Urgent Legal Advice Needed Regarding Traffic cops
oletam replied to mctwistuk's topic in Scottish Scoobies
If you pay the fixed penalty you will get 3 points...end of story. If you don't it will go to court and you're liable to have your fine increased. The warning re changing the charge to careless driving is standard for this type of offence(section 1 Road traffic offenders act) and must be given. As an ex traffic cop nobody ever admits to going through on red. However if you believe you are right take the previous advice re photos from where they were parked. If that proves they couldn't see you then you have a chance in court. A lawyer might get you off but bear in mind how much this will cost you. Best of luck -
Just got it back with PPP fitted today. Have to say torque feels awesome, terrific accelaration. Got a bit of burble back though still fairly quiet compared to 2 litre engine. Also splashed out on new prodrive grills like RB 320. Wife hasn't seen them yet![]

rb320 me thinks. Looks better than plain black don't it

Just got a black MY2006 WRX. At present the grills are black and I wondered what it would look like with the Prodrive shiny steel ones. Any takers?
-
probably not but changing the ecu might be another matter
-
Just another thought. The PPP is approved by Subaru and does not affect the warranty. Don't know if that would apply to other aftermarket systems

Black 4 door. Will get some pics when I stop playing and get my Reg transfered

Pushed the boat out yesterday and bought a brand new WRX from S&S. Got a cracking deal from John. Next week taking it back for PPP. Also got a great price on insurance from Gary Moulson at Keith Michaels. A lot of other insurers refused to quote when I mentioned PPP.

Just bought a new 56 WRX yesterday and went for the prodrive option. Should be fitted next week and I'll get my burble back plus a bit more oomph!

I've been offered a good deal on an 06 STi type D. Anybody out there got one? Comments as to how it would compare with my UK 300

They are 225/40x18. What make of tyre are you referring to?

Just spotted the post re the Yokohamas. I need a set of four and got a price of £125/corner for Goodyear F1's fitted and balanced. I thought that was ok. Any comments welcomed.

Thanks for the only constructive suggestion. I have decided to go down this route. I'll try and avoid tearing them

Any of you guys can advise on making my conservatory coller in summer and warmer in winter. I've looked at a film that attaches to the polycarbonate roof and also a device called solar inserts which appear to slide inside the panels and cut out uv in summer and reflect heat back in winter. Any advise/comments welcome.

The Shell garage at Glencairn Sq, Kilmarnock told me the same. I filled up there a couple of times and there did seem to be a difference. Then filled up again with BP Ultimate and it seems to be a bit slower and higher fuel consumption. Maybe just in the head though!

Thanks guys. I've already had a squirt of WD40 under the seal and it seems to be free now.[]

Just replaced my discs and pads on my UK300. Found one of the front pistons was a bit sticky and might still be cos of the amount of dust on the wheel. Obviously the easy way is to replace the caliper, but has anybody tried replacing the piston and seals? How much hassle and is it worth the bother?

Police traffic cars generally come with a Smiths calibrated speedo fitted. They are checked by stop watches over a measured half mile(Certified by the roads authority) at 30, 40, 50 & 60 mph. The stop watches are also checked for accuracy over a 5 minute period using the speaking clock. Basically the car is driven at say an indicated 60mph and on passing the first marker post the passenger operates the stop watches(usually a pair) and measures to the second marker which should take 30 seconds. The Roads Vehicle (Construction & Use) Regs state that the speedo must be accurate to within 10%(above or below), although I believe most speedos read slightly fast. I suppose that helps the manufacturers speed claims while flattering the driver a bit.[8-|]

When this baby hits 88mph, you're gonna see some serious s**t

I was working on the A75 last week and about 6 or 7 DeLoreans passed heading towards Stranraer(for the ferry?) -
