  1. I would suggest you get a good 4 wheel alignment done before considering ARBs etc. You may find that good settings will be more than adequate for fast road use and your style of driving? jon
  2. Sorry Dean, i dont agree and think you are wrong.....just my opinion of course!! jon
  3. If its a 95 ECU, then it should have 4 separate connectors plugged into it. ECU is located under passenger footwell behind the metal plate in case you didnt know! Check the ECU and post up the number stamped on the front....or use the very good search facility. If it is a standard unit, ESL do an add on board, but you are probably better off changing it for an Apexi or Simtek etc etc. Jolly Green Monster website should help you with some information. Good luck jon
  4. and how to polish your wheels....quickly..love the disclaimer in the first post http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3680224 jon
  5. Deano is a top fella....far too much patience for my liking though Ian, thanks for the dimensions....stuff is ordered for me and deano. Sorry to you both for the crappy tea...i hope the neighbours didnt see you both with the white powder and the tea spoon??? jon
  6. This would become a very difficult situation imho... Having done something very similar, you will have to have at least 150% trust in each party for it to even have a remote chance of working..... just my opinion... jon
  7. The original question wasnt for my benefit dean!!
  8. Will you take payment in installments?
  9. Depends on what year your car is... 93-96 4 plug ecu 97-98 3 plug ecu 99 on ecutek and thase change again (but not sure when) Which ECU are you after? Probably best to contact JGM on here... jon
  10. You must be mad Dean.... Sit tight for a while....always something around the corner. If you do sell, i know you will regret it a couple of months down the road...and then end up buying something else for a load more money!! jon
  11. Many thanks Ian....think i may take my chance on the day....dont want to get wet jon
  12. Ian, can track time be sorted on the day? Not sure if i will be able to make it or not yet? jon
  13. Gonna try and get there....work permitting. Been offered a couple of passenger rides...So what time do you have to be there to register etc? jon
  14. In the car that apparently cant be driven in snow and icey conditions? The BM.... jon
  15. spotted you on the roundabout going into Kent performance....flashed my lights at you......but you was in a world of your own...lol jon
  16. jack it up so that all four wheels are off the ground (make sure its safe!!) then if its 4.1diffs, for every one full turn of the wheels, you will get 4.1 turns of the propshaft. Or 3.9 turns of the prop for 3.9 diff? simple! jon
  17. check out the transmission chart....Google is your friend!!! http://spda-online.ca/modules/tinycontent/rewrite/tc_28.html jon
  18. you need to check the transmission code stamped on the nearside inner wing tag...it will start ty752 or ty754. You then need to check that number against the code on the top of the bell housing of the gearbox (adjacent to the clutch arm i think?) to make sure they both match.( in case the box has been changed before) These codes will give you your gear ratios and diff size. The diff size for the new box MUST match your existing rear diff set up. I hope this helps jon
  19. Havn't had a problem getting anywhere in mine....dont know what all the fuss is about? Although 430lbft of torque in the snow with the traction control off (only briefly...lol) can be rather lively... jon
  20. mmmmmmmmmmmm.... As already said, speak to JGM. Power Enginnering used to do a daughter board addition for the 98 ecu, but i dont think its available anymore. It was only a "crude" remap anyway. I believe Andy at ESL is also working on a solution for the 98 car. Best bet is to go for a Simtek, or Apexi,Gems, Motec, or solaris, depending on your Mods. Simtek would get my vote for good value for money with the addition of some nice "add ons" if you wanted them! Good Luck jon
  21. sounds like the system is being pressurised....a common problem with head gasket failure!! check the water system for Hydro-carbons...( friendly RAC/AA man with a "sniffer" should be able to help) Did the garage have the heads skimmed? jon
  22. Would have thought he would be well used to that by now?? How is the little fella...probably not so little i should think? jon

  24. I hope you remember to remove that trolley jack before you go for a drive!! Look nice Ian...what pads are you using?? jon
  25. Dean, The jap spec box will be better suited to your needs.... 5th gear onwards are better ratios...and its got dccd... No brainer for me? jon
