Thats a scunner but a necessary evil I suppose - good luck wih the modified mitt
-
It came on the back of a trailer - seemed to be driven by various people as I was able to tail them with ease under braking & on the corners
Extremely fast nonetheless !
Who owns the white & silver Scoobies in the video ?
-
I have uploaded some video now - cheers

Video Footage >> SIDC Track Day - 28th March 2009
Processed on an iMac using iMovie
Sony TRV22E HandyCam with B-Hague Suction Mount in the rear Windscreen
Plenty of footage chasing some silver & white Classic Scoobies - not entirely sure who the drivers were ?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyiMA9cnZ1w
use the "HQ" ( High Quality ) Option if your broadband connection plays ball
Hope your enjoy the footage - comments on my driving encouraged & welcome - be gentle !
Cheers
Cal ( lame suspension faction !)

My short report
4 hours seemed to zip past but I had some awesome fun considering it was my first time out.
Engine and brakes are superb but the standard suspension needs to go in the bin. I was all over the shop under hard acceleration post apex on occassion. Just does not feel planted enough despite the drop links & stiffer ARB. The brakes on the otherhand are 100% fade free ! Never had any dodgy moments with them.
The 5 speed box was giving me grief at the hairpin as 2nd was high up the rev range by the exit of the hairpin meaning I had the snatch 3rd the minute I was in a straight line.
Got some pretty decent footage chasing other Scoobies & it's gojng on Youtube just now
Downers for me :-
Pit Lane being closed means that the chances to exchange chat, battle tales and be more of a community dies a little...
Barely spoke to a sole all day with a few exceptions.
TMIC scoop decided that it might come off so I took it off as a precaution ( thanks to the Sti Pretender for help in holding the bonnet in the mental wind)
Was good to get a chat in the Powmill Milk Bar at the end
Footage to follow in due course.
Thanks for all the piccies to date - much appreciated and great skills as always
Cheers
Cal
p.s note to self - get decent suspension set-up !
-
Mega day's track time.........editing footage just now but will fire up some comments later. Thanks to John S for organising as always !
-
I think I clocked my old car with a high level STi spolier the other day. It sounded awesome - miss that car ! It had a private plate so I could not confirm it but had all the right bits. It was down near the harbour
-
Nicely timed post - cheers ...........I shall tread with caution although the grip should be greatly improved = later braking. Bring on Saturday !
-
Meant to add that I tried it @ stage 2 before
-
Thanks - back into the garage ! Hopefully i'll have some spare blade fuses
-
Cal,
First of all, car is looking good Nice one.
The connector in question was in the car when I got it and always wondered what it did. I may be very wrong but I think weeb said it was to do with either an arial or mobile phone. I have a feeling that a cable attached to it runs into the boot and should be lying loose under the boot carpet. Could be totally wrong though!!
I also think that there was a connection from the battery that ran into cabin just behind the centre console and ran into the drivers footwell. Was a black, spiral lead. I am sure weeb used this to power a Road Angel as there was never a cigarette lighter. I never used it and tucked it under the drivers footwell mat.
Hope this may be of some help!
Pedals
Thanks Graeme ! Found that missing Lamco boost gauge in behind the stereo incidentally !
W.r.t the spiral lead - think I might be able to use that if I can trace it. I need to know if there's an inline fuse associated with it.
Cheers

The oe plug will no doubt still be there as Grant says. I've got a spare oe socket if you want it mate.
Found the OE plug and whacked in a cheapo socket but it doesn't seem to have any life. I dont have a multimeter or the knowledge to go any further.
What I did find in the back of stereo was a missing Lamco boost gauge though.
Any other thoughts before I fire it round to a auto-mechanic ?
Thanks
Cal
-
Could have been used for an external GPS aerial ?
-
Well seen you worked for the RAF !
Just found this on Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BNC_connector
Presume it was used for CB radios or something ?
Anyone else have any brain waves ?
-
Always wondered what this connector would have been used for ?
Any ideas - Weeb or Pedals could likely tell me but have lost their numbers
It's plumbed into the little blanking plate down behind the hand-brake
Suspect I could use it for power ?
Thanks
Cal

Thanks fellas - off into the garage for a sniff aboot'

Folks,
Has anyone any experience in wiring up new ciggy lighter sockets ?
My car does not have one at present so wondering how to wire up a doubler socket for powering camcorders, Tom Toms etc
Rapido response would be ace in view of the KH track day in a few days.
I am too feart to meddle heavily with electronics behind the dash as I have a AVCR etc wired up and dont want to mess with them.
Has anyone ran an independant socket and if so - how did they do it ?
Thanks
Cal
-
If you need to borrow to do it then don't !
If you have the cash to swop over then do it - very different cars but if you added a VF35 turbo and Sti8 TMIC then you'd easily match the pace of a Wr1
DCCD gearbox wins it for me though. Better brakes and suspension plus 6 speed box.
In fact - just do it !
-
bear in mind that KH is all about a relatively quick sucession of right hand corners. The ring is more punishing on the suspension I'd say. Long straights a mix of varied corners at ring means that I'd be less concerned about oil starvation.
Better to be safe than sorry though

Great news - hope to see her in action this year

No Scots in here this time............might be a blessing. Every Scot that goes on these reality shows seem to reflect our fine nation in a dubios light
I love the Apprentice although the first few series were the best
This bit of footage cracks me up :-

Video Footage >> Sidc Track Day - 28th March 2009
in Scottish Scoobies
Posted
Cheers folks - currently considering coil-overs now given that this is my DKT ( Dedicated KH Toy)..............does anyone reckon they'll be too brutal on a B-Road though ? Any decent ones that you can recommend that are relatively inexpensive ?
C_WRX - had about 60 mins of video but Yoiutube only permits 10 min clips. I was overtaken a few times by faster Evo's & some of th Exiges ( oh & DR MotorSport too )
w.r.t Hunting for Sport - I hate being out on track with nobody to play with ( safely !) - it's much more fun tightening up your game to try and pass folk.
One thing that I need to bear in mind is how late I can brake. I was braking later & later at the hairpin and the brakes were still inspiring confidence - gain a lot of time that way. That's where I was making up a lot of ground on the Evo's.
If only I had DCCD then I could engage in some hairpin showboating !
