scoobyfuzzy Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 ive had my classic import for nearly 3 years now, never let me down, only problems were wear n tear stuff like brakes n that for it mot, nothing major up intil now( touch wood) so its classics for me aswell fuzzy
fai17 Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 Don't talk to me about break downs...i think i've had my fair share......It will be really good one day... Drive a properly set up newage and you may be suprise at how good it feels.
frank c Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 Just a pity they are too damn heavy [] Up the Classics []
thewelsho Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 Quote Quote [][][][] Granted, I cannot make an informed decision regarding the older marque and its much newer and better looking counterpart, the NewAge. I'm STILL waiting on Marky TS giving me a go in his, then I can really say without fear that the NewAge is clearly the better machine. So there! John i was on my hols at the last track day mate and just got back yesterday so couldnt make meet last night, offer still stands though, one of these days eh??[] Aye! I'll hold you to it.

I'll hold you to it.This debate can go on and on.Lets just wait and see what new age Scooby's are like in 5 years time.Probably give just as much hassle as some poor people are having with their classics.Which i still prefer by the way.Oh i miss my Terzo. Billy
RS Grant Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 I've had 4 Classics and this is my first Newage. To be honest, I actually quite like my Hawkeye... [] Haha, in comparison to my MY99 with Prodrive Handling Pack, couple of Whiteline bits and Geometry set-up I'd say that my current STi would beat it around the bends on pace.. probably doesn't have quite as much feedback as the Classic did but its really minimal, and I've still got to fit all the Whiteline goodies to the STi, which should make a bit of a difference. [] The big plus for me with the Newage is that I'm not targeted/pigeon holed by the fuzz, the local scum dont think we're pals/racing buddies cause we drive the 'same' car and I've got a whole wall of torque/bhp that I can use as much as I want as I'm covered under warranty and not thinking in the back of my mind, how much a new short block/turbo would cost me if things go t!ts up. [H] Cheers, Grant
Double Zero Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 Look what you started Dave! Having drove Dtabbits car and my new age. It is night and day handeling wise. Plus I hate to admit it, but its much faster of the line to!! Should have got a classic!!!
wrxchris Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 they are damn expensive yeas, but sooooooo much fun. mines has been off the road since april and prob wont be back till next year, its all spirallin out off controll on teh mods front!!!! lol, but hey if u didnt spend it on the scoob ud be in the pub
wheelchairscooby Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 And in a few years when you go to sell it there is that many on the road it will go for buttons [:#]
virginia_angus Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 Don't do it !! We were of the same opinion about 4 years ago and we sold ours and bought a ford focus and i'll tell you i have never regreted anything so much. Focus was a good car but the fun factor was NIL !!!! Needless to say i have just bought another one, didn't go down to well with my hubby at first as he was only thinking of the pound signs and remembering the last one, but i bought this one so it's my problem and frankly i can live with that. Anyway my little girl loves it so how could i possibly disappoint her !!!!!!! Jen
john_mchutchison Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 Quote Quote i agree that a clean well looked after classic looks better than a new age, but there is nothing more reassuring than knowing that everytime u turn the ignition key the thing jums to life[] and then gets me to my destination, granted there is a chance it wont but MY03 wrx hasnt failed me yet (touch wood) <---------scratches head. my bro has had 4 classics and always something wrong with this and that and they rattle like and auld tin inside[] Fireproofs on!!!!! BTW,its me in the transit van that gives you a flash now and then in Airdrie and B/hill,is it yer old man thats got the Snack van in Mossend sometimes,do i get an SIDC discount if i quote my membership no.,lol. u can try m8[]
james666 Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 i will agree cost of ownership is rather steep, but you throw it oot the windy when you go a hurrle in the motor!!!! i have lost count how much i have spent on mine in last few months, mainly mods though but also had to get new radiator driveshaft, but just went through MOT with no troubles wot so ever!! BUT IT HAS TO BE CLASSICS ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! seen as the debate has popped up again!!!!!!! classic is so much more fun to throw around!!!!!!
