Good Morning Ian We took the car up to Zen on Saturday. They rang yesterday to say the car was ready, but they couldn't start it - problem with immobiliser. They want me to collect it, I want them to test it first. Still trying to resolve the implications of that issue. Watch this space, might have an update later today. Regards Dean

I have ordered a PPG semi-helical 1 - 4 gearset rated @ 500 + bhp / lbs/ft Torque, c/w a longer STI 5th gear. Plus Lightweight Flywheel and AP Racing clutch. Gearset not yet hit Customs.

Sorry Guys and Gals Have to cancel Saturday, parts still not yet in UK. Feel Zen have let me down bigtime. I suppose by telling me it would only take a week for the parts to arrive, and a day to do the work, they got the sale, job done! A man and his money easily parted, for the love of his car. With only 5 days to go to the Goodwood Trackday, and 6 days until PE Rolling Road Day, it is looking less and less likely that the gearbox will be ready. I spoke to Zen Performance on Friday, and they still do not have a tracking number. The parts (coming from Australia) will have to clear customs, so unless they arrive and clear customs on Monday, and are with Zen on Tuesday, there is not a chance that the car will be ready this week. And I was thinking of lowering my estimate to 330 / 330. We only managed to get 1 map down @ 1.2 Bar boost, as the MAF sensor maxed out. That was going to be the lowest setting of the 3 boost settings planned. 1.4 Bar and 1.7 Bar were considered for the other settings. Anyway, it's an old (11 years) RA, out of puff over 100 MPH. (note even bigger excuses) I now need to source a 300ZX TT MAF from somewhere.

My thoughts exactly. If it gets within sight of 400/400 i'd be pleasantly supprised. Although I wouldn't be unhappy with 350/350. If it's back together in time, we'll see how it gets on at Goodwood on the 24th and PE on the 25th. I'll keep those of you that are interested informed, and see you at the next meet. What do you mean "if it holds together long enough" The 1-4 gearset cost £2228 alone. By the time you add a new 5th gear, ancilleries, oil, and labour, I'd be suprised if I get any change from £3k. So the gearbox better hold up. Don't know about the rest of the car though.

I have ordered a replacement gearset from Zen Performce. They were very helpful, and taking their advice, I have gone for a modified version of the PPG 5 speed, helical cut synchro engagement box, which I believe is rated at 550 LBS/FT Torque. They expect to have the parts within 1 week, and will do the work straight away, so at the moment I am still hopeful (albeit reservedly) that the car will be ready for the 24th and 25th of November. I suppose I should change the clutch at the same time. Whilst it is disapointing that the box gave up the ghost, as JGM says, "she was flipping flying" even though the MAF sensor was maxing out at only 1.2 Bar Boost. Still, had some good news, my new steering wheel turned up.

Yesterday at the end of a great mapping session with Jolly Green Monster my gearbox went bang at about ***MPH. Initially lost 5th then could only get in to 2nd, which is the gear I had to drive home in. So, I desparately need another RA gearbox (without DCCD). Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Regards Dean

It's just a car!!! And it's not ready yet! Roll cage mods completed last Thursday. New Header Tank on Order - due Tuesday - nice bit of Pace alloy bling. Mapping booked for this Wednesday with Simon (Jolly Green Monster). New Steering Wheel, ignition flick switch and push start button on order. Water Injection kit - not yet ordered - needs JGM's advice. Still unsure about Nitrous kit for strip days.

Correct me if I am wrong, but Fox's did not want to contribute to the cost of having their name or logo on our shirts, therefor to do so, would have increased the cost to the KS members.
