  1. Thanks Richard for your help & advice in the past. Hopefully you'll get something a little slower in future - so I have a chance in keeping up with you? Welcome to CupraDave & thanks for taking the RO job!
  2. OOoohhhh! All lubbly & new!
  3. Thanks Richard, I'll try them.
  4. Just match what colours? I don't have the tools to fit the ends on & also don't know what I'm doing! Any suggestions for an electrical place that will do the ends for me please?
  5. Hi I had my phone line installed on Friday, but MT can't connect my barn office for a week or so. I bought a 25m telephone extension lead from B&Q for the house to the office, but although voice works fine, I can't get an ADSL sync. The lead is some ultra thin stuff - it was all they had in that length. Does anyone know where I can get a 25m telephone extension lead in regular good quality cable please? It needs to run outdoors, but only has to last for a week or two.
  6. Thanks! [H]
  7. Where is the South Coast garage please?
  8. Hi again Come-over coming over on Thursday! What order do I sort out the reg plates & MOT thingy please? Can I do the registration & plates first - then do the MOT thing later? The car is just over 3 years old, I was thinking that maybe I can't get the registration without the MOT docs?
  9. Thanks Richard
  10. Thanks I checked the site & PDF files, but couldn't find much about fees, other than when held on retention.
  11. Thanks guys Is there a transfer fee if I buy privately?
  12. Hi Are there any companies that sell cherished Manx plates, or maybe a classifieds section in a newspaper? Several hours of Googling hasn't found anything apart from the gov.im site.
  13. Yup, fully comp & protected. Every year, I spend a few days calling everyone & don't stop until I get fed up with it! Feel free to email me & we can compare, age, security, convictions etc.
  14. Privilege were £457.80 in the UK garaged, £389.00 in the IoM parked off-road. A-Plan never came back to me about IoM prices, Kestrel never came back at all!
  15. Thanks very much for your help everyone, after around 25 calls, I've decided to stick with Privilege, "A Plan" were the next closest in price.
  16. Thanks Tony Unfortunately Tower is way overpriced!
  17. Trying them too! []
  18. Thanks, I'll try them. []
  19. My insurance is due to renew around the time of my move at the end of the month. Does anyone have any recommendations for Manx friendly UK insurers or UK friendly Manx insurers? Current insurance is direct with Privilege.
  20. Sugar Babes! :-/ Start putting up pics of them around the house... she'll soon change her mind. []
  21. Hi, thanks I'm doing the UK MOT next Friday & I'll also go through the Manx test too. Registering the car to a temp address was going to leave me a bit shaky with insurance. Also, this house sale & purchase stuff can always fall though.. Looking for good plumbing & heating, electricians, drainage & roofing companies. Any recommendations please?
  22. Hey this is looking good! I've just spoken to my Insurance co & they can do a cover note for 15 days. I just have to make sure that with temp addresses & insurance stuff that I'm not being left without insurance. Where's the special numbers please?
  23. Thanks very much for the info everyone & thanks Richard for the offer of a temp address. I like the idea of registering with Manx plates, I've been wanting Manx plates for over a year now! A little bit more info about the situation. The car is 3 years old on 11 June, a return flight on the 10th or 11th June would cost £264 + travel/parking at the airport, but really 11 June is 1 day late. A flight on 8th June would be £316 + travel/parking etc - it may be a bit busy. A set of 4 tyres is £600 (Mich Pilot Sports). In a visit to the tyre place last week, I was told that there's around 5mm tread all round, apart from the front edges (I have a Powerstation alignment). I've always in the past bought a new set of tyres, what's the situation with tread difference between axles? I remember something about that it should be too much or the diff gets messed up. If I bought 2 tyres, should they go on the front or back?
  24. Thanks guys, I knew about the 1 time MOT thingy. My car will be 3 years old next month. So I'll need an MOT in the UK mid June & then a Manx DOT test when I move in July? So to confirm, are tyres checked in the DOT test & if so, what is their position on worn edges?
  25. When I eventually get over, I will need an MOT. Are UK MOTs acceptable? Are tyres included in the Manx MOT & if so, what are the rules? I have over 5mm of tread all round, but the fronts are worn on the edges. There is 5mm over 75% of the tyres, but the edges are my concern. Any advice please?
