Guys - it's a sad day, but the time has come due to a growing family that I have to part with my toy that has taken a lot of time and even more money to develop.
Details of the car as follows:
Sonic Blue Impreza WRX STi Type R V5 Limited
Imported by Warrenders to UK spec in late 1999.
Usual Type R spec - DCCD etc
Mileage is now approximately 24,000 but the engine has covered approximately 2,000 since build.
Power estimated at 420bhp with 450lbft torque which gives 0-60mph in 3.5 secs and 0-100mph in 8 secs
2.33 litre engine built by Steve Guirey (SMG) - he will be appearing on the quarter mile with 720bhp in a V6 RA very soon!
Built from 2 litre closed deck block - relinered and bored to 97mm
2.5 litre cross drilled crank giving 79mm stroke
Roger Clarke uprated oil pump with oil catch can/breather system
JE Pistons
Arrow conrods
Fully ported heads with STi V4 valves and top hat shims
Cometec head gaskets
ARP head studs
276 degree duration cams wit 433 thou (11mm) lift
Vernier cam pulleys
Aluminium billet 4.6kg flywheel
AP Racing cerametallic paddle clutch (replaced Lateral Performance 450lbft rated organic clutch as this was slipping!)
Gruppe-S ported stainless steel tubular manifold
Helix flexible stainless steel turbo up-pipe
Hayward & Scott full 3 inch (turbo back) de-catted straight through exhaust system
Garrett TD05/06 20G turbo running 22psi (1.5bar) max boost
3 Port boost solenoid
HKS front mounted intercooler with re-routed intercooler water spray
Samco turbo inlet hose with custom air intake
Forge Motorsport VTA dump valve
Link fully mappable ECU (mapped for 97 RON super unleaded)
Nismo 720cc injectors
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
FSE fuel pressure regulator
SPA oil pressure & fuel pressure guage
SPA boost pressure & boost temperature guage
MGL Avionics individual cylinder exhaust gas temperature guage
Air fuel ratio (AFR) guage
EBC front discs and redstuff pads
Stainless braided hoses all round
Air con removed to allow better flow through FMIC and radiator and also to save weight (I still have everything should someone wish to re-install it)
Cost of the modifications and engine build has been just over £14k and I wanted something that had very quick spool up and very little lag which is ideally suited to the twisty Manx roads. The engine spec is capable of supporting over 500bhp which is easily achievable with just a larger turbo and re-map (but I think it is quick enough for our roads!). Acceleration is relentless and higher gears don't seem to slow the revs climbing!
I'm looking for offers around £16,500 which, given that a good Type R V5 will fetch around £12k - £13k I believe is a very fair price for a very quick car.
Let me know what you think.
Kind regards
Andrew
