<< You will need a guage mate, dont know who has one though. >> Maybe I should just cut to the chase then and buy a walbro and a decent FPR...
-
Payday for me 25th too. Think I'm out already then but I'd be up for meeting up.
-
<< Jim dude check your fuel reg. Could be a problem there. >> Fuel pressure reg you mean? How do I test it mate? Do I need to get a guage or something? Good work Jimmy!

<< I will not bend it M8,,,Im a ex Rally driver !! Ha Ha Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet >> Oh yeah I forgot mate! Yeah Jon She's up & running. Still knocking like a sh1thouse door in a hurricane if I'm not careful but the chargecooler pump is dead so there's a nice heat problem there until I find another. Going quite well though generally and with sensible front struts now too. Neil - I managed to bend one of mine quite well about 6 years ago when I stuffed my Renault 9 turbo through a wall! Just got a caution though and it taught me a good lesson! Top man Nick - I think Mrs D wrote the book on polite.
-
Make sure you don't slide and bend it mate. You'd be getting a visit from the Lego Cops if you break her! Car was hella frosty this morning though.

<< Wow! Just been out for a trip in Cret's Leggy. Wow, what a beautiful piece of machinery. Poetry in motion (with a colour light display for entertainment too!!). A beast of a machine. >> Heh heh! Is there another dude called Cret with a better Legacy than mine? Nick - I hope you didn't find Mrs D quite as scary as the dentist mate!
-
Good work Andi. By the way - how come you haven't registered on the new Leggy forum you slacker?! Out for a trundle down south in the car tonight to pick up some goodies for someone...
-
Used to be terrified of the dentist but I'm not anymore, just the injections in the back of the mouth. A nice bit of assistant totty would help though! I think it could be a fun job really. I might go and capture some 'test subjects' to see if it's worth taking up. Any volunteers? I promise to turn off hammer action and hide the masonry bits....

So far so good mate. Did some driving up & down douglas last night for 15 minutes or so and at first it was still blowing cold air even though it reached normal temp real quick & didn't budge from it, but then after a while the hot air came through, and lo, there was rejoicing up on high. Drove around a while more and it stayed spot on so it SEEMS to be ok.....

Morning dudes! << Morning Dudes, Not sweet though, i'm single now >> Sh1t, sorry to hear that mate.
-
Did you hear me again earlier or something dude?! Touchwood, I think it's sorted now. I found the perfect bit I needed bolted into my spare inlet manifold - a piece with thread on one side and a pipe to accept a water hose on the other end. Drilled a hole in the damaged part of the old rad first and screwed it into that to see how snug it fitted and got it spot on so I did the same in the rad Jon kindly gave me instead of repairing the bit that was knackered on it as that looked too tricky. Covered the join with JB weld to strengthen it then stuck the rad back in the car. Filled it up and it must have taken shedloads of water until it was full then I drove it round for a bit. The heater was still pumping out cold air even though it was staying at normal temp so I pulled over and let out some pressure through the header tank. Drove around for a bit longer then gradually warm air started coming through and after driving round for another 10 minutes or so I was still getting hot air out and noraml temp. Job's a good 'un it seems. Will test it a bit more before being 100% sure but it seems ok now so fingers crossed... Cheers again Jon for the rad and to Andi for bringing it over for me, looks like my elite bodging skills have saved the day once again. Saweeeeeet! All being well Andi I should be able to collect the 'goods' tomorrow evening mate.

<< Hey el dudios!!! Yep hol was top good relaxing and lots of el beerio Rad end tank easy peasy Jim I think off top of my head >> Glad you had a good hol mate. It looks a matter of unprising the metal tabs, swapping the tank then prising them closed again but I'm not sure if I'll get a good enough seal reassembling it by hand. Will try option A of repairing the broken pipe bit first I think just in case & leave end tank swapping as a last resort! << Oh dudes got £18k to spend on car. Selling SLK. Ideas? MUST NOT BE JAP though. >> How come not Jap mate? If you look around you might just find a ferrari 308 for that money!
-
<< << Jim dude your car has a sound all of its own,, >> ....a bit like a gentle breeze blowing across an open field, or a hairdryer on the lowest setting, or the low hum of a refrigerator in a quiet kitchen.... Ha ha ha ha >> Not quite what the neighbours would say!
-
<< << Andy mate, I take it you're another looking to emmigrate from Scooby Island? Morning peeps. >> The sooner the better Neil M8 >> Bummer dude. Everyone's deserting the place.
-
Morning dudes! Me? Why would you possibly think that'd be me matey? Yes it was. Will pull out the rad again this evening and try getting some means of attaching that pipe to it, then if it works I'll head down to Mrs D's scooby surgery and pick up the 'merchandise' for you Andi!
-
Yep! Need to find something like a hollow bolt , or some sort of threaded pipe I can screw into the plastic and the water can come out through...... OR! Just thought, I could take the good end tank and put it on my rad that has the bits there already. Anyone ever removed/refitted an end tank on a rad? It LOOKS quite easy.....
-
Ahh I see! Then I shall get a pipe into it one way or another mate! Guess that's where that screw was then dude? I figured that was just screwed into a broken bit and that there was no pipe seeing as it has to cap on the rad either. I will get to work when I find a suitable piece to tap into it.... Much obliged for this rad matey.
-
Yeah dude, I want to remove the thermostat to rule it out of the equation, although I suppose I'll only have the same problem when I drain it to refit it again. Doh! Rad doesn't seem to be blocked as I could blow through it fine before it went in. Not sweet!
-
Morning dudes. Bah, 8 o'clock start today. Can't handle them, I'm nocturnal! You free for a quick look at it with me this evening Andi? Neil's offered to help too but he's down in Ballasalla.
-
I know there's an airlock mate because cold air came out of the heater when the engine was hot but..... First time it got hot the rad was nice and toasty like it should have been with pressure in the pipes, but second time it got hot the rad was cold and pipes soft because the thermostat must have been shut. Airlocks don't normally make the rad stay cold like that in my experience of the renault days (the worst car ever for overheating/airlock problems). I've had one that's gone sticky in the past after not using the car for a while. Be good to try out anything you reckon is worth a try though dude!
-
Oops - cross posted! Thermostat was ok earlier because rad got nice and hot and had pressure in the pipes like it should but when I went out just now the rad stayed cold so thermo must be dodgy. Too skint to buy one until 25th so it will have to just come out until then!
-
Cool! Cheers mate. Other thing is I just tried it again about 20 minutes ago (might have heard me a couple of times going round the block!) but this time the rad didn't get hot even though the engine did so it looks like the thermostat has gone now too.
-
Cheers mate. I'm trying to find out if there is a particular (ie proven) method of doing getting rid of an airlock in a scoob. As it mostly seems to be speculation & guesswork.
-
Well I should be the king of mastering overheating cars after the renault 5 GTT & renault 9 GTT I had as they pretty much overheated every week. Just put another rad in it on Sunday and it's not leaking out anywhere, and the thermostat is opening ok as the water is pumping round, and the fans work but it's got air trapped in the system which hasn't happened to me before on the scoob and I can't get rid of it. Gets up to normal temp, stays there for a while, then suddenly heats up till it's getting far too hot & I have to turn it off. Only getting cold air from the heater and that's how I know it's airlocked but it's being a beehatch to clear it for some reason.

After having me motorbike robbed back in May and having two jeeps vandalised over here I know exactly how you feel mate. Not much news from me except for getting the new, properly hosted version of the forum up after the freebie hosts wrecked the good start the other one had. Just been for a quick drive around in the Leggy to see if it's still overheating and it is. Anyone know how to bleed the system to get rid of an airlock?
