  1. That's true Dave - I notice the brackets that hold out the outer edges of my front bumper are rusty too. Aside from the wiper arms they're about the only rusty bits on my car but it's good for a 15 year old I suppose! Jimmy - You want to buy my Fletcher speedboat then mate? When I flog that I could be tempted with a jetski but I want a sportsbike too. Bah for not having enough money!!
  2. << Got to make the rest of the car match the sprayed parts. >> Dude, shouldn't whoever sprayed it have done that as part of the job? After all, if it's an insurance job then the objective should be to get the car to the same condition as it previously was!
  3. Fraid I never really find out as I'm usually way more p1ssed than my mrs. Morning dudes. I'm not bad ta Andi - gonna clean (empty!) the car this weekend and hopefully give it a good cleanout.
  4. Afternoon dudes!
  5. << << Take it you were just spectating then Dave? Cheers Jim, for the offer. It don?t leak to bad but its annoying cos the core is in good nick. May buy one at that price. Yes I was spectating, you know me. >> No worries dude, if you want it just let me know. I didn't have any problems with it leaking except when my head gasket causes the hose to blow off with there being no lip on the top intake, wouldn't matter on a motor with healthy gaskets though mate.
  6. Morning dude!
  7. Evening dudes! Knackered after being out on the bike this avvy! Andi - saw you driving the Leggy just towards Ballacraine this avvy. Was coming the other with my mate on our bikes after doing some greenlaning.
  8. Take it you were just spectating then Dave? If your rad is knackered I've got the rad I just took out of mine you can have if you want as a temporary measure? It works fine, just looks a little raggy, but it'd do you until you get a new rad. If you want it (the rad!), give me a buzz on 463787 Dave. I got me new one on Ebay. Brand new, £104 inc postage!! If you need a new one here's the link to the guy I got it from: Link to the guy I got it from.
  9. Good luck with the house mate, although it will be a shame when you move from here. Got my new rad in today and got my stereo all working again. Turned out a dodgy earth wire was stopping the power getting to both amps so no rear speakers or subwoofer until today, but back on track again now.
  10. << Oh , I can tell the sound of your car Jim dude... Nice to see you Nick dude this morning ... >> But I thought all noisy scoobs sound pretty much the same?!
  11. Morning dudes! Bloody hell dude - how car you hear my sewing machine noise engine through a couple of rows of houses?!
  12. << LOL Jim dude , I went past it the other night and it looked full M8..... >> It very often is mate. I'm a terror for unecessary clutter & dragging stuff around that I don't need.
  13. I had a big tidying head on last night but unfortunately it didn't get as far as cleaning out my car! Might do that tonight. Probably shave a second of its 0-60 time just by taking things out that don't need to be in it!
  14. Dude, I think he's an Impreza driver though not a leggy driver?
  15. << Nice one Jim dude , Did you get the MAF from Spud ??? There was a bloke fro Australia on the general discussions today Jim , you could find out more about your Leagacy RS M8.... >> No I didn't get it but we sorted things out friendly enough. Which general forum?!
  16. Afternoon dudes! Just ordered a brand new rad on Ebay last night. £104 including the postage - what a ripper!
  17. << Mornin dudes. I still have access to the hotel workshop/garage if needed with car lift, engine hoist, welding gear etc and lots of space. You have to supply own bacon butties though. >> Bacon butties supplied to the workers as a matter of course. Will have to clear out Mrs D's garage again at the scoob surgery!
  18. Morning dudes! Thank crunchie it's friday. Cheers for the offer Andi mate. Jon - cheers matey, I might take you up on those various offers dude. Are WRX heads any different really to the legacy ones? I know the oilways are better as leggy owners put WRX heads on to cure tappet syndrome but is there any performance difference or anything? Can get a crane easy enough if need be, and if the engine DOES need to come out I can undo everything beforehand to make it a quick job. Must get myself an impact gun. I could use an air wrench but my compressor is a bit knackered. I will get myself another thermostat and rad, and see if anything magically cures then. Then if the problem is still there and I need engine out again it'll probably end of March as I'll have just got me bonus!
  19. Haven't done no. Sure Neil could try that as I'm seeing him later on. I'm going to fit a new thermostat and probably a brand new rad anyway and see what happens then. If I've to go to the aggro & expense of an engine out then I may as well do bits like that as well so best to try them first just in case it's just them...
  20. Cheeky git! Cheers for the offer dude. I doubt I'll be doing the job for a good while yet anyway as she still drives fine as long as I'm not ragging her, so I'll wait until the strange rover is on the road again so at least I have some spare wheels to use, and hopefully a few quid on one side for bits. At least I can stick in a new clutch at the same time and maybe a few other nice goodies..... Any suggestions dudes? This couldn't be caused by something stupid like a sticking thermostat or something could it?
  21. Well I think it's bad but she still drives fine enough. I'll just have to resist thrashing her until I can afford to rebuild the motor or get another one etc which won't be for quite some time I think. That's assuming I'm right but I think the symptoms are fairly obvious unfortunately.
  22. I'm reasonably convinced it is Andi. Pretty sure that the rad pipe has only blown off when I've been giving it a bootful and that shouldn't happen because the pressure in the coolant system should surely be the same regardless of how you drive. I think when the head gasket goes it's ok until it's under boost, then pressure seeps from the combustion chamber into the coolant system causing things to get highly pressurised & do things like this. At least that's my understanding anyway unless anyone else knows better? Bugger though as the engine only went in last May.
  23. Oh dear dudes. I think all is not well again! Just disconnected the EBC to run on the normal boost control circuit and went for a bit of a spirited drive up to the creg & back. Well I noticed the other day she'd used some water up, but after ragging it only a small amount I noticed even at about .75-.8bar boost it was knocking, and then the top hose blew off the rad!! It's not the first time this has happened since fitting the donor rad as the pipe at the top is fair weak and a lot smaller than it should be but I'm worried that maybe I've a head gasket problem now.
  24. << Evening dudes, Cally is cooking dinner now Got her trained well >> Gail's getting trained well now too. She'll buy meat in for me to scoff even though she won't touch the stuff herself!
  25. Could be worth trying on one of my ones I guess dude. Or if nothing else you might be able to look at the maps on them and see if you think they're too agressive or whatever. At least that'd maybe answer the question as to whether it's the chips or something else causing the problem. I was planning on going back standard ECU and even using the standard boost controller/solenoid instead of the EBC. Probably won't go for an aftermarket complete ECU after all as I need to get things like tyres/coils/possibly a regulator etc. We'll see anyway. How's things anyway buddy? Good I hope.
