  1. The downpipe is a pain to swap over just to swap back again after mot. I have heard of cars passing with just a standard catted centre section fitted if they're lucky. Best bet would be if anybody in your area has a double catted centre section made up you could borrow, doddle to swap over and back again after mot.

  2. Great day out, excellent turnout from the sidc. Nice to see lots of new faces.

Fastest on the day (N/A up to 2l) was me, Woop woop, when do I get my trophy? B)

I was faster than a few scoobies  Im away to the Salon to do some hair

Are you the guy with the exige?

If you are, thanks for letting my son have a seat in it  He was well impressed with it.

  3. Yea your time was impressive, you were one of the few boys that seemed to give his car some proper stick off the line too... couldn't believe how many 4WD cars were pu$$ying about and crawling off the line at what sounded like 2,000rpm?! Go hard or go home, thats the best way!!

The wee mans grin was MASSIVE mate, we commented on that as you were rolling up to the line, he looked like he was seriously enjoying himself!! ;)

    Cheers,

    Grant

Cheers mate, aye he's talking about giving up his football so we can go all the time

Surely the point of going there is to get the best time possible and you're only gonna get that giving it some :P Plus that was the bairns favourite bit, the launch.

  4. Congrats to Scoobykev, has the bug bitten? Do you think you'll wait as long until your next trip up the 1/4 mile?

    Cheers,

    Grant

Haha mate, that was a laugh. My son had a great time too.

Might be back soon enough

My quickest time of the day was a 13.298, which i think was decent enough for my mods (some stickers, some rust and a big exhaust)

Agreed that the sight of Colin's and Chris's cars taking off was pretty impressive ;)

  5. .

If it is indeed a ABS hub then yes stickign a ABS tonewheel on shoudl be ok as long as the sensor is working.

HOpefully it's not the case for the fronts, but on the rears the wheel bearing needs to be removed in order to install the tone wheel.. Replaced one of mine a few months ago but didn't pay enough attention to the sensor distance so had to strip the brakes off again and re-mount the sensor.. *sigh*

Sorry Alan, might not have been too clear in my post. The new '99 hub has no place for a tone wheel, it must use a different way of sensing.

My problems started with a knackered wheel bearing. I wrecked the end of the driveshaft seperating it all and the tone wheel fell to bits.

Big'D', that sounds about right

  6. I have a my'98 UK turbo and have been trying to source front hub parts, more specifically a tone wheel and a driveshaft.

I've been told there are only 2 types. With abs and without. The hub i have, has a toothed wheel that sits behind the disc and is fixed to the hub with allen bolts (the tone wheel). I assume the non abs version won't have this or any wiring to it?

I've just taken delivery of a front hub off a uk99 car. i was told it had the abs sensor. It has wiring but it doesnt have a tone wheel. I'm sure it'll fit on the car but will the abs system work?

I don't want to put it all on the find out it it'll not work properly.

    Any ideas folks?

    thanks

    Kev

  7. And did they feel different?

Yup. Biggest difference being where the power comes in and lasts due to the different turbos. The suspension is a bit stiffer and short shift gearing.

The thing is i've now got that P1 turbo fitted to mine along with some sti6 typeR v limited suspension, so in summary UK all the way B)

Hindsight being the great thing that it is, i'd probably have bought an import, would've saved me puting a load of jap bits on mine, but when i bought it, it cost me £12.5k and i wanted a dealer warranty at that time thought all imports were dodgy (why would anybody buy an import when you can get exactly the same car in the uk, hindsight again :) )

In fairness though, surely with regards to classics, you could only compare a uk turbo with a jdm wrx and not an sti. Or a P1 to a typeR.

  8. I wont embarrass myself by doing a speed test.. I live more than 5 miles from my exchange an can only get 2Mbit B) Although the BT checked said I'd be lucky to get any ADSL Broadband at all :)

I'm kinda the same as yourself, about 6 miles from the exchange, i'm the last one on the line. Bt wouldn't provide broadband but i forced the issue and they eventually set it up for me albeit at the slowest possible speed available.

I did have it very briefly a couple of years earlier with aol but it went off and trying to deal with Bt and aol at the same time was horrendous.

Bt seem pretty expensive for what i'm getting but i'm not sure about leaving them as the hassle of dealing with two companies was a nightmare.
