If you're converting to front mount I would seriously suggest that you get it remapped. That will usually (but not always) involve a rolling road at some point, to get a power figure. M

That venue is not certain: I believe the plan is to alternate between The Farmer, and the Dun Cow in Cowpit (the previous venue). M

What sort of extras? Run away from body kits and be very wary of VTA dump valves. Start with the standard stuff: Service history - as with all Japaneses cars, vital. If it hasn't got one, or it looks odd, run away. Repairs to scoobs are expensive - a new turbo is well over a grand to supply and fit for instance. Any accident damage? Odd panel gaps etc? Is it an import? If so, was it ever undersealed - many imports don't have underseal. Watch the current owner when he starts it (and make sure the engine is stone cold before he does - a warm engine means possible cold-start problems): does he wait until the engine is warm before booting it - or tell you that he does that? Does he let it cool before turning it off. Both suggest some care. Blue smoke on pushing down the accelerator is (I believe) sh*gged turbo bearings - expensive. Grey smoke is the usual: worn piston rings. If possible, get a specialist to check it over. The RAC etc will pick up obvious stuff, but I'm not sure how good they are with turbos. M

OK, Kevin and I discussed a meeting in May with the Fenland Flat Fours - the Peterborough Scoob lot. The date is: Friday 25th May 2007, from 7pm (note the earlier than usual time) Venue, by popular choice, is option b: The Three Horseshoes in Abbots Ripton (just outside Huntingdon). For Google map, the pub postcode is PE28 2PD From Cambridge: Westbound on the A14 (warning: the SPECS cameras may be operational by that date) as far as the Spittals exit, where the A14 turns off. Take the sliproad and turn right at the Spittals roundabout, towards the A141 and the Shell garage roundabout. The rest is after the Peterborough instructions. From P'boro: Southbound A1. Turn off at the Alconbury sliproad where the A14 branches off. Exit the A14 at the second exit (Spittals), which is signposted for Huntingdon, plus the A14 and A141. Turn left at the top, towards the A141 and the Shell garage roundabout. Both: At the Shell garage roundabout, go straight on, up the hill. Straight on at the first roundabout after that, and then left at the next one, at the top, where you see Tesco ahead and to the right. Follow this nice road for about a mile and half until you come into Abbots Ripton. The pub is on the right soon after you pass the narrow bit for traffic calming as you enter the village. M

For those who know where they are going, we will be parking on the public car park on the Castle Park business park, by Shire Hall. Turn off at the Isaac Newton, then first left and follow the road around. On the map Kevin has linked above, the turn is by the "C" of Castle Street, just left of the green arrow. Bar Hill Tesco car park? It's a pretty straightforward run in from there and would take about ten minutes if we obeyed the law. M

For those who don't know the area, type CB3 0RD into Google Map (that's a zero, not an oh). The turn off Castle Street is on the corner where the "Isaac Newton" pub is. First left leads to the big public car park (turn on the satellite view for more detail). There's another car park on Shire Hall nearby, but it tends to be full. The problem with curry restaurants is that the good ones have no parking, and the ones with parking are no good. M

The theoretical date for the March meeting is Tuesday 27th March. Who fancies a curry for that night? Venue would be the same as the Christmas one - the Cambridge Curry House at the top of Castle Hill. Plenty of parking in the public car park off Castle Hill business park. M
