Guest AlanK Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 Just had a call from Bishopbrigs and the repair will be 5.5K so the car is no more.[:|] It is insured through Keith Michaels and all the mods are declared. What happens now? Am I able to get any of the kit like the wheels / AndyF ECU from the car (not that I could do that myself anyway)? How do I get like for like on the mods when the car is gone? Fek knows what I do now - every penny I had was on that car including £200 worth of new brakes fitted on Friday [:'(] Unless I get some amazing payout from the insurance company (which I think we all know wont happen) I will be lucky to have an old panda after this. Think I am gonna go cry now but any advice would be appreciated!
Guest AlanK Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 Will go into a bit more detail soon but for now it was about 20/30mph into a garage wall which then colapsed on top of me ( Could have been worse - the wall was me trying to miss a telegraph pole.
wrxmania Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 That's terrible news Alan. Hope you get a good payout. Stevie will be gutted - it was the best wagon on here! Brian []
the blue dragon Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 Thats no good mate [:'(], least your in one peice tho. Just got it looking nice too!! Hope you get something sorted with the insurance buddy cheers iain
iainc Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 I guess you *may* be able to buy it for salvage so you would get the parts at least even if it wasn't repairable. Depends on the insurance company though and how much they price it at if they are willing to let you buy it back. Sorry to hear about it though []
fmj Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 Before I had my scooby I had a modded 306 that I had spent about £3000 on bits. I was insured with adrian flux who also do like for like mods covered. When the assesor came he valued my car at £1100 which was actaully lower then book! He said it was because modded cars are worth less. Pretty pissed off with this I proceded to strip everything from the car and left a right mess for the salvage company to pick up. I never had any complaints from them as the assesors report doesnt detail what extra parts were fitted or anything the salvage company were none the wiser. As far as like for like goes I think if you write the car off and the mods are not damaged you just get to take them off and keep them as well as getting the pay out for the car.
gus the bus Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 Thats a real sh*t mate[:'(] I'd go with FMJ and take all your mods off before the salvage co appear and return to standard (or just take bits off and leave) Its salvage now mate so the scrappers wont be that bothered I'd have thought. Atleast you then have the mods for the next wagon[] Gus
