Head can be removed with either head bolts or Arp studs, in situ. To be honest it's an a*** of a job, Colin at least has that right ( ), and you are that close to removing engine anyway you may as well !! Looking at that first pic, you are going to have to anyway to be honest Sorry ---john---

He is John !! and my response to his post above... 'Feckin chuck it harder then'
-
Mike I just got off the phone with him and he's entering it at Sept. Doune
-
Pretty safe to conclude the head gaskets are fecked then. ---john---

I'd be checking a few other things before pulling the heads again. e.g. Fans deffo working ?
-
Could be many things from major to minor, assuming no noises from the box/box bearings, I'd be checking prop, engine mounts, gearbox mounts, exhaust managing to touch box under the conditions you described, so basically, get under there and check it out ---john---

I probably have a Diff, is it for an RB5 ? Can you give me the gearbox code fron the VIN plate ? Will start TYxxxxxxxxxx. ---john--- Oh, and all of the above are correct, Kenny is the boy for this job -
www.lateralperformace.com will have them on the shelf. ---john---
-
So what time did you get down to ?
-
Mostly Yes, do you have the box codes for each ? Any TY752 box will go in any TY752 casing, same for TY754. Had an isue once where the reverse idler needed fettlin when swaping a TY 754 gea***t into a TY752 casing. ---john---

John will set the car up anyway you wish. Explain your needs re ultimate handling v's tyre wear and you'll be sorted

There are two different Diff flange PCDs, yes !! However it's a simple job to rectify. The locating spigot is the same, take your prop, offer it up to the diff flange 45degrees offset to the existing holes, clamp down with some Moleys, and drill new holes on the diff flange. Just make sure the new holes are the same diameter as the existing ones. My diff and spare are both drilled in case I need to change prop/diff combo quickly at an event. ---john--- Edited 'cause I is Dyslexic

Unusual, don't you think that no one offers products that shroud the sides and bottom of the rad ? Curious that they are all very Gucci and only for the bit people see............... The physics of sealing it all up and forcing the air where it needs to go are clear, but don't kid yourself with this 'Snakeoil'

Edited for Clarity

Now I'm even more confused I have no fecking idea what you are rambling on about. And for the record, I've never heard anyone bitch either about you or your car. Well no more than anyone else anyway ---john---

Sorry that you feel so needy Don I'll edit my post to reflect your presence Have to agree with Dunc, think your post on Donalds thread is rather out of place, nothing negative has been said here. I have the greatest respect for Donald and his car. Dunc was obviously in awe of it seeing for the first time. Arch is right, there are a few cars out there that can/will upset Donald, some of them you'll be aware of. As they are from the Dark Side. Perhaps you might like to think about your wording on your post on Donalds thread, as I would not like to be included in the Upset Subaru boys gang. I'm sure Donald will get a kick out of the attention, deservedly with the work that's gone into the car. ---john---

Dunc, will do, Donald is a good guy and has taken the car to a new level. (Thanks for the link John) Look forward to competing against him soon, can only do that if it fits around work and other commitments. One of the biggest problems is changing the car between different events. ---john---

Dunc, yes same class, though my only outing this year up here was in B3 at Kames, that was to stay out of the way of Arch, Jim, Jac AND DON so they could fight it out, as I was there to take part in the MSA Inter-Regional event (not to give Jac a doing ) so the class didn't matter. Co-incidentally the class records needed fixed in B3 anyway Donalds car is fast and has come a long way in the last two years, he took my class record at Doune this June (set in the old red car) by 0.04s. The only time we've been together with the cars near their similar spec was Doune last year. Donald pipped me by 0.08s, however I made a cock of the run. So the cars are very close speed wise. Donald has somewhere north of 600hp where my car on the hills was 500, mine was a lot lighter though. Not seen Donalds car this year so couldn't comment on current weight. I would say that power is not everything though. I competed at Kames last weekend and removed the GT35 and refitted the GT30 as I reckon the car is quicker on a tight Sprint/Hill with the faster spooling turbo and 100hp less. I beleive Donalds' turbo is a T04Z not a GT35. Looking forward to having a dry day there some day with the car in its current form.

There speaks the voice of 'experience'. Don't be silly Jac, just 'cause you can't
