peter_reid replied to kloon's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Gutted I can't make it!! Enjoy lads! Pete -
Thank God Wuz. I was begining to worry as I've heard so much bad things about others in the Aberdeen and Shire area.. for instance one of the Shire second hand dealers sell expensive scoobs with detailed BHP after speaking to someone who works for him, I was told that an Aberdeen tuner has agreed not to run any of his cars on the rollers. Quite sus really! That is two peeps I wouldn't touch with a barge pole. Obviously this is 2nd hand info but hearing this would any of you touch them? Good on yer mate! I am a 19 year old apprentice and can't afford to learn the hard way. Pete

Wuz!!! It's obvious why there is bitching going on. Reading this thread and the amount of work you have done, you are a big threat to the business of others. The car I have bought had a replacement engine (used STI) reciepts show a charge of £3200. The previous owner wasn't too clued up and told me the CEL light kept illuminating. Turns out that there are several components not wired up, badly fitted FMIC and useless and damaging ECU. All these are fixable as you know but this is over 3 grands worth of work done by an ABERDEEN TUNER!!! For this reason WE need a trustworthy enthusiast. Take it as a massive compliment. Pete

Cheers Russel! Pete

Still here but been working hard. Off to Dubai for a bit of a break Monday [] I have only heard good things about you Wuz. Surely there is some jealousy/rivalry or somthing going on. Pete

Don't do it Wuz please! I was waiting to get mine fixed. Hopefully enough guys on this thread will persuade you that we need guys we can trust. Pete

Had a 1.6 and it looked like an STI. I was always having to say "yes it's a 1.6" Actually, I've still got it as I was paid a deposit of £500 for it 8 weeks ago. 400 excuses later I'm still waiting for the rest. Thinking of advertising it. Anyone fancy it [] Pete

Get a wideband up the cars arse to make sure the fuelling is adequate and someone with some experience to listen through some ear defenders that are connected to the engine, this will let you know if the car is detting. If after you have done this and the fuelling is adequate and the det cans show up no noise then give the car soe beans till your hearts content A wideband air to fuel ratio monitor is a very sensitive device that will give an accurate measurement of the Air to Fuel ratio of the mixture being burnt in the engine. Too lean and it goes like a rocket for 10mins then BANG and too rich will sap a lot of power Det Cans are a set of ear defenders that are directly connected to the engine block and lets the user of the cans listen for the engine knocking, (detting, knocking and pre-ignition all mean the same) Where can I get this done in Aberdeen? Thanks Pete

Cheers Ruby. Makes me and my Dad smile! Pete

I am slightly worried about the set up in this car. I was told that 2 years ago it had a 2nd hand STI engine put in. This is where this website comes into it's own I think. Hopefully you scoob boffins can help a newbie out a bit :-) Pete

Were you at Pitfichie? I had a sh*t race. Would've had more chance on a sledge in that mud. Ally has just finished telling me that Scoobs are boring to drive because they hold the road so well! Lol! I'll be at Fort bill if i can afford the fuel like! Pete
-
Just you I think Lol. Don't want to think about building an engine when thesquirell555 totally lost me! Should've said reading 80,000 miles. dials converted 2000.
