  1. Hi all,

Just wanted to hi to everyone new to the SIDC. Drive a 2006 wrx slightly modded but about to be modded a bit more.

    Doug

welcome to SIDC , hopefully you will get as much out of being a member as i have.

  2. In post no 6 I said can't afford to change it and won't get what I would want for it so it's time to make it what it could/should be. It's now a project, fast road project at the moment.

i realise its an old thread but did you ever do it and was it worth it if you did!

  3. Ok so six months is up again and as normal I place a mail order from the nearest Subaru dealer for an oil filter and sump plug washer. Great service as it arives promptly the next day. However I open the package to find that the usual black made in japan item I have always used has been replaced by an unboxed blue filter which is made for Subaru USA in Canada.... It looks different inside then the old one, feels lighter and has rust inside on the contact face! Not to mention it costs twice as much as the last time I brought one. On checking the invoice it does state that this version has replaced the old one. I certainly wont be fitting a rusty filter to my car so its going straight back and hopefully I can source a proper Jap one. The thing is its not even packaged other then the clear film its wrapped in so surely they would have seen the rust and just sent it anyway.

Am I wrong to be so annoyed? I know its only a little thing but now it means posting it back again...

i think you are quite right , you chose to buy subaru parts for the quality , otherwise you would av gone to halfords or the like , if they want to start 'economising' they need to see that it wont work and the customers will refuse to accept it , maybe then they will see the error of their ways and revert back to quality rather than quality after all it aint a fiesta 1.1 you are buyin bits for is it!

  4. is there a list anywhere which tells you when a particular car was made and how many of them were made before yours , i ask because i would be interested to know more about my particular car , i know it is quite an early one but i dont know how early in the production run , not that it makes any difference as to its value it would just be interesting to find out all i can.

i do have a book which gives production totals for domestic /export etc but it would only help if i could find out what number subaru gave the first impreza or what number the first type r was.

i am sure i am on a hiding to nothing but it would be interesting to know

hopefully someone out there may be able to help

i have now found out that my car was the 291st type r to be built , the 84th sonic blue version (yet to be confirmed via another source) excluding any specials which may not have the usual chassis numbering , so i now would like to find out production dates , so if there is anyone out there who may know of any production lists then i would be interested to find out more.

    heres hoping

  6. I feel your pain, that's a lot of work to do on your tod only to find out its not working for you. Hope it all works out for you in the end, as it's never plain sailing.

Keep me posted on how you are getting on

    Jac

i was thinking about doing something similar myself , am currently working in the states so am gonna do a bit of research into buying 2.5 block etc but dont know how many more bits i am gonna need !

  7. na, they do rattle about a bit, I need mind turned up to max or the bike just shakes its head under hard accelleration

    Graeme

a rose joint shouldnt rattle but it should allow movement , they are liable to wearing out as is anything but it shouldnt feel like the joint is loose

  8. Hello and welcome.

Lovely car mate. Don't see many around.

You German, Brit working abroad? HM Forces?

hello and welcome , if i had the money i would have one of those it is very nice , but still wouldnt sell the type r though am greedy that way!

  9. Hello and welcome mate, love the Rrrrrrrr :P:DB)

thanks to all for the nice comments, am still enjoying the car , in fact , i flipping love it , av just fitted a knock sensor to the dash (just the leds) and am now looking to get the engine checked over as i have heard a knocking which is slightly concerning me , but finding a garage who knows what they are talking about seems to be the hardest!

  10. i suspect the manufacturers know EXACTLY what they are doing and are getting rid of people like your local motor factors by making the parts easy to get hold off , like they need to , but the fitting by normal paople to difficult so as to fill the workshops.

  11. Anyone on here either use this site or have experience of this site?

Apparantly its pretty good for networking in the employment market

yes i am on there i have had a couple of emails from people enquiring about wether i was looking still , which i aint but you never know so i leave it on , although it did take a while before i got my first email

    maybe something will come along?

  12. Mmm...proper love Type R's :D

    Welcome aboard

    :P K

i waited a lot of years till i could get one but always knew which model/colour etc i wanted . i ended up selling anything that wasnt strapped down to get it but it is definatly worth it , i might see if i can get to a track day this year so i can really see how it drives without worrying about oncoming traffic

    ;)

  13. Welcome to SIDC

i have introduced myself on here before on the normal forum when i first got the car , but i suppose it could have been advertised on here , i believe it used to live down south , portsmouth way and live down there since import .

i will have to try and search and see if it comes up

Edmundo , i am gonna try and see if i can come down in the car next time i visit swindon as i come down every now and again to visit relatives who live there , i used to live in westlea myself for 6 years so like visiting

  15. bring any poish birds back.....???

surely that cant be right , can it , i didnt think it would go back on the road if it was total loss , i though it was only uneconomical repairs that could , unless they really did think it was just a type r because that was what it was insured as?

  16. Mk1 Golf Convertible (Clipper kit) in black. Cost me £2400, I had it before I passed my test, then within two months, some twot t-boned me and wroote it off. Insurance company paid out £3700 though.

toyota corolla xb 3 door hatch , 1.6 as dnf 972 y , it was christened did not finish yet , just before i rolled it on a back road , cost me a broken motorbike which i had crashed 3 months before , straight swap , i thought it was a good deal .

the only injury i suffered was the radio aerial in my eye when i tried to open the bonnet from the side whilst the front was buried in a hedge and wouldnt start.

found out later the battery terminal had snapped off hence the not starting . had to phone the feds to come and move it as it closed the road between 2 sharp bends and someone might have hit it

good car though had a kettle and a fridge in it and a cb

  17. That's Crap I know, I used to get regular reminders from Town and county, I don't think that I've had a reminder from them now for the last couple of years... You can stick as many stickers as you like I guarantee that after 3 months at the maximum, you will never look at that sticker again untill you are at the MOT station. Its a massive waste of money, and a massive waste of time...

and to make things worse, a couple of years ago, I never got the reminder through for the road tax, so I never renewed it (I didn't know) and they fined me £80 or whatever it was, I complained, they told me that they were not obligated to tell me, and that its my fault. I had to pay. C*nts. Same Deal too, the dates on your windscreen, but how often do you check it, and how often is the first that you know about your road tax is when the letter drops through your door.

    Its basic human behavior.

i suppose at the end of the day (as much as i dont like to say it ) the onus is always on the operator of the vehicle to ensure it is in a roadworthy condition before operating it .

  18. Ha Ha i do the same now. although im not in the v power club yet even though i have only used my card for V power and the odd work van fuel up.

Got my BP ultimate card the other day, think its double points if i fill up so much fuel over a set time, cant remember now. Had a nector car for 4 years and saved up 2 thousand points, since owning the impreza (Nov 09) i have now got 5 thousand points

I like free stuff, cant wait for my free shell fuel ;)

is it better to collect the airmiles or money off fuel with shell , i thought airmiles would be better for hotels and flights etc so better value for money

    wot do you think
