's turn now. People don't buy foresters to pose in they buy them because they are bullet proof, have decent offroad ability, possess good performance & handle quite well for the most part. Driven well this 2.5XTEN could keep a WRX honest on a backroad. Total sleeper.............. Dave

Total sleeper..............Dave Here here! took the 555 for a blast last night and then went straight out in the Forester over the same route. can seriously see a lot of potential in the 2.5 Forester. Dave, John (Welsho's) "Chelsea Tractor" comments are purely founded on ignorance IMHO I'm sure he would see it much differently if he actually had a go in one! 225 BHP in standard format is no slouch and having had three Foresters out of the 7 Subarus' I have had tells you there is more to them than meets the eye. craigwrx Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 (edited) Yep, they are certainly a fast "chelsea tractor" for sure and can easily surprise a few folk ... Edited September 11, 2007 by craigwrx
