    I think you boys are off your rockers, but I'm glad guys like you push the boundaries... because normal joes that sh!t an engine and require uprated parts can then buy the bits knowing that running them at 60-70% of what has been proven to work is the way to having a safe car. ;)

    To the original poster, if you wanna pull the posh poontang in St Andrews... its gotta be one of your german choices (or maybe a Honda S2000 as a jap alternative??) but if you're going to spend a lot of time on the internet visiting 'specialist' sites that cater for single gentlemen then it wont matter what you drive.. so best thing to do would be to take a drive of a few cars that interest you and make your mind up from there. ;)

    In my opinion, if an M3 or Boxster is out of your league back home, then why not give one of those a try over here??

    I have a classic ra and my m8 has a bmw m3 and it can`t touch me on a twisty road but can pass me in a straight line, i know a guy who had a porsche boxter s that after giving him a go in the ra sold his porsche and bought a sti type ra so thats the proof i have to make the the statement.

    To be honest, I've driven the E46 M3 recently and it absolutely won me over... in fact, after a drive in a 'normal' M3, my Impreza was put up for sale. I had the intention of spunking serious cash in the direction of an M3 CSL, however, I've thought better of it and decided that over 25k on a car which will get light use is a bit much for me to consider seriously.

    However, I would absolutely buy a 'normal' E46 M3. Ok, in a straight line, my Classic would beat it... but the RWD balance and direct steering make it far from a poor tool around the bends. In fact, on quick A-road, the Impreza would have to either be far more powerful or have a much more talented driver to pull any meaningful distance on the M3........ where the Scoob (and Evo) come into their own, is on the b-roads and unclassified roads where there are lumps, yumps and bumps a plenty and their rally derived set-up can start to show a clear advantage over the more top end cars which dont have so much compliance over these surfaces.

    A big plus point for me was the feeling of quality you get in the BMW, which is many, many leagues ahead of an Impreza (IMO).

    Anyone Want A Group Buy At Meercat Exhaust

    Well I wouldn't want the guys to have to chop up my Blitz exhaust to get a Meercat backbox fitted, so if the Blitz is coming off, then I'd be selling it as a CAT back system... meaning that I'd need a centre and backbox from Meercat mate, but I'm really not sure that the car would be running as it was on the Blitz, so that means I'd need a map tweak...... which I'm not too keen on, since I love how the car drives currently.

    Glad to see the car is being looked after Billy... :wub:

    I have got some Godspeed Discs and Pads waiting to fit to mine, so might be tempted to get the calipers done at the same time and make sure they are 100% tip top. Who did the refurb on the calipers?? Is it a 'standard' refurb, or have the pistons been upgraded to stop corrosion in the future??

    One of my mates just bought a RS, 28k. Now he is thinking about the manufacturers remap, 2k. So all in all, he spends 30k and walks away with 360bhp. I think I would rather follow in his footsteps not that I can afford one either. :wub:

    Depends what you want it for I suppose, a few of the guys on Passionford have ordered these RS500s and I'm guessing that they're going to hold onto them for a while.. I guess they have seen what happened with the previous limited run RS500 (Sierra Cosworth Based in 1987) and think that the same will happen here in the future.

    A mint version of a 3dr Cosworth would cost 15k max, where as an equally mint version of a Sierra RS500 would cost 25k minimum. Essentially (if both standard) they put out nearly the same figures and save a couple of small styling tweaks, look identical, but the value on the RS500 has stayed really strong.

    I'm not suggesting that this Focus RS500 will become as iconic as the Sierra RS500 (I don't think it'll be anywhere near as dominant in motorsport for a kick off..) but being a limited run with the RS500 badge, it could become a bit of a depreciation dodger.

    IF.. I found myself in the market for a Focus RS, then I'd be going for a 'normal' version and getting the Mountune Package fitted. I dont hold onto cars long enough to be concerned about long term desireability like a hardcore enthusiast for the brand would.

    True but the 22B came along when the Impreza was iconic... and every petrol head, rich or poor, wanted a piece of the action. Unfortunately times have changed and the status of the Impreza has dropped from that level.

    That said, with only 75 being made, its got to be one of the most limited edition cars produced.. which should keep residuals/status high.

    The standard brakes aren't bad Stevie Rollo... from the pics it looks like yours could maybe use a refurb?? The standard 4-pots are known to need an overhaul after a while, Ciaran on here does them on an exchange basis. Decent discs, pads and braided lines are plenty good enough for fast road work with standard 4-pots in good condition. :rolleyes:

    My comments were about the people that run John R Weir, which is the company that suffered these tragic losses... so I'd say I'm loosely keeping things on topic.

    Plus, since the OP chose to engage the comments in his own thread.. surely its ok to stay and discuss further if required.

    If these stolen cars have been taken from the Weirs directly, then I won't try and pretend that I'm unhappy about whats happened. Couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch of individuals IMO.

    However, if these cars have been taken from another dealer who will have to claim/foot the bill for replacements or even worse, private individual(s) who owned one or both of these cars then its a real shame and I sincerely hope that they are found quickly and still in the condition they were lifted in..
