  7. Dougster, Using a Nikon D50 with a Nikon 70-300mm Lens and a 18-55mm for close ups. Yesterday was the first time i have ever used an SLR in my life! Quite pleased with the pics, my mate took the one of the crashing pug, he reduced them loads to send to me thats why the quality isnt very good. Col.
  8. Me and my mate had our first day out with our new cameras yesterday, setting up a motorsport photo website just nowwww.power-images.co.uk ,hopefully be up and running in the next month or so. We will try and cover as many events as possible, Knockhill, Crail, Rallies etc. Pictures (if they are good enough!) will be available to purchase for a small fee. As there are 2 of us we feel we can capture more incidents, accidents and because we are both car nuts rather than full time snappers, we will always be moving about the circuit trying to get action shots rather than sitting in one spot all day like most other photographers taking boring pics. Between us we took about 600 pics yesterday! just messing about with camera settings and making an arse of if sometimes but also got some very good shots, heres a very small selection- If anybody knows guys that were competing yesterday and would be interested in any pics of their car please feel free to give out my email and i can send them some photos, colint1974@hotmail.com Colin. 10. Here goes VW Jetta 1.5CL, X reg- not bad first car and was pretty quick off the mark (no mods) Ford Capri 1.6 LS, A reg- 2.8i lookalike!, 13" RS Wheels, Peco Exhaust, even took it round Knockhill! Fiat Uno Turbo, F- reg, 3 spokes(yes i know!) lowered, induction kit, bleed valve, bloody quick but a bit flimsy, put diff through gearbox casing and it took a year to get a replacement! VW Golf GTI 8v- E reg, 3 spokes off fiat(honestly!),lowered, ashley exhaust, big stereo, best car i have owned, drove it like a madman for a year and nothing went wrong. BMW 318i Coupe-F reg, great solid car, fun in the wet but pretty slow, full 325i replica, great for pulling the burds Ford Sierra 2.0 Ghia- F reg, Full cossie replica! looked the part at went pretty damn well too, rust bucket! Ford escort RS turbo- G reg, still have nightmares about this! absolutely mental when it went, had every- thing done to it spent thousands, broke down every few weeks though. 3 gearboxes, 2 rebuilds, was approx 250bhp, used to rip the steering wheel out your hands changing into 3rd! snapped needle off speedo on bottom of dash coming down the A9 one night! VW Golf GTI 16v, G-reg, nice car but had to thrash it too death all the time, 8v much better, headgasket let go at 120+ one night , Jetta grill, lowered, big alloys, big exhaust. Subaru Impreza Turbo, L-reg, one of the first uk cars, had alloy bonnet and boot as standard, 16" wheels, blitz exhaust, was supposed to be standard but was pretty quick, Stripped first gear playing in a field! later on broke a diff playing at Crail! Alfa GTV 2.0 TS, R-reg, Great looking car with red leather (bling!) too small and no boot, wasnt quick enough either, only had it 3 months, traded it in for- Subaru Impreza Turbo, N- reg,5dr, Had her over 3 years now, keep going to sell her but dont know what to replace her with. Never had any probs really and i havent been kind either! track days, crail etc. done 90k now so expecting probs soon. done a 12.9 1/4 mile this year but is now retired cos gearbox is feeling a bit notchy Col.

  14. Sorry for turning this site into Jobseekers! but figured there must be a few people in the know on here. Been working on Hydro Power Station refurbs for the past few years, good steady work but away from home all the time, used to see the girlfriend 1 night a week which wasnt ideal but money was good. Anyway, got finished last job a week ago and no more stations starting for another year, just moved in with Girlfriend in Dundee and need a start somewhere. Was thinking of off shore but gone off the idea, dont think it would be my cup of tea and the money isnt what it used to be, never been out of work before and getting a bit bored sitting about house! Sent my CV to most of the agencies but its "oh we'll definately have something for you next week!" not holding my breath though. I am an Approved electrician, worked on domestic stuff for years then been on the industrial side of things for last 5 years. Would prefer to stick to the industrial side as i have had enough house bashing, crawling about under floors in attics etc! Would consider anything around about Dundee area, dont mind travelling 30-45 mins in any direction though, any help, phone numbers would be great. Colin.
  15. Fancy going to this, Me and a friend are in the process of setting up a photography website dedicated to motorsport events, Crail, Knockhill etc and hopefully further afield if it takes off. We are relative novices at taking pics and just bought a load of new gear recently so will be trying it out for the first time this Saturday! lots of out of focus and blurred shots no doubt! What time does the whole thing kick off and is it on all day? If you see 2 lost looking soles wandering about with cameras hanging off them give us a shout! I will probably be driving down in a white N reg wagon with gold rims. Col.
  16. Where can you actually buy a jammer? been looking through e-bay but nothing.Yes i know they are illegal but so is speeding! Sure i can hide one somewhere! Col
  17. Did a 12.9 at the start of the year with clutch slipping like mad and overfuelling, got an uprated clutch fitted and best i got was a 13.1 it was still overfuelling though, made it hesitate really badly in 2nd and 3rd. Took the K&N induction kit off last week and car now runs like a dream, no hesitation and a lot quieter. Know of a few other scoobs that run mid to low 12's. Col.
  18. Drive to Inverness every week from Dundee so know this road well, take it very easy at Ballinluig, its a 50 limit and the cameras are very sensitive! After that there are no fixed cameras anywhere on the A9 north but coming back down there is one at Blair Atholl. When your heading back south be very careful after the very short stretch of dual carriageway about 5 miles south of Newtonmore junction, the camera van has a habit of sitting in the second layby on the left. I usually sit at about 75ish!, you will find most people do this speed. The best bit is the dual cariageway after Dalwhinnie going south, seriously fast as long as you have a good radar detector, usually its like wacky races goling down there! Col.
  19. My mate timed me in the wet from the pit wall, think it was about 64 secs. Dont know if thats good or bad? Col
  20. 1. Gumball 2. RS Grant 3. Andywrx 4. st3ph3n 5. Pedals 6. Ac!D 7. Jcscoob 8. Craig Mac 9. WRC No 1 10. Paddy 11. WRXMANIA 12. Billyboy and Jean and Ally 13. Baz (will attend but no idea what car in yet!!!) 22. Kenny.S 23. Kart_man 24. Col 666 Think it was mentioned earlier but Blair Castle has a huge car park right on front of it (Great backdrop for pic)and the castle will be closed for the season so no pesky tourists getting in shot!, somebody should maybe give them a ring, its only about 30 mins from Perth too. Colin.
  21. Hi, I am an Electrician currently working on Hydro Power Station refurbs but all thats due to finish very shortly so fancy a change. Just wondering what my chances are of getting a job at the moment, was going to do my RGIT course off my own back then go hunting for jobs, is this the best idea? Also whats the best RGIT course to do, the cheaper one for north sea etc or the full monty mega bucks one!? Cheers Colin.
  22. I dont have a WRX Wagon but a well modded uk wagon, been thinking about selling it recently, had it 3 years and to be honest a bit bored with it and fancied going back to a 4 door. pm me if your interested. Colin.
  23. missed another open day, working saturday stinks!!
  24. I've also been thinking about going offshore, i am an electrician and have been refurbishing hydro power stations for the past few years but present contract finishes in a couple of months and there isnt much happening after that. Is it worth doing your RGIT off your own back then going hunting for a job? or will companies put you through it? Colin. p.s. Anybody looking for an Approved Electrician with experiance in Industrial and domestic work round about dundee/perth area start of October!!!?
