  3. he pics up an audi a6 2.5 tdi on monday i think, said somthing about maybe starting a new job in aberdeen so went for the sensible diesel until he knows whats happening. anyway away to get the bird from work then back under the bonnet, one of the draw backs of using her car while mine is off the road. i am going to try half a click out as it always seems to end up that way. its really doing my head in now not had my car running for 2 months now.
  4. thats what it does all rite, bangs and hiss's, getting fed up takin that bloody belt on and off, oh drb5 did u hear madmonk (moncur) wrote his car off 2 weeks ago.
  5. ah cars there only good when they work, just can not get this thing to run smooth. looks like another nite under the hood.
  6. yeah dont have the tools just using allan keys sockets and our hands, we got it first time a month or so ago when i done the valves but had to strip it back down for the piston replacment, yeah we just stick a small allen key into the tensioner then pull it out when all lined up. but just cant seem to get it on rite this time just need to try until it purrs. cheers fellas.
  7. Hi guys looking for some help, finally fitted my car back together after a melted piston and rings and waiting a long time for the parts to arrive anyway, i have got the timing belt on, all marks lining up correct but the engine is running to 3000rpms then dying out and some times just idles really rough and sounds like back firing any ideas, i have had the belt on and off many times to try reseting it also putting the old belt back on to try but with no joy, the only thing that my dad and i can think is the cam pulleys on the right have spring loaded tention when set to marks but the left hand side are free turning can anyone say this is correct?? good news is that all four cylinders have full compression at approx 140psi again so sorted that problem.
  8. very nice.
  9. im in clydebank finnie, the only time im in shawlands is to take the misses to tusk for a bit of scran, great grub in there.
  10. fantastic finnie, to be honest it was the t section that was confusing me, did not know if the valve was fitted b4 or after, but as from the pic and ur description i can see it goes straight bang in the middle and the 3rd leg blanked off,was starting to get a baldy bit with all the scratchin the head and trying to make sense of the instructions supplied. Cheers mate, i owe u a jar.
  11. i have a gauge, so problem one sorted.
  12. welcome still new myself, but the fellas have some good info and sugestions to offer.
  13. yeah i bought one of those a month ago but aint fitted it yet, need to get it back on the road asap, itching to get back out in it, i will be looking for a little help when fitting it as i dont think the instructions i got are to clear. plus dont want to set it up to receive over boost. or u could take a pic in situ and send it to me that would help.
  14. Is anyone in here the person that drives a silver classic in the rogart area, im up there all the time on holiday or visiting freinds,i seen a silver scooby parked across from the pub in rogart, as i say i'm always up there and i also have a silver classic when i am up there i always get waves from passing carsthat must think im you. Just wondering if u use this site also??
  15. the old and new belts are the same, we counted. we matched up the belt lines with the pully lines and counted the teeth between the lines, all as per the workshop manual. but when we turn the pullys together with the belt on the marks on, the pullys line up but the lines on the belt are out.
  16. I have fitted a new timing belt, lined up all the pullies, matched the number of teeth on belt between the lines as per workshop manual, but when we rotate the belt by hand the marks on pullies match but lines on the belt dont,It also takes two turns on the small crankshaft in the middle to match all the pullies up, should this happen??? your help and advice would be great.
  17. would this be ok to fit without a fuel pressure regulator upgrade, it has a max adjustable range 0 bar to 1.3bar (0- 18.9PSI) Max. pressure limited to 1.3 bar to prevent engine damage. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 i would love to mod my car to the highest spec but the problem is i need to use it for buisness and as it is i clock up approx 100miles a day so you can imagine my fuel bill at present.
  18. some dodgy moments though, who ever has worked on it b4 did not give a toss, some bolts on the rocker cover were finger tight and the others were almost imposible to undo, certainly not to the recomended toruqe, and the wee rounded bolts are not the best to try and put pressure on as they just strip thats for sure, but we got there in the end. Oh and a cylinder head gasket was only 38quid ex VAT from halleys subaru in bearsden which was suprising.
  19. Yippee, stripped down the cylinder head the valves in No2, where not sitting right, caked in carbon and crap, hence lossing the compression, so sorted that out and just waiting for the new gaskets and belts arriving and i should be up and running by the weekend, Fingers Crossed. So mite get to meet some of u fellas soon, i'll be in madmonks dust somewhere.
  20. i know i could hit him futher if i got him with my scooby.
  21. im pish only 50mtrs, but if u make him skip he bursts into his tune. so annoying
  22. cheers.
  23. do you do gaskets though, i will be needing them once i split the cylinder block 2moro, to see whats up with cylinder 2.
