  1. Scooby Dooby Blue (Paul) died this afternoon at 1:30pm. Paul had a heart transplant 7 years ago at the age of 25. He didn't like to tell anyone about this as he felt they treated him differently and only close people knew. On Monday morning at 5am he was rushed to Ninewells Hospital after entering cardiac arrest. He arrested again this afternoon at 1:30pm and the doctors couldn't revive him. It is sad to see a young man of 32 go and he leaves behind his wife Nicola and his 6 year old daughter, Kirsty. I too am devastated as he was my best friend and business partner. We all knew his life would be short but it still doesn't make it any easier. If you think someone might have known Paul then please let them know. ThanksNick
  2. I always thought mytyres.co.uk was good too, but found someone cheaper I was looking to replace one tyre and when I seen the price I bought 4 www.falkentyres.co.uk http://www.falkentyres.co.uk/product.asp?n...r=&PT_ID=57 215/35/18's for £61.24
  3. Depends how far you're willing to travel. If you're up in Dundee I'd recommend Dundee Autobody. They've just moved up beside GAP at Lorne Street. Ian painted my Subaru and it was an excellent joy and reasonably priced. I got a full respray with a few other bits done.
  4. cheers for the replies someone said you can get the car insured on the vin number the car is a late 95 so I believe it still needs and SVA test done doesnt it ? Its not stricktly 10 years old yet. lastly anyone know in the Dundee area who can SVA it for me ? Cheers
  5. Looking at buying an Imported Subaru. Someone has imported it but not SVAed it or registered it. What do I need to do to get it on the road ? Its a 95 so it will need checked. Is there anywhere in Dundee who would SVA it for me ? How long does the process take ? Also how do I go about driving the car up from England ? Its not registered so doesnt have any plates on it. Can I still insure it ? Cheers
  6. yep inner wing snapped the cambelt cover and belt so suspect valve damage was supposed to be getting a guy up to look at the car but he never got back to me so will prob write it off, shame too as the car is in pretty good nick and the accident wasnt my fault :-(
  7. << YHM. Pete can you PM me with a price for the tuning module? Thanks, Ian >> you should have a reply now cheers
  8. << Hi Nick, Phunny nuff i`ve got a brand new hand controller for a possun link that an old bud asked me to get for them, then they never collected it or even paid for it suppose it was pretty stupid of me to order something for some1 w/o even taking a deposit. So if anyone wants a possum hand controller i`ve got a new one up for sale >> Hi Pete, that will be the one you were telling me you ordered in for someone quite a long time ago, but they never took it and you offered it to me ? Although you did say to me that you and Sam lock the ECU's so you can't change anything on them. Thus I felt the hand controller was of no use. Good job it wasnt me specifically you ordered it in for. Hopefully someone will take it off your hands. It's been sitting in that cupboard of yours for quite a while now. Cheers
  9. As subjet a possum link ecu for sale. Ecu was bought around Christmas time for my 93 wrx and worked away fine running a map set up for 16psi, full decat, induction kit and front mount. I later added an uprated fuel pump and regulator and couldnt get in touch with the guy to map it again. On the 28th of February, Andy.F removed the ECU and replaced with an Apexi, the following day someone drove into me writing off my car. The possum link should fit any WRX/Legacy/Liberty from 92-96. It is the 4 plug type. It is supplied with the tuning software which allows you to connect to your laptop. You will need to buy either a USB or Serial adapter to do this. You can also buy a handheld 'tuning module' I am open to serious offers for the ECU based on a quick search I did in google.... Thor Racing are stocking it for £840 and BRDevelopments for £695. Although this was set up for my Jap car to run well in the UK I would suggest you get the unit mapped to your specific modifications. There is a great number of people around the country who will do this for quite a reasonable price. Here are some pictures of the actual unit and below that is some info. Please PM or drop me an email at Mail Me Thanks Picture1 Picture2 Remove the factory computer and plug in the fully adjustable PossumLink in its place. The PossumLink is a PCB that replaces the factory ECU inside the factory enclosure. The PossumLink 44S Management System provides control over the engine's fuel, ignition and air tumblers with full boost control with mapping for up to two Bar (29 lbs) of boost using all factory sensors. Cold start, rpm limits, closed loop O2, voltage correction, ambient air, closed loop knock, idle rpm and aircon control are adjustable via the Link Tuning Module or PCLink laptop software. The Link Computer features: fuel and ignition control, closed loop, AutoTune fuel curve, cooling fan control, RPM switching, turbo or non-turbo engines, RPM and Boost limiting, multiple coil applications, voltage correction, MAP or MAP/TPS, cold start, road or race, adjustable boost mapping, etc... Since it is difficult to produce an ECU replacement which is suitable for all uses, fuel qualities and climates the system is fully adjustable by the user. There is no upper limit for the injector flows since the ECU can be re-programmed to suit any flow. Normally you would use an injector large enough to do the task with a 10-20% reserve. The only problem with using very high flows is that tuning at low power, idle, requires a bit more effort. You can program boost, timing, fuelling, lambda targets hot and cold idle, acceleration enrichment etc. There are 96 fuel zones, 96 ignition zones and 16 boost zones. Fuel and ignition zones interpolate together to give 32,000 points for each. So its no problem to decide on a boost level and change the settings. However I will say that there are over 10,000,000 possible combinations !!! For fuelling you can adjust the whole map, complete rows or individual zones. On earlier cars its only possible to adjust timing by zone.
  10. will give you first shout, how much you offering ? bearing in mind you will need to swap them yourself ;-) cheers
  11. << About £20 and if you are looking for a buyer......Hello. Nice seats esp with the 555 logo. AFAIK only fitted to the Ver4 Type R Limited, as to how much they are worth. It is the age old adage, they are only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for them. With this in mind, on a good day and Imy is not looking i would pay about £300 for the 2 front seats. Grant >> just for the front seats ?!? but I have the back ones too ! I may be selling them if the insurance are going to write the car off, well may be looking to swap them for standard wrx tiger red horrible coloured seats and some cash... cheers
  12. As title how much are these worth Pics That is an old picture and it seems to still have the standard wrx seats in the back. I do however have the full interior fitted, i.e. front and back. The seats are from an Sti V3 Type R I believe which is a 3 door car. They are fitted in my 5 door car with no problem cheers
  13. << With the luck this car has brought you, i think you should let it go. engine is likely to have bent valves at least. Andy >> Are the valves likely to be bent ? The impact happened on the passenger side of the car, this crushed the battery and knocked the batter terminals off obviously cutting the power to the engine immediately. The chassis leg has snapped through the belt, but hopefully due to the cut in power the engine would be ok ? is there any way I can tell ? I am seriously thinking about getting it fixed. It all comes down to if the engine is ok or not. As said I have most of the bits and with a jig and a bit of paint it could be brought back to life. The only other concern is the drive shafts etc would this be expensive to fix ? cheers
  14. << hi m8, dont go buying any one that comes along or you will end up with another pile of trouble!! andy at jvs,s girlfriend has her own scooby 4 sale at a good price, its in realy good nick and has a hks front mount ect, in silver, and all your bits and bobs would fit on, and its avalable now!! give me a call if you want to hear any more or call jvs (andy) with all the bits off your car you could make a cracker!!! cheers m8, robin >> hi m8 whats the spec, reg and how much ? drop me an email at sales@diskdepot.co.uk if you don't want to post on here
  15. I went to buy another Impreza today I had a look on autotrader.co.uk and seen one at a garage for £3295 reduced to clear. I phoned up and spoke to the guy and asked a few questions What's the MOT ? till September What's the mileage ? 148,000 KPH What's the bodywork like ? good condition for its age What's it like mechanically ? mechanically its sound What's the warranty ? warranty is 6 months Does it have a stereo ? no doesn't have a stereo So took a day off work and popped in the Corsa and drove to Leeds to get the car. I was happy getting rid of the Corsa as a trade in. Got there 260miles later and had a look at the car....a little disappointed to say the least. I said to him, do you know the door is a different colour than the car ? He said yeah that's why its cheap did you not see the 2 dents on the wings ? I replied no ? Do you have the keys He handed me 2 keys, one which opened the door and the other which turned the ignition. (which would point to a stolen and recovered car?) Checked the mileage. 188,000 Kph (Depending on if it has been converted or not) So obviously I was not happy the car was a wreck and he told me it was in good condition for its age. He then tried to sell me the car next to it, which 5 minutes earlier he said was needing a new clutch ! He had about 6 imprezas there and it nearly made my cry how bad condition they were. It was like a graveyard for the dead. To top it all off earlier I had seen them tearing up the Ind Est in a white Sti which they were showing someone. Now you know it takes at least 15 mins to warm an impreza up and I doubt this had been warmed up properly. I had no other choice but to jump back in the corsa and drive the 260 miles back up the road. not a happy chappy I will tell you. I had a think about my car on the way up the road and I am thinking about fixing it as long as there is no engine damage. I have a complete facelift front end sitting in my work which I have been collecting. So have a bonnet, bumper, grille, headlights, side lights, indicators. All I need is a couple of wings which I can get for £55 delivered from EBay and perhaps a jig, along with some welding ? What you think ? cheers
  16. The car is full comp so I will get a calim on mine or his depending which way it goes. Funny thing about the insurance though. 2 Months ago I bought an MR2 Turbo and Norwich Union would not give me a new policy on it as it was older than 1993 They don't allow new customers to insure cars older than 1993. What the guy did was transfer my existing policy onto the MR2 which has 4 years protected no claims. The new policy on the Subaru was taken out with a special introductory bonus of 4 years discount. Although I guess that will be lost now. I have seen another Impreza that I am thinking about buying, just trying to convince my mate to drive down with me tomorrow to get it. I bought my girlfriend an 05 plate Mini on the 1st of March and her Corsa is sitting redundant. The garage the Impreza are in are willing to take it as a trade in so thats now too bad. To answer a few questions... I am ok, its just the car thats buggered. I did take some pics with my camera phone but it was a little dark and not sure how they will turn out. Also do digital pics stand up in a court of law ? Not sure how to activate my PM facility (Sponsor this site and don't know how to use it !) If you want to catch me email me at sales@diskdepot.co.uk I am off to the Solictors this afternoon. Hopefully he can help me sue the guy and I have a bit of a sore back now, so personal injury might be on the cards The car is completely standard Lastly if I hear "it is only a bit of metal" one more time ! seriously though the car set me back £6500 in April last year and I have spent over a further £6k in repairs since then. Some of you will know the story, so a search for the thread "Pig in a poke" on scoobynet. Cheers guys
  17. the car has a custom titanium exhaust from the turbo back if someone wants to swap this for their standard exhaust then they are welcome to it, but you would need to come and change it over tomorrow as I am sure the insurance are wanting to come out as soon as possible ? the car is a 93 wrx let me know cheers
  18. << So sorry. If the roof has gone it looks bad. Glad you are OK though. If you were out any further.......!!!!!!!!!!! BTW, activate your PM facility and tell me who has the car. You could get bits off it before the assessors come to see it. (just in case) >> the car is at my house dunno what bits could come off without them noticing ?
  19. I was driving home from work the other night and approached a Junction. Traffic was parked on double yellow lines both sides and it was difficult to see, but I edged out a little to see better. It was 10pm at night so you could normally see car lights if a car was coming. I edged out a little more and a saxo appeared from now where doing an estimated 80mph in a 30 zone and smashed into the front corner of the car on the passengers side. He hit me that hard that it spun my car 180 degrees. He jumped out of his car shouting sorry sorry are you alright, it was my fault I was going too fast. I called the police who took statements etc. There are 2 witnesses one of which told me his details and said he seen the guy in the saxo tear past him and if I needed to contact him for a witness I could. I went round to the guys house the following day to get his insurance details. His mum said he was out at school but she could give me the insurance details. I asked her if she knew if he was taking liability for the accident and she said she had not spoke to him but didn't think so. I said he was going a bit fast wasn't he. She said well he is not going to admit that is he ? So what do I do now ? I have an appointment with a solicitor tomorrow to seek legal advice. Will the insurance see that he was in the wrong or will they take his side ? Will the police prosecute for his dangerous driving ? When I said to the office that he was doing about 80 he looked at me like I was daft. I said do you not believe me the young lad is driving a Saxo VTS, its a 1.6 16v car. I am sure it is capable of those speeds in a short distance. Also if he wasn't going that fast how did he manage to spin a 1.3 ton car 180 degrees. His answer to that was he hit the heavy side. I would have thought this meant the car would have been harder to move, but the officer didn't think so. Any advice would be appreciated. Here are some picks of the car. Do you think the insurance will write the car off ? If you look closely the roof seems a little bent, where the A-pillar has pulled it down. How much do you think it would cost me to get it fixed ? The cambelt cover has been smashed and I am not sure if it has hit the engine or not ? Cheers Pics Pics Pics Pics Pics Pics Pics Pics Pics Pics Pics
  20. I can be hands on, but prefer to pay someone to fix it. I have done a few bits on the car myself, the biggest fitting the front mount myself... The walbro is still working as you can hear it slightly when you put it to stage 2 I don't have the airflow meter connected as I have a Link ecu It's new HKS Iridium plugs 2 months ago, 4 coilpacks about 6 months ago. Not sure about the cam sensor, I don't know what it looks like cheers
  21. I don't think its that they are not interested, I dropped them an email but didnt get a reply. Them being in Edinburgh and me being in Dundee with a non starting car is a bit of a bummer for them would be easier if I could get it to them. I have used them before and was more than happy with their service. Just not local which is a shame as they are one of the few places I would trust to look at the car !
  22. Sorry for the link to the other forum, but desperate for some help... Link Cheers
