Running ON boost between mods fitted and being mapped!!!!!!!!!
Gumball replied to Gumball's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Gumball said-Im sure we have all been guilty (those with re-maps) of giving it a short burst just to see how the new parts make the car go faster before we get to Andy F or whoever maps your car, [][] -
Neil, I can see why and what your doing and i have experienced what your trying to avoid first hand. now i mod, think scoobs, talk scoobs and drive it and go to work. thats it other than the odd swally session/night out now and again and is something having learnt the hard way that you need to deal with before you end up horsed out and divorced for being on the pc all the time. unless you can get the balance i suppose your better just going to the odd meet/event and staying off the pc. sorry to see you leaving in a manner of speaking. Running ON boost between mods fitted and being mapped!!!!!!!!!

Ally said- Also , just because it doesn't go bang when trying out new parts before remap , doesn't mean that damage isn't happening . As you point out, blistered melted plugs can break-up Exaclty, i dread to think where the smashed bit off the top of his plugs went??????????? nasty -
if your cutting out the middle link which is marked URL rather than the old style forum where you cut the TAG and pasted it straight in then it should work with the brackets? thanks for the fish G Unit

i like your choice of topics stephen although i do think modding YOUR car and less concern over sh:@t mobiles would be progression with a purpose[]
-
type [ i m g ] then put in the TOP LINK not the middle one as before then type [ / i m g ] at the end without the spaces though thats it.

here- type at the end thats it.

Afternoon, This morning whilst at a garage delivering my car for its service i was handed a spark plug from a P1 that had the head blown right off it and was seriously melted. This had happened after the owner fitted new parts/mods to his car and was told the usual- "Now make sure you run it off boost until you get it mapped" Im sure we have all been guilty (those with re-maps) of giving it a short burst just to see how the new parts make the car go faster before we get to Andy F or whoever maps your car, when really we know that the ECU doesnt have a clue whats happening and cant react effectively to the crazy new requirements placed on the engine!!!!!!!!! This plug came from a car that was driven ON BOOST and hard before it got ECU attention and the car has detted, exploded the top off the plugs, damaged the pistons and resulted in some serious engine replacement treatment. I didnt have my camera phone or i would have taken a photo to show you. Hopefully for us all this post is a harsh reminder of the dangers we face if we decide to open up before its mapped. My thoughts to go out to the guy with the now broken P1 and hope he manages to get it fixed fairly cheap[]

Gumball replied to Gumball's topic in Scottish Scoobies
think i need the skills of someone like 4hero should he/they have the time to turn it into matt black with photoshop!! Please -
ttheres cars that have been decatted and not mapped. its evident that as someone said 4yrs and its fine. its just something i wouldnt do thats all. Im sure thats fine and the car knows exactly whats going on. Oil pump is to stop the big ends going when the oils not the cleanest or something gets clogged. I change my oil using 15/50 EVERY 3000 miles without fail and will be getting an uprated pump pronto. too much to lose for the sake of 150quid.

Once or twice there have been occassions that it wasnt run on booster. twice at most. september-march, 24 weeks, 3 tanks a week=72 tanks 2 of them without booster.

STI8- Car was dynod at 403/344 in September 2005 Car was dynod at 375/331 10 days later 2005 Car was dynod at 355/310 in February 2006 taken off due to det Car was dynod at 357/293 in March 2006 and showing det once again Car could dyno at 330/270 in July 2006 showing more det? Car could dyno at 299/250 in December 2006 with melted pistons? My car has had £6500 spent on it since purchasing it 11 months ago and is a seriously valuable commodity based on the starting figure of £20,000 to buy it. Interest/Finance charges cost £2500 over 5 years. It costs me £800 a year to insure and my annual fuel bill is circa £6000.KH, Crail, Dyno days, car shows, runs are over and above this. Lets say then that my car costs me- £35,800 Thats leaving out an oil change every 3000miles and servicing. I have a serious paranoia just now about the future for my STI and the problems that happen such as a loss in power and detting everytime we progress through the year. Its not all doom and gloom and potentially has as i mentioned a few weeks ago been loaded up with nasty texaco fuel disguised as optimax in Keele Services which has caused the ECU to retard/wind back 3-4 degrees having picked up danger/det. A clever bit of technology no doubt. Can this happen so easily?? What i do wonder is am i paying 102.9p for a litre of sh@t thats breaking my car or is something more sinister at foot????? It has felt slower for a short while now and i want to know........is it going to get back to the way it was? or are the critics going to get their enjoyment knowing that i have modded my car in pursuit of the power that goes onwards and upwards rather than backwards and downwards? If shell are advertising and charging for 98ron 102.9p fuel then i hope they are selling it and putting it into our tanks!! The very least they can do is realise that at the moment my car has 20lbft less torque than it did before i spent £3000,

i do actually, ill be doing it next weekend as well.[] Matt Black would look the business i think but that couldnt be polished could it[:^)] -
Went to the squirrels tree this afternoon and bought some cleaning kit for the scoob. Spent a while washing it by hand for a change and also testing the tech wax on it. Its a lot easier to apply and polish than autoglym IMHO and seemed to work well. The cars never really been a show and shine car and has a few scratches and more than a few stone chips on it so will be getting a respray eventually and will change colour.....Matt black lol. stealth mode. Heres todays David Baillie attempt. I even got a toot toot and some cheeky smiles of the Paisley hotties at one point. i chased after them and ran them off the road. My favourite- Thanks for the fish G Unit
