  2. Fair play. Agree on the testing yourself and your car, that's the reason we (as in track addicts) do what we do with our cars, etc.

I don't remember mentioning anything about "Not entering because it may be a challange or hard" because I agree with you on that one. If you don't break your car trying, your not trying hard enough!!!!!! and your need that excuse to buy more "gucci" replacements :D

Some might say you have pushed 100% in your car........... or did you plan to go off road at Knockhill in Febraury ;)

As I said b4, good luck at the event and I hope you get what you want out of the day.

  3. The costs are 'as bad' if the car is up to spec already and you have all the safety gear.

BUT yes - if it was a pure one-off and you needed racing boots, gloves, suit, MSA helmet, fire ext, rain light on top of the control tyres and entry fee's it can be a bit scary.

I estimate my costs for this one off to be £800. I have a race suit, gloves, helmet, boots etc and the car is up to MSA Blue Book regs (can run in TA pro classes). If it wasnt this price would soar!!! Prob about £1700 :o

Also - once you have done the OHW you have the control tyre to either use again or sell - making a potential second OHW MUCH cheaper than the initial one.

My Impreza runs 17x9's so I can pass on my 1 event old tyres to Fee to use as another spare set.

Pro entry for the season costs £2500'ish, for 7 rounds....

Adam - what I mean is that, assuming you have all the safety gear in the first place (which I do), your still paying a fortune to do an event you might get through the first round of. Potentially spending a lot of money for what could be in essence a 1 - maybe 2 - hour trackday :(

I'd understand doing it somewhere you haven't been before (you admit you know your down on power, etc so won't be as competitive as you'd like to be....... why do it as opposed to one of your ususal TrackScotland days?) but as Knockhill is your usual "hunting ground", why not save your money for somewhere else?

Or is it just the fact that you can't handle the fact your missus is a MUCH BETTER DRIVER

Best of luck anyways, hope you enjoy it and it gives you a thrilling day.

  4. So here we are again, back in Archie's world. If you post up nonsense no one can challenge it and if they do, they have a complex. You have the same car as John had 3 years ago and cant get anywhere near his times. John, i have respect for because you don't see him bumming up him self and belittling fellow competitors to make him self look good. Stop trying to be some one you will never be.

How is your car at present compared to Johns 3 years ago? You have more suspension parts or less? better suspension setup?, the same?, or worse?, more motorsports orientated people setting your car up for you?, or less?

Power isn't everything. If you have a better, more all-rounded sprint car than John had 3 years ago ( I believe that you felt that you did) then surely you can't speak ill of Archie for not being the same driver as John was (is and continues to be ;) ) as you should be faster than John based upon what you have as an all-round package), unless your not in fact, a racing car driver.

I have no ill-will against either of you. I am hoping to participate in next years hillclimbs (subject to being onshore) and enjoy some of the camerarderie that John Stevenson used to talk about . But looking at the way things are being handled on here, that may not be fully possible...... but I have 1 clear target in mind that I want to beat........... it's just a shame I can't drive to save my life.

Archie - sorry for stealing your project thread, there's nowhere else (at present) to post this up ;)

  5. Jac - if you feel you are being persecuted on this thread, inform SIDC Mods and get some posts modified (if you can provide proof the information is inaccurate) for content and get some closure. Otherwise, please leave Archie alone to conduct his thread as he sees fit (all the information seems accurate, nobody apart from you is coming on here and belittling him or questioning it).

You could start your own thread with your version of events? people can read both threads, get information and advice off both threads and make up their own minds as to who is right?

Fairs fair and all that. It is Archies project thread after all. You wish to provide alternate infornation to what Archie has stated, do it on your own thread, that way no issues will be in place and all of us will continue with our lives in a nice fashion.

I'd consider letting it lie m8 - your not exactly building a fanbase with what is being said.

Just an outsiders view. Your choice how you wish to proceed.

  6. But for those who can only be in the UK for 5 months of the year, surely points don't count? I would rather put it in perspective of how many points I got in how many races, etc

Some of us can't participate in ALL the events

Still, you both had success in events this year......... good one, both of you ;)

    Russell

  7. Hmm - looks like Cove in the background?

Go with BC's tbh, I've fitted abotu 6 sets to cars up here and they have the same ride quality qas WRX on the softer settings but you can then really firm up the ride with easy adjustments to the damping if you want to do some b-road blasting.

    under 600 delivered, BARGAIN!
