frank c Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 (edited) Had my r/cover gasket done today but some oil has dropped onto the wrapped up-pipe so now it's smoking and smells like ****. Got a mapping session on tomorrow so was wondering what's best to do ? Try and remove the wrapping or will it eventaully go away ( if it will). Dinnae want any last minute panics with smoke issues. I already had to cancel one session . Cheers. Edited September 5, 2007 by Frank C
ally-b Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 If the offending gasket-leak is sorted then go for it - the smell will soon disperse (unless its saturated ) I'm looking forward to hearing how you get on . . . Noo , get tae yer bed Al.

frank c Posted September 6, 2007 Author Posted September 6, 2007 Cheers Colin, i tried to send you a PM, but your inbox box is full buddy. I'll let it tick over again in the morning and see how it goes. It was more of a shock when i drove it home to see the smoke as im not sure how much was soaked into it. Thankfully Andy is just 3-4 miles down the road so i'll take my time and keep an eye on it.
AlanG Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 "Last minute advise please" Have a fish supper from the wee hut just round the corner from Andy's at dinnertime. The fish is huge and the taste is to die for! Yummy!!
frank c Posted September 6, 2007 Author Posted September 6, 2007 LOL...i'll keep it in mind Alan.. Right, now im off to see to the car and then away to Port Seton
frank c Posted September 6, 2007 Author Posted September 6, 2007 Awrite lads... The day went well. I was worried at first with the smoke issues but they soon went away after the drive down to Port Seton..As always , had a good chat and a laugh with Andy and totally enjoyed the session.. The car now pulls well right through the rev range and with a smooth delivery. Still nice and sedate driving through town but quick to spool up when on the open road. Well happy with what i've got and not ott as it's still used now and again for my daily driver. Just need to get used to the new noises after fitting the CA Kit..does sound weird though Thanks again to ALL involved and Cheers Andy , the car feels great.
ally-b Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Good to hear it all went well It should be quite similar to mine now IE quick spool-up and tons of midrange Frank C said: Just need to get used to the new noises after fitting the CA Kit..does sound weird though I'm always being asked what d/v I have , because of how it sounds - it is standard re-circ Did you get any BHP/Torque estimates ? Al.
drb5 Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Good to hear Frank, well in. Forget about figures, as it's too easy to be upset by them. As long as it feels faster, thats the main thing.
cjk Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Nice one Frank, glad the wait seemed worth it Colin

Yeah I noticed my inbox was showing as full too. I gues thats one of the "features" of the new board. I'll have to get busy deleting all the old one out. Until I've done it just start a new thread saying I touch goats if you need to contact me

frank c Posted September 7, 2007 Author Posted September 7, 2007 Steve , it's like an induction kit but the filter sits inside the inner wing instead of the engine bay. Hopefully to draw colder air in. I just wasn't expecting the noise or attention that comes with it. It sounds more like a d/valve from the outside. I suppose I'll get used to it
