  1. Vote cast and good luck, although the WR1 caught my eye as well!
  2. I know how your feeling JPE. I parted company with my 2004 WRX after owning from new a short while ago. What did I swap her for i hear you shout! A Nissan Note!! But I went for the 1.6, 0-60 in about 1 week! Just a bit of a change from the Scooby!!! However fear not i'll be back as soon as finances allow.
  3. Hi everyone Hope you all had a good Christmas. Mine ended on a rather sour note when someone skidded on the ice and took out the front wing of my scooby on Christmas evening!!! It's going through the insurance and they want me to go to one of their approved repair places, but i've not heard of them so was hoping someone may have had dealings with them or heard any reports. They are:- Motorbodies Widnes Limited Body Tech Liverpool Mainland Body Center Warrington. Any comments on any of the above would be appreciated. Many Thanks
  4. Give these a try if you like. Brentacre Insurance, I've not got the number on me at the minute but could add it for you later if needed. I've been with them for 4 years of Impreza ownership now. My first years price was 1000 for a 2004 wrx aged 27 with a clean licence and full no claims. They are a family run concern and are very easygoing with regard to modifications. I recently got a quote to upgrade to an sti and it made no difference!!! Give me a shout if you need the number. Good luck.
  5. Hi there, Two of the first mods i did to my scooby was the exhaust and dump valve and still love them 4 years on. I just wanted to offer some advise about the insurance bit though. When i ring around for quotes at renewal time some companies come out in a cold sweat when i mention the words dump valve and will not even give me a quote. I can't comment on Privilege in particular though so it may be worth a call to them before you part with your hard earned cash. Good luck.
  6. Has ayone had any dealings with Westaway Motors in Northampton? Thinking of having my service done there, so any opinions good or bad would be worth knowing. Thanks in advance.[]
  7. Mine's a euro import bought origionally from Carcraft and i'm the second owner. Can't say enough bad things about Carcraft, but apart from the warranty issue the car is fantastic. I dare say you could buy a warranty from somewhere if it's that big a concern for you, but i got stuck into modding mine so i never worried too much about it. Just doubble check for an alarm system on the car, I had to get an after market system fitted as it didn't have the Subaru one on it. Hope this helps a little.
  8. I've got two small beanie scoobys on my parcel shelf and a couple of air fresheners. Nodding scooby got taken out cos he wouldn't stay stuck down and his head was always falling off! lol
  9. I have a 2004 WRX, due to it only having two cats would removing the centre cat cause any problems? Also are the de-cat sections the same through out the new age cars? e.g. would an '02 de-cat pipe fit an '04? Thanks.
  10. Got my tickets today aswel. Spent nearly all day washing and waxing as no more days off work till Sat!! Can't wait for Sunday, should be a great day out.
  11. This is one of my biggest hates in the world, and i believe it simply boils down to a lack of respect for other peoples property. Why can't people look, admire, get envious or simply ignore things without damaging them? Since buying my subaru i went to the extra expense and got a little run around to go to work and shopping etc in. I've wanted an Impreza for 10ish years. Now i have one it's my pride and joy, i don't want some ars* spoiling it!!
  12. I'm a St. Helens rugby league fan & past player(all be it at reserve level), nicknamed The Saints. Simm is my surname and got Simmo at school, therefore came up with Saint Simmo.
  13. Looks awsome m8. I've always had a soft spot for black cars. Loving the wheels too, they're on my christmas list already!
  14. I e-mailed Scooby Magazine yesterday with regard to issue 6 and in Jons' reply he said it is being posted out today. Should be with us soon.
  15. I've been looking at the pros and cons of induction kits for a while now. I'm starting to lean towards the HKS super power flow, but am concerned about the MAF. Does anyone have any experiance of HKS kits as i can't find many comments about them? If the MAF does fail, how much is a replacement likely to be? And are there any other effects of changing it? If using a replacement flat pannel (e.g. green) is there any change to induction noise? Sorry for all the questions, i find this topic really confusing!!! Cheers all.
  16. I'm also in my first year of scooby ownership and had the same problems as yourself. I ended up with a company called Brentacre (01792 650933) paying £1000 fully comp and they are not worried about modifications unless they "significantly increase BHP", so a body kit should be no problem. I've declared a scoobysport backbox, bailey dump valve, Lower front grille, Upper strut brace and UK300 rear spoiler without them stinging me for another penny. I have used Brentacre in the past for various hot hatch cars and have never had any problems with them. I'm 27 with a 2004 WRX euro import, kept in garage, clean licence, no claims with max no claims discount. Hope this helps, and good luck!
  17. I was quoted more than that to insure a Peugeot 106 XSi as a second car today! Might give Churchill a try then.
  18. Thanks for your opinions guys. I'll give it a go and see how much it goes for.
  19. I have found a prodrive spoiler on e-bay and am looking for your opinions on it. Would the scratches put you off it? How much is it worth bidding up to? I think they are £500 ish through a dealer. Are they a direct replacement for a MY04 WRX std spoiler? Would it look right? I think Blue Boys looks v in the latest True Grip. Prodrive spoiler. Thanks.
  20. Mine arrived yesterday as well. Fitted it this morning, look rather cool. Thanks to all who helped organise this.
  21. I've jumped on the band wagon for these, just ordered one in anthracite
  22. I've recently had a good quote from Brentacre Insurance Services (01792 650933). I tried some companies as suggested here but got nowhere, I'm with Bell Direct at the mo and they were very anti mods, they wouldn't offer me a quote if i fit a dump valve.
  23. I have had similar trouble recently, my most reasonable quote was with a company called Brentacre (01792 650933) ask for John or Kerry. £1000 and reasonably flexable with mods,I asked about a backbox and dump valve and there was no increase in premium. Im 27, 8yrs NCB with a euro import WRX MY 04. I used this company for 4 years with VW GTi's. They might be worth a try!
  24. I use esso sul from time to time because that is on my route to work, and i can't notice any differance from optimax in general use. However i do fill up with optimax whenever i pass a Shell due to it's high regard on here.
