Yeah. I really need a little more power! It's a toss up between a map with some choice bits or PPP. PPP has its disadvantages, not least the cost, but the plus side is it keeps my warranty intact. However, after speaking to a few people, I'm going to screw the warranty and go down the alternative route. All I need now is some dosh! I think I'll have to put my treble winning autographed Celtic shirt on eBay!

There  isn't a real big issue with warranty.......just don't tell them and keep your service done at your usual Subaru garagewhich will sweeten them up if a warranty issuse arise.

PPP can be achieved for less than retail prices, but yeah you will loose warranty.

I managed to effectively PPP  my bugeye WRX for £300!! 

3rd cat delete pipe =  £55 (Thanks to Spaceman)
PPP Prodrive backbox £100 (Thanks to eBay)
Stronger Silicone Intercooler pipe(s) = £45 (Thanks to eBay) Never seen them that cheap again...

ECU - Well.. bought a diagnostic cable and plugged ECU into the laptop with some fancy OpenECU software. Downloaded a WRX PPP map off a newer model and modified it to work with the bugeye, but I also tweaked the early boost targets along the way and increased fuel economy in closed loop mode. = £100 (for the diagnostic cable) + £0.00 for remap [] (Just lots of hours learning)

Total = £300 (give or take a couple quid/pence along the way)

Like driving a different car!!!  More fun and more economical (surprisingly)

 

Warranty ran out ages ago but downside is there's no official certificate of PPP.. But you get the performance..

Pete, you just convinced me more to screw the warranty. I sent an e-mail to Andy F to see what he thinks, then its a case of rasing the dosh.

I`ve seen and heard you every time you come off a trackday, I NEED MORE POWER, well its only a credit card away m8 []

If the wife asks just tell her, we said everybody does it.

It also makes me feel better that im not the only one up to my ears in it.

And think yourself lucky that you have a Celtic treble winning top to flog on flea-bay, me, all i had was an Airdrionians Texaco cup runners up programme to flog.

LOL! As tempting as all that sounds, I do however value my life! If I hit the CC for a grand or so, I'd be hung drawn and quartered! I have just spent a fortune moving house on top of the £4K I have already spent on the car sine getting it a year ago, hence the lack of funds. It's just a matter of time now, but time means waiting and waiting sucks!
