Whats YOUR favourite driving road?????
john_robertson replied to the squiggle's topic in Scottish Scoobies
OOoohhh, thats a good one [] usually do it from Aberfoyle to Calendar on the bike, uphill first gear hairpins just as you exit aberfoyle are ace, you think the bike is going to fall over at the apex then nail it and get the back wheel spinning on the way out [Y] John. -

Strathclyde Police are launching a crackdown

Unfortunately it is true and valid GB. They use a system called "Tintman" IIRC basically it measures the light transfered throught the glass, to get an accurate reading the window must be cleaned prior to testing. The required transfer of light is 70% I believe for the the front windows, considering your car has in the region of 28% factory tint it only gives you 2% lee-way. I aint backing the enforcing of this in any way but some cars are taking the "P" at the levels they have on the front windows. Also if you fancy an argument, just ask the police if the Merc is still in use in Glasgow that has the "Blue" tints all round [] John. -

What a great reason to stop some one [8-)] John. -
Hi Chris, What you've listed looks like a good selection of parts for that type of power, now comes the really nasty bit [6] how do you want the car to drive? do you want a mad high boost car that has laggy response or would you like a car thats got a good spread of power through out the rev band?? if the second is more your choice and you don't plan any further mods for a while it might be worth downsizing the 20G to something that comes on boost sooner, that way you will have a more driveable car. Naturally some of this can get tuned through the map also. John. ps I think Andy F does his own FMIC also now

Hey Chris, Heard you were back in the fold [] I was talking to Gav and he mentioned you had bought the Prodrive car. IMO you might be asking too much out of it for a daily driver, that's of you plan on sticking with the 2lt bottom end that is, IMO go for 350'ish. Scoobaro - what Lothian meets haven't heard of any for a while? John.

PPP will give 300Bhp. The standard turbo (VF35 IIRC) is good for 330Bhp tops, obvisiouly this can only be achieved if the fueling etc has been uprated and mapped to suit. John.

I always thought Geordie's were just Scotsmen with their brains based oot [] If thats the way the moderation is heading this place could end up like S'net a few years ago prior to the exodus. John -
Having done track days on both of them, I can honestly say KH is MUCH harder on both the car and the driver, also seeing as you are timing the laps there is no where really to make up time if you mess up a corner as it is such a short lap compared to Silverstone, make sure your brakes are in A1 condition as they really take a pounding at KH. Really wanted to go and see this event but stuck offshore [] JOhn.

Hate to tell you but I believe you are not allowed any tint on the front (in front of B pillar) legally as most car glass is pre-tinted to around a level of 28% IIRC the maximum for the front is 30%. The rears have no limitations on them, seeing as you've went for a sensible level of tint you should get away with it. But be aware that the police now have a device called the " Tintman " which basically measures the amount of light transfer through your windows, failure to meet the required amount can result in a fine etc, unfortunately I know this from experience as my wife got nabbed and given a £30 on the spot fine [:@] John.

I believe he was based down London way, was very friendly with Mark Shead of MA Developments at one point. Dunno about now as Mark seems to concentrate on Autronic management systems now. John.

Well well look at all the old timers coming out of the wood work [] Most of July sounds good to me as I'm on 3 weeks off [] just need to let me know in advance so I can arrange baby sitting if need be. Stiks, you really should buy a new telly or something, jnr no 3 [] Anybody know of somebody looking for an STi? still got it but want shot of it [au] I'll suggest some rules for the nite, 1. No accessing of computers when the pub turfs out, you know who you are [] 2. No "going for it" the second nite home from offshore then spending the whole nite talking to the Hugey and Ralf on the big white telephone [+o(] Any more suggestions. John.
