Joking aside, you can put whoever you like on your policy as a named driver. If you are single, you can put any random female on your policy, providing they exist and say she is your partner. How will the insurance company ever know that they will never drive your car, they're not going to make a claim are they
-
I have driven in this country for 12 years and covered about 100,000 miles. I have never had a puncture. Just hope I haven't tempted fate
-
Where on earth did they pop up from. Never heard of them before and Ellon is my old stomping ground
-
Hadn't thought about that benefit right enough Added bonus of being able to spend some quality time with them aswell

Congratulations Russell. I just hope that BHP Developments will be continuing? If not, I'm selling all my bits and buying a C36 AMG

I can see the appeal of keeping it mint and driving maybe 3,000 miles a year during the summer on dry days, but doing 100 miles a year is totally pointless. A complete waste of money and garage space.

Oh no, not another thing I might have to uprate

As harvey says, Apex Thats where I'll be getting mine from

I think I'll stick with the autometer plan. They seem good enough for many....just cant bear the thought of spending £150 on each gauge
-
I'm only really bothered about accuracy. If your Oil Temp is not at desired level yet, but your gauge says it is, then you've obviously got problems etc. I would guess that the more you spend, the more accurate your gauge is going to be. But can it really be worth spending 2 or 3 times as much? Surely the likes of Autometer cant be that inaccurate or they wouldn't sell any of their products
-
Have read the other threads and its got me wondering.... I was all set to get a set of Autometer gauges as they seemed like a good compromise between price and reliability. Ie cheap, but not really nasty. The advice seems to be to buy the best that you can afford. I cant stretch to the Defi BFs, but I notice that they offer a Defi D range also. Would these be a better idea than Autometer and do you still need the Defi Link Control Unit? Also, I spotted them in Flat4online, but is there anywhere else that sells them on-line?

HKS Headers for £350. Ok they are second hand, but these would cost near £1000 new and they dont really deteriorate

reference the speed limits on the beach- Dont want to sound like a copper, but If you increase the limit to 40, then everyone will do 50. I saw a kid get knocked over at the beach when there were cars everywhere for a football match. He went flying through the air and landed on the tarmac. Luckily he got up and ran to the verge, apparantly relatively unhurt. If the car had been doing 50, we all know what would have happened. A limit of 30 beside the leisure centre would mean everyone doing 40 and that is a recipe for disaster. I agree that you cant and dont drive at 15, but I think most would agree that you tend to keep it at 30 max past there, just in case the powers that be are watching

I ran my Import WRX on 95 ron for 3 months before I discovered SN and SIDC. Didnt do it any harm, so its highly unlikely that yours has been damaged either.

I just pissed myself laughing at that Never seen that before

Does unplugging the negative end of the battery mess the alarm?
rossyboy1 replied to st3ph3n's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Unfortunately my mods wont be going on until after the winter as the car is SORN'd (at 12 years old, she needs looking after ) Thinking probably May after Mot and service in April (might get expensive ) Its going to be a long time for some expensive stuff to sit in a cupboard. Will make it all the sweeter when I drive out of Andy F's place though -

must admit, I did wonder why the battery would need disconnecting for a DV -

Only going from my own experience with an after-market alarm: Ensure that alarm is set to off, as in doors open (obviously) Keep fob handy to press if alarm goes off Loosen the bolt and try to get the clip off in one (My power kept disconnecting and re-connecting while I was unscrewing and the alarm and central locking really didnt like that) No idea about the tracker, does it have a manual? -
Thanks Russell. I haven't seen your car yet, so I wouldn't recognise you My car wont see the light of day until April, so you wont see it for a while Thats when I'm planning on giving you the task of fitting all my mods before the trek to see Andy F I think for £75 it'd be worth getting them done properly. I'll give you a shout when your back on this side of the world.

Russell, how much would you charge me for providing wrap and wrapping my HKS headers? I would do it myself, but I'm not convinced I'd do it right
-
I dont suppose you could make up some header gaskets Carl? I bought my HKS ones second hand and didn't get any gaskets with them No idea what the original ones will look like having been there for 12 years. Will probably need some for the up-pipe aswell
