Up here in Scotland Optimax and Ultimate is the exact same Fuel also it is the exact same additive now to make everything legal and for SHell to be able to sell it as a different product Less additive is added to Shell. Now you can all come back with you own opinions on this one but trust me this is fact.

Where about are you. I have two garages that's secure locked everything. They are empty for most of the time. we are from Larbert.

same thing happened to me. not a thing from my road angel. 41 in a 30 @ road works £60 3 points. Anyway had to find out why my road angel didn't pick up anything here is what I was told. They are zapping you with a laser backed up by video evidence . they keep the beam short and low meaning they wait until you are almost on top of them the laser beam is going below that of the road angel our "Friend" then demostrated. Couldn't believe it Now in my scooby we have the micro road pilot with a gizmo front and rear

<< looking good, think you have made my mind up that its the SECS monitor i'm going for... is the cd player a standard fit once the secs unit is in place?? Scott >> The CD was fitted first and is held in place on a metal frame thing with some screws all we needed to do was slide the plastic pocket which took up the space below the cd and slide then click the SECS in place. not very technically put I'm sorry but if we can do it anyone can. -

Beauly shell station will close its doors for the final time at the end of this month. Making way for flats I'm afraid. Q8 pick up all their fuel from us BP @ Inverness. Shell station @ Dingwall dose not shell Optimax.
-
No Optimax in Ullapool however there is in Inverness @ the shell station near the Raigmore hospital. You can also get Ultimate

<< << h.mmmmmmmmmmm ok if that is the case then explain this Kerosense with is domestic heating oil and Jet A-1 which is aviation fuel are the exact same product so how come they leave the tower at two different points ??????? just had a thought how come Gas Oil (tractor diesel / Heatin g oil ) and Derv or ULSD are exact same product leave a different points the only difference in all these product is the dye that gets added. Our depots re brand Kero to Jet i.e. they have kero in the storage tank and they put kero into the aviation tank and add dye or vice versa. >> As far as i am aware, remember i am a delivery driver not a Petro-chemist, the variations are down to a diferent start product. Heating oil being produced from Heavy Crude oil and Av-Gas being produced from Light Crude oil. Are Kerosene and Aviation fuel not one and the same. I remember the old piston prop planes used Kerosene. All the above info is based on the Discovery channel and Mrs Graham from 4th year Chemistry ans as i say i am not a petro-chemist Grant >> me i know nothing. only know the scooby is a great motor and think i.ll keep using optimax

<< << well................ i use either optimax or bp ulitimate, and with the gems mapped by stevesimpson it seems to make no diffirence, no flashes on the k/link at all, and yes i have had the k/link checked and its working fine! cheers robin. >> Robin with you running GEMS, Esp Gems mapped by Steve, then you could run it on cow juice and you wont see Det. As for the rest of use running JDM cars with std ecu's, try filling your tank with Ultimate Esso SUL or Morrisons cr*p and just watch the Knocklink light up for Christmas when you give the car some stick. When i put Ultimate in the my car, for testing purposes, it would not idle smoothly and the det in the 5-6k rpm range was horrendous. So if it is the exact same, due to coming from the same galleries and tankers then my car is Psycho-scematic and should be booked into the nearsest shrink for some councilling. Technical bit on fuel All Petroleum fuel's, Derv, Gasoil, Unleaded. Parafiin, Kerosene, Optimax, Ultimate and Racing fuel, start off as the same thing called Crude Oil. When Crude oil is heated and put under extreme pressure, in a massive tower, the properties of the Crude Oil change to a more refined product. The higher up the tower the processed Crude Oil leaves the tower, the higher the quality of fuel. E.G Gasoil and Diesel are removed at the bottom of the tower and Racing fuel and Aviation Fuel are removed from the top of the tower. This process is called Refractional Distilisation and is used to create all Hydro carbon based fuel. In the section of the tower with gives out Petroleum, the Normal unleaded [95 Ron] will leave the tower at a point just below Super Unleaded [97 Ron], which in turn will leave the tower just below Optimax [98.6 Ron} which in turn will leave the tower just below std Jap fuel [100 Ron], which in turn will leave the tower just below Jap Super Unleaded [102 Ron]......etc. Bottom of the tower would be Heating Oil and it woulfd increase in quality all the way up the tower, improving in quality at each point it leaves the tower until you get to Av-Gas at the very top with a Ron of 118. >> h.mmmmmmmmmmm ok if that is the case then explain this Kerosense with is domestic heating oil and Jet A-1 which is aviation fuel are the exact same product so how come they leave the tower at two different points ??????? just had a thought how come Gas Oil (tractor diesel / Heatin g oil ) and Derv or ULSD are exact same product leave a different points the only difference in all these product is the dye that gets added. << ALL the fuel in scotland comes via grangemouth refinery.....BP its all the same stuff ask any tanker driver >> most of what you say is spot on but you do have the likes of Mabanaft and Conoco who import fuel and some of the third parties like Tesco etc will pick up product from Leith etc. However how can they state the shell is 98 ron BP 97 ron if the fuel is refined at "Inovenne" Gramgemouth (formerly BP) is'nt it the refining process that dictates the ron is'nt the addivtive just cleaning the valves and all that stuff.
-
<< That's the difference - BP Ultimate is unleaded with an additive - Shell Optimax is a differently developed fuel. Shell every time I think most users have found, until another proper new fuel is developed to compete. Brian >> h'mmmmmmmmmmmm well I'm not technical minded me but I work @ the BP Terminal Inverness and BP Shell Esso Tesco Texaco Safeway(morrisons) not for much longer. National All pick up and its all unleaded that they load and for Ultimate and Optimax it is really just what we once new as SUPRE GRENN there is a additive that is added at the gantry so how can shell claim it is refined differently.
