  1. These headers don't appear to have any expansion joints, so you could probably expect them to crack one of the welds as they get really hot. I use Gruppe-S headers on mine which have a slip joint to allow expansion and they are not that much more expensive. I also have a Helix flexi up-pipe (which will be for sale soon due to fitting a Garrett GT rotated turbo). I would recommend the Gruppe-S headers as they have never caused me any problems. When you remove the standard cast iron headers and sections, you will be amazed at how poorly they mate together from the exhaust ports right the way through, creating turbulance and back pressure through to your turbo. I also ported the Gruppe-S headers at the flanges to match the ported heads on my engine. Definitely will improve airflow and therefore spool up. You will need to heat wrap any headers you put on as well to keep the exhaust gas temperature high to increase flow and also to stop things melting in your engine bay! Kind regards Andrew
  2. Dave............................http://bbs.scoobynet.com/high-performance-2-t544754.html I shouldn't do this to you! Did you speak to Steve Guirey regarding the engine build? Kind regards Andrew
  3. Hope the move went smoothly. Have you decided who will do your machining and build? Kind regards Andrew
  4. Dave I shouldn't put temptation in front of you, but: http://bbs.scoobynet.com/2-litre-cdb-t534252.html Did you manage to burn up a disk of the Jurby quarter mile event for me? Kind regards Andrew
  5. Best time was 12.33 which I did exactly 3 times out of 23 runs, with best terminal 121mph. OMA managed a best of 11.47. Mikee Singh had the same problem as me - Type R gearbox ratios and he could only manage around 12.3 until putting in longer UK ratios, which instantly saw him to 11.3. Garret GT30 and PPG straight cut dog box with longer ratios should see the car into the 10's! I would like to thank Dave for the support and lugging all my bits and pieces around all weekend, and for the great pics and videos. Kind regards Andrew
  6. Dave - your a star man. Sorry to hear about your mechanical problems by the way. I can give you some advice if you like having "been there done that got the T shirt". I believe the racing starts at noon, so it gives some time to load up in the morning. It's probably best if you give me a ring on 497135. Kind regards Andrew
  7. Is anyone going to Jurby on Friday? My mate has decided to go for a holiday in Sweden and I could do with someone to crew for me (just a case of carrying and storing some tools and fuel etc). Any help would be greatly appreciated. I will be travelling from Glen Vine. Kind regards Andrew
  8. I believe the dates are 21st, 22nd and 23rd July - events for cars and bikes, according to www.manxpower.com. Has anybody seen that site! I didn't realise it existed - seems like a pick up room for the youngsters!! Still nothing about cars on www.straightliners.co.uk though. Anyone else up for a Saxo & Nova bashing??!!
  9. Yep that's me - number 63! I need to take the number boards off from the Bray Hill event, but am just a little worried about peeling the paint.
  10. I came up Injebrek to Brandywell and couldn't believe my luck as there was nothing - absolutely nothing on the course because of a crash. Took windy corner at 100mph then wound it up to 145mph through to just before Kates and had a scare when I saw the cones taking my line! The Homestayer in with me said no way would he be able to stay with me on his MV Augusta F4! Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet.
  11. No worries Jim. If you have the box or engine out, you're welcome to take the clutches to try. Not sure if flywheels are interchangeable - I think they are as my crank is now a 2.5litre (79mm) stroke and I don't think there was anything special on my flywheel order. If there is a difference I know a man who can easily machine it to make it fit. Kind regards Andrew
  12. Jim My aluminium billet 4.6kg flywheel cost around £270 from memory - really nice piece of kit. Let me know if you are interested and I'll see if my contact can get another for you. As I said, I'm not looking for silly money, so make me an offer if/when you can. Would prefer someone to get some good use, as I'm not going to be able to use the parts again. Kind regards Andrew
  13. Jim These are both 230mm Kind regards Andrew
  14. Jim I'll measure them and get back to you. Kind regards Andrew
  15. Had a ruthless tidy out in the garage over the weekend. Got a few bits if anyone is interested: Clutch - STi Type R V5 cover and plate (done less than 20,000 miles) Lateral Performance organic clutch plate rated to 450lb/ft (done approx 3,000 miles as it slipped in mine, so had to replace with AP cerametallic paddle) Standard airbox complete with MAF sensor STi Type R V5 ecu Not looking for silly money, would prefer parts to go to a good home if anyone needs them. Oops - nearly forgot to add also full air con set - rads, hoses, pump etc Kind regards Andrew
  16. Thanks Richard - it looks like it is just for bikes though[]
  17. I heard a rumour that there is going to be a 1/4 mile event at Jurby in July. Wondered if anyone else had heard this, as I can't find any details. If it is on, then I will be entering. Kind regards Andrew
  18. Just phoned Green Light and the told me they sent 2 trainees out to film it. They are not airing the event and don't even know if they still have the tapes!
  19. Go on Dave - you know you must!! Still hunting for video/pictures. Surely somebody must know somebody with start line footage/pics??
  20. Bests tyres I have run on the Type R are Eagle F1 GSD3. Huge amounts of grip, but I'm running 16's so couldn't comment on 18's. Kind regards Andrew
  21. Forgot to add, if anyone has photos or video footage, especially from the start, please let me know. I have a little video footage and some photos of empty roads as Sarah couldn't work the camera! PS is anyone interested in buying a Garrett TD05/06 20g turbo, good for 400bhp on a 2 litre with not too laggy spool up?
  22. Keeping the Subaru name alive, I won class 3C Road Saloon & Production Cars over 2000cc in the hill climb on Friday night. 1 km (0.62 miles) standing start back up the TT course. My time (Type R V5 2.33 SMG) 25.07 secs 2nd in class Porsche 911 C4 25.82 secs 3rd in class Porsche Carrera S 26.28 secs 4th in class Porsche 911 GT3 RS 26.33 secs 7th was a very nicely Norris prepped Nisan Sunny GTiR (410bhp)at 27.05 secs My resuly was 4th overall and just to put it into context here is the machinery that beat me: Chevron B25 F2 24.57 secs Chevrolet Camero Z28 24.80 secs Caterham R500 24.85 secs And I beat a westfield Megabusa (25.86 secs)! Result would have been better if I had a bit more gearing and the TD05/06 20G was able to breath better. A big thanks to Steve Guirey for the build and Pat for mapping. Bigger turbo time me thinks to get the best from the engine! Kind regards Andrew
  23. Application is in and I'm confirmed. Bag of goodies from Demon Tweeks arrived earlier - fireproof FIA suit, ballaclava, gloves & boots (already have carbon fibre rally helmet). Oil changed, just a few little jobs left to do, then all ready to go!
  24. Well I've decided to enter the Bray Hill event. Had the scrutineer round last night to make sure I can run in the production over 2000cc class and all looks good! Can't wait to unlease the 2.33 litre 420bhp and 450lb/ft. Time, me thinks, to get the young fella's TT Superbikes out on PS2 to see what it's like going the wrong way! That corner at the top is going to look fairly tight at speed. Any idea what the terminal speed will be at the Grandstand? I guess if full throttle all the way it'll be fairly close to my redline (7,200 rpm) in 5th = 150mph. Regards Andrew
  25. Is it a Type R V5 that you have? If so, from my experience definitely get remapped for 97RON otherwise you are sitting on a time bomb if not using octane booster. Depending on how far you plan to mod, you might consider a mappable ECU - I run a Link on mine which was relatively cheap compared to the likes of Motec and GEMS and is doing a fine job of running 420bhp with 2.33 litres on 97RON so it will give you plently of scope. All my work was carried out in the south of England area - so I can help you out with contacts if you are prepared to travel. Kind regards Andrew
